I really wanted to keep these shoes. The fit was great, five stars. I also like the look of them. Unfortunately, the shoes I received had what I assume is a manufacturing defect. The sole under the fore foot is uneven and is higher on the outside of the foot that the rest of the sole. So, when you step and your foot rolls forward, the outer part of your foot contacts the ground before the rest of your fore foot, meaning your foot then rolls inward as you complete a step. I have had good luck with North Face hiking sneakers in the past. Oh well. I'm returning them.

Heel slipped, didn’t feel comfortable at all. Returned purchase. Bought as a replacement for North Face Hedgehog which apparently has been discontinued. This is just a bad trail hiking shoe.

TNF hasn't made a high quality shoe since the GTX105. Everything now is made out of cheap materials, with few eyelets and no heel-locks, not considering the hiker or trail runner. Go back to your roots, north face. You had it right, but now, not so much.

Right shoe has a manufacturing defect. The arch support area has extra rubber the grinds into foot.

Previously owned Hedgehog GTX, with goretex and vibram sole. I expected the Ultra 111 to be similar quality, but I was wrong. It doesn't breath, causing your socks to become wet with sweat. The sole started to squeak after one week.
