Great pack! Make the investment, and unlike most other brands you can pass it down to your kids.

Fantastic minimalist 3-day pack. Simple, bomb proof construction and I was just able to fit in food and gear for a 3 day backcountry elk hunt. Loaded to 80-90 pounds after the shot and the pack handled it beautifully. Wish I could say the same about my legs...

I bought this as a camping/hiking/hunting pack. I have been waiting to review, until I actually hauled a heavy load. This fall I helped pack out a moose, and I have to say the pack was awesome. It handled a front quarter, no problem. As is, the Terraframe 50 is great for daypack to 3ish day excursion. I did add an external bag, and waistbelt pouch. I will be buying a larger bag(Beartooth) for longer trips. The frame and overload feature is great for hunting or hauling odd loads. Construction and materials are top notch as well. Its a keeper.

Some background: I went from carrying a heavy backpacking setup (30+ lbs baseweight) to a much lighter setup (12 lbs) several years ago. I started doing trail work and with saws, axes, wedges, etc and my lightweight pack (full framed with hip belt) was really not made for that and I would really feel it after a couple hours. I started worrying about durability as we take pack on/off dozens to hundreds of times a day. I also wanted a pack to replace my Alps Outdoors Z Commander + Freighter frame for hunting, which was good for the price but the comfort, durability, features and massive size never worked great for my needs. I took a chance on this pack as it was expensive and heavy, sitting well over twice the weight of my existing pack. The quality is top notch, but I was surprised how well this heavy pack rides. The excellent hip belt, external frame, and high load lifters really make this pack ride nicely. The sling load capability works well for my axe, pruning saws, heavy ropes, and I'm sure my electric chainsaw will fit nicely there as well. No opportunity to haul out animal yet either. I'll update this when I have more opportunity to use it more in the field, but so far very impressed. Two cons: expensive and limited color choices.

Happy about the bag and it's simplicity. Easy to access, easy to open, super comfortable. I bought it for hunting and the metal zippers jingle, which isn't great. I just cut them off and replaced them with paracord loops. Also, I'm a fan of outside pockets, which this bag only has 2. I'd also like to see a mesh pocket inside a pocket or compartment that can zip close for keys and wallet, etc.

So far have only used this pack on day hikes, but it is very comfortable. Lots of structure in the hip belt and shoulder straps. The large side pockets are great for nalgene water bottles, hiking poles, or a tripod. 5ft 10in, 140lb female and ordered the small.

This is a rugged pack! I bought it for the overload feature and to use is it for exactly what it said to use it for "heavy or awkward loads." Even without the overload feature, it is still an outstanding 50L 3-Zip compartment backpack, with a suspension system and frame that'll seem like overkill on lighter loads. Couldn't be more pleased... except if there wasn't blaze orange highlights, but that's nothing a marker and new cords can't take care of.

I've had this pack for about a month now. After adjusting it for a perfect fit I went for a snowy day hike with a full compliment of overnight hiking gear as a test. The suspension is fantastic, didn't notice the ~45 pounds of weight on my shoulders at all, instead it was distributed comfortably on my hips. Seems to be able to fit quite a bit, appears a bit larger than my brothers 50 liter Kelty Redwing. Great zippers as well, hiked for an hour in freezing rain with minor dampness in the pack. Despite being heavy for it's size, comfort of the suspension feels like it conceals the packs weight well. Overall can't recommend it highly enough.

Purchased for many adventures to come. The downeast weather won't give in just yet so this is not a full review. The suspension system is amazing! Compared to other brands such as Kelty and Mountainsmith (two opposite sides of the spectrum), the adjustments are simple, reliable, and quick. When loaded for a3-day trip, the pack conforms and rides great with zero lateral play. The tri-zip opening makes access a dream, with no worries about all gear spilling out. If you're a gear-junkie, the lack of external pockets may bother you. I like it because it keeps the whole unit slimline. My only complaint so far is the lack of color assortments. While my inner-Marine appreciates the loden, the only other option is bland yet out of place in most environments. For the price it would be nice to see the pack fly come with it.

I really like the frames fit and build, very comfortable. The pack component is tough and roomy. The water bottle pockets don't hold a bottle very well with a loaded pack. It really needs the lops on the outside of the pack to add a couple of nalgene pouches.

I bought this park 6 months ago and love it. Have taken it to linville gorge, hawaii and NC beach trips. Very impressed by the build quality and functionality. I have not used the overload feature yet. No matter what I strap on or load up it feels very so light. I would give anything for a larger version of this backpack. Highly recommend it

It is not budget friendly but the quality is good. Wish the pack utilize pockets in the inside. When I am trying to store small stuff inside the pack, I really don't have a way to.

I have used this pack for two years now for backpacking a few times and 2 elk seasons here in Montana. Love the pack. It rides well, very adaptable to different tasks, have yet to run into any volume issues, and can handle heavy loads. Only downside is some of the quality. Had a buckle break on the bottom that was holding my sleeping bag while I was hiking last year. I am not sure how to replace it since the tab securing it is a sewn loop. Then one of the side pockets has torn open. Not sure how it happened since I have only had a fly rod in that pocket. Would love to give this pack a 5 star, but for the cost, the quality is lacking.
