After a week of consistently wearing the shoes, they have shown to have the quality and comfort that I have come to expect from Merrell's products. I have used the shoes for running and everyday use.

Great grip and modest cushioning for runs less than 15 miles, these fit snug through the midfoot with room in the toe box to splay. Exceptional value compared to other brands. Another winner for Merrell.

First Merrell trail shoe, and I'm super impressed! I've ran in similar Scott's, Nike's, Salomons, VJ's, and for the price this shoe can't be beat. Fit is very comfortable (sized up 1/2) and supportive where I like it for technical trails. Some say it's narrow, but as a wider forefoot person, I disagree and believe it is just right (med width). Materials are very durable, with no rubbing on the foot anywhere. I'm on 200 miles, and there are no rips or holes, tread is wearing, but still about 50%. The midsole is firm, but has a nice bounce to it, and the shoe is super fast and agile. Rock protection is top notch as well. I would like to see the outsole swapped with the Vibram Megagrip, which might provide a bit more grip on the slick, but the in-house material does the job. Incredibly impressed with the job done, and hope to see this shoe get more attention out there.

I've done about 5 runs in these shoes after starting to really run consistently in an old pair of ASICS. There is a substantial difference that has really improved my overall running experience. They are light and I feel faster in them. They're comfortable, even after some longer runs. So far after these 5 runs I have done my fastest 5k, first 10 mile and first half marathon. I'm considering ordering a second pair now so I'll have them when this pair is worn down. Also, the exuberance color pattern is excellent and fun

I have had the chance to take these out for a couple runs and have been quite pleased while on the trails. My summary says it all, they feel very fast and light while running and on the foot. They also amazingly protect well and hold up against sticks, rocks and other obstacles. It's a great combo of comfort and strength that is needed while running on any trails. Durability seems great, although it is early in their life span. Great shoe would highly recommend.

I"ve been trail running in the Skyfire for almost 2 months, roughly 15 miles/ week. I picked this model because of the weight and have not been disappointed. The grip has been great as well. The trails around me aren't rocky but the tread has performed really well. Overall, I've been very happy with my pair of Skyfire.

I've been running on wooded trails with the SkyFire this spring and am impressed so far (probably 100 miles on them). It's been a wet spring and so far so good with the outsole and grip - no falls, some minor slips but I'd blame user error more than anything on that. My trails haven't really tested the rock plate but I have noticed the midsole feels a little stiffer because of it. Not a bad thing, just something I noticed. I expected my feet to feel tight in these, they look narrow to me when I'm looking down at my feet but no complaints, my feet have been happy. No noticeable spots wearing through on the upper at this point.

I was looking for a nice trail runner, and these fit the bill. Solid feeling, with lots of grip, but they're super light and i feel almost barefoot in the way that I'm able to feel the trail beneath my feet. If you're an ultra lightweight backpacker, these are a great option for 3 seasons out of the year.

I go through some very steep rocky terrain. I compare to having you're spikes on at the golf course. Works great for hiking or running. Not to wear on streets though they will not last long.

Fits like a standard Merrell moab. Very light weight, good traction but the material of the entire upper is very light, I am hoping that it will not let me down on the steep slopes. It kind of feels like you foot could slide through the side of the Trail runner. So far in a few hikes it has help up just fine.

Good decent all around shoe. Lugs are aggressive. Can be used from road to trail and back again. Fit true to size.

I first tested this shoe out on a not very technical dirt trail in the Phoenix area. Overall the shoe felt good, I felt supported and like there was enough traction for rockier sections of trail. My only issue with the shoe is it is a bit tighter in the toes than I would like. Towards the end of my run I could feel my toes needing more space.

I received my pair and headed out on the trails the next day for a 4+ mile trek. The shoe had a very comfortable fit with good stability right out of the box. The grip even on wet rocks and roots was solid. The cushioning was firm and not too soft. The fit remained very comfortable even as I climbed and descended. I am usually a 12 in road shoes and the size 12 here fit perfectly. I am very happy with my purchase of the skyfire and would definitely recommend them.

I just received these. They look like very nice shoes, but someone at the factory screwed up the size label or something. The label and box say US 13 but they can't be bigger than an 11. Here's a photo of actual US 13 (the blue ones that I also just got from Merrell and fit great) and the MTL Skyfire (gray) that is clearly not the same size. I'm returning these. Not sure if I should order another pair...

They run narrow si if you have wide feet make sure you order a wide. I wear them in the OR and they slip easier on wet floors then i thought they would

I am keeping these, because they are comfortable. But what's compelling me to write this review is that the sole is very slippery on wet pavement. I was hoping this would go away but after putting 20 miles on them this is still the case. I run a bunch of street between my house and the trail and I'm not going to use these for that any more. I'm keeping them to use any time I'm driving to a trail as they are very comfortable. These might run small. My previous Merrells, Aglilty Peak Flex 3, fit me perfectly in a size 12. I needed a size 13 of the MTL Skyfire.

Love the style and design of the shoe - unfortunately I had to return my size 11 for a 11.5 as the toe piece was a bit too snug and uncomfortable.

After putting a couple hundred miles on the shoes in a variety of terrain types on the east coast, from the Appalachians to FL. My experience with the comfort and breathability haven't changed. They are very breathable and drain water superbly. The upper has no signs of abrasion (which was a concern at first) but its proved to be durable. Added pictures. Major flaw is the outsole. While it has good lugs and grip in sand, mud and normal terrain, when rocks and solid wood objects have water on them the outsole becomes dangerous to rely on. Creek crossings, wet rocks when getting water and any wood bridges with water become a major hazard. Ive noticed when wearing them indoors on tile they have the same sense as if you were wearing socks and just sliding around, and that's the same experience on wet objects. Of the trail runners, I've found these to be the most slippery shoe in these conditions Ive had.

Great fit. Excellent show but it was falling apart out of the box. Unfortunately Zappos does not let you specify that when returning and there were no more in stock.

After making trial runners with roomier toe boxes, Merrell took a real step back here. I wear 13 M and don't usually need a wider shoe, but this one squeezes pretty badly. Don't recommend to anyone with larger feet who don't have an explicitly narrow foot.
