I'm a 66 year old runner who has been running for 50 years. I've noticed the trend with running shoe companies is to create a shoe and a year or so latter come out with a new model of the shoe. Many times the newer model is inferior to the original model (Ultraventure). The Phantom 2 does not fit that mold. This is a far superior shoe to the original Phantom. Great cushion without being too soft. Unbelievable fit and comfort. Topo nailed it with the Phantom 2. Restored my faith in TOPO.

I love the in between feel of a barefoot and cushioned shoe. I was looking for something to give my feet a little break from my barefoot shoes but still have zero drop and get that feedback. These definitely delivered! Super comfy, wide toe box. Nice job. Wish for more color options though

I cover a lot of ground (5 miles+) in a day walking at the racetrack and these are comfortable all day long.

7 days Big Bend, TX, thumbs up! perfect for desert washes or trails. They did run a little warm but I wore thick hiking socks too so that contributed & had a 30-40lb pack. Fantastic on flat, pebble, 1-2 inch ground rocks, dirt, trails, & superb traction crawling on big rock climbs & wet. Con: a little mushy sole, hiking on very super jagged rocks 3'-6" for 4-5 hours, feet got a little sore. If you like a very hard sole shoe do not buy these. I would buy again & wear again on same trip.

Today is day one!
Coming from the ultraventure, and mtn racers.
Tried on like 40 pairs of shoes at local stores with no luck. Was looking for a bit more cushion for road running, tried several hokas and new balance, and everything else. I really hope more stores start carrying Topos on the shelves, I don't like to order blind because I have the worst time finding the perfect fit.
So far these are soooooo nice!! Love the feeling of the heel collar, it so soft! Just the cushion I was hoping for! Gonna take them on their first run shortly and see how it goes, small chance I might have to come down a half size but we'll give these a shot.

Second 5k of the week in these shoes. Bought to see if low drop would help knee pain. After running for several years in 12 mm cushion shoes with left knee pain the Phantom solved the problem. No Pain after first 5k in these. Also time is better with less effort.

The best running shoes are those that don't get in your way, the ones you can just lace up and forget about. These fit the bill. First ever pair of Topos, but they will most definitely not be my last. Great fit, nice roomy toe box, good cushioning and support without sacrificing ground feel, and they weigh next to nothing. I'm very pleased.

I am not a runner but this is the second pair of Topos I've purchased. The comfort can't be beaten for walking or standing for long periods of time. I also like the wide toe box, solid construction, and lightweight materials. I purchased the light gray with navy heel and these are now officially my "dad shoes" without looking too much like the typical, white, dad shoes.

Wanted to wait to write a review until I'd run a 50K in these shoes. Performed really well overall.
The fit and feel of this brand is for real, and I have been super impressed with the toe box and secure midfoot and heel. I do have to tie my shoes a bit tighter than I do in other brands to get that secure fit, but after figuring that out it's been a great overall feel. I'm used to running zero-drop shoes so the 5mm drop was a bit of an adjustment, but I've noticed my calves have been way less sore after long runs.
Biggest thing for me is the GRIP. Virginia running means lots of slick trails (humidity...) and these shoes really give me fantastic grip on any type of trail which is where some of the west coast brands have failed.
Only con is that I wish the shoe was just a tad lighter, but they're certainly pretty comparable to similar shoes out there. And, let's just be honest...better color schemes and designs? I don't really love the look of any Topo Athletic shoes, but I'll take function over style any day.

These are good reliable everyday training shoes, and the look of the black shoes fits well in the office. Please don't discontinue them!

These are the most fun and comfortable athletic shoes I've ever had. I use them mostly for weight and body weight training. They're also great as casual general wear shoes. The zero drop and minimal cushioning are well-suited to gym training sessions. What makes these shoes so special is the generous, comfortable toe room, combined with an overall fit that adequately holds my low-volume, usually hard-to fit feet. Their light weight, low profile, flexible heel counter, and understated look make them great for travel where they can fill multiple roles. The black/grey is a great color.

I read the other reviews. A few thoughts:
1) regarding the achilles rub: I did notice this on first two runs. I gently stretched the heel counter with my hand and have kept wearing them ( a bunch of 5-6 mile runs) and have had zero issues. I have a very large haglunds deformity and it doesn't bother it
2) regarding lateral stability. It feels snug to me. I could see hard/ vigorous lateral shuttle type drills requiring a tighter heel but it feels good running fast up/down/around corners. Feels great at 5k pace
Last thoughts: I feel like the fly lyte is Topo's gem: it's a shoe that eases a person into a more anatomical fit, while providing supple cushioning and pretty light setup. The fly lyte along with barefoot running in grass led me to the st..... I think if you like running barefoot in grass and like that light free sensation, you likely will be able to appreciate the st..... I've never really liked running barefoot on pavement and never liked the super low stack slipper type shoes, so this stack height is just right.....
I feel like topo delivered exactly what they promoted. I hope they make basically an xc racing version of this with tread and firmer heel and possibly even less stack height for soft surfaces ( like a 5.5-7 oz mens shoe)

I was looking to replace my worn out Altra Escalantes. I am very pleased. The forefoot is wide, but my foot does not slip forward. The heel does not gap or slip around. I like the subdued colorway.

Just got my second pair and I've run the first ones into the ground. Surprisingly the durability was very good at around 500-600 miles. I used them for track work, tempo runs and lifting/cross training. Also work as a daily shoe. Pretty much one of a kind shoe that can do it all for minimalist types.

I've run lots of ultras, marathons and ironmans in the only shoe I ever thought would work- five fingers. I have wanted to switch to a pair of normalized shoes for the last few years and this is finally the pair (40 previous attempts) that works. I will continue to buy this until topo messes it up or if they leave it as is this shoe will work forever for me.
