Third pair of chameleons in the last several years. By far some of the most comfortable durable footwear I've owned.

Great hikers. I bought two pair, waterproof and non waterproof. Non waterproof are a bit more comfortable.

Most comfortable pair of shoes ever! I roughly walk 15k-20k steps a day, and have bought 2 pairs of these shoes every year for the past 15 years.

This is my first pair of hiker shoes like this. They were comfortable out of the box and I did an 8 mile hike on day one with no issues. They are holding up well I have roughly 200 miles on them now. I'm anticipating 500-750 before they are worn out. I really like the laces I'm not sure what they are called but they are easy to use. Overall I am pleased with the quality vs. cost of the shoes.

Very comfortable shoes. I wear size 11 and these fit perfect. If you tuck the laces down into the laces themselves, they stay out of the way. Great shoes with tons of grip!

I normally wear 11 1/2 Medium. That's what I ordered and the fit is perfect. I ordered black. They have a slight "midnight blue" hue, but with a little dust and wear I don't even notice it anymore. These things slip on quick and easy. They are like wearing a moccasin on a running shoe sole. Unmatched for comfort. I wear for LE/Investigative work. I have them on for 10-12 hours at a time. I intend to buy these again and again, until they stop production. Also, thanks to Merrell for the first responder discount. It really makes for a tremendous value. I used to wear Danner Acadia and Nike Special Duty boot. Danner got too expensive for my taste and the politics at Nike are a no-go for me. Merrell all the way!

I have looked at this shoe for years and finally purchased a pair from a local retailer. They scream "put me on and let's go for a hike." I have backpacking boots, but for everyday use and long walks on dirt roads and trails, these are my new go-to. They accept an aftermarket insole without changing the fit. They have been out in miles of dirt, mud, and snow. I am really impressed with the sole from a comfort and protection perspective. My Chameleons provide much more protection than my running shoes. I have worn them barefoot and with a wool sock. From the pictures, they looked flat but there is a heel (a good thing for me). Glad I tried them on and will purchase another pair. I don't intend to use them as climbing shoes, mountaineering/backpacking boots, or while woodcutting. Every day grab and go. Age 63.

I've owned a dozen or more Merrell shoes over the last decade and these rate as one of, if not the best.

These are my 5th pair of Chameleon Stretch shoes. They are the best shoesI have ever owned. My first pair I ever bought I saw in a store and didn't really want to pay that much for shoes. I tried them on and I couldn't imagine how great they were. It made every other shoe seem clunky. They just wrap around your foot and you are one with your shoe and the traction is excellent. I love having then on and it makes me feel nimble. This version seems to fit better than ever. However I do have to use a shoehorn to get them on but I can't say enough about how much I love them, and I'm a guy who usually doesn't care about such stuff. These are the exception. I hope they keep making a version of these until I die because I don't ever want to be without them. They are the BEST!!

This is my third pair of Chameleons, so you can imagine I love them. For light to medium hiking and all day walking, I have had no better shoes! Tried many and keep coming back.
For me, there is no break in. They are comfortable out of the box. Took this latest pair on a trip to Mexico where we visited two archeological sites, hiked the jungle and hiked rugged rocky areas as well as trail walked. Put between 8-9 miles a day on average. All in perfect comfort.
Down side? Almost none. They are not quite as rugged as other full leather upper hiking boots. But they are also not claiming to be. What you gain is extreme comfort.
The souls are still pretty rugged and firm, with a bit of flex beyond what you would get from a typical hiking boot.
I will likely never be without a pair of Chameleons. PLEASE DON'T DISCONTINUE MAKING THEM!

Years ago, I had an earlier version of the Chameleon Stretch. It was my favorite walking/hiking shoe of all time. I wore those shoes until they literally fell apart. I thought that this style was no longer being made because none of my local stores carried them. When I discovered that Merrell still made the Chameleon and, in fact had upgraded its design, I was thrilled and immediately placed an order.
I am happy to report that the Chameleon 8 is as good as my former version, maybe a little better. Just like the old version, the Cham-8 fits my foot like a glove. There are no pressure points and the heal cup fits very snuggly. Although I no longer have my old Chameleons for comparison, it appears that Merrell has made this version slightly taller than its predecessor. Not quite a "mid" but taller than a hiking shoe. The difference is slight but the added support is noticeable.
My foot measures a US 9.5 D+. I bought a 10 D and the fit is great. The only thing that may be an issue for some is that the shoe can be a little hard to put on. While this shoe is technically a "slip on" the opening is tight. I ended up buying a shoe horn, (remember those), to help my heal slide into the shoe. This solved the problem.
I am happy to report that the Chameleon 8 Stretch, has become my new favorite walking/hiking shoe.
