I purchased this pair of Merrels because the two pairs of Merrels I have been wearing for the dozen years were starting to look pretty ratty. I ordered size 10. I have always worh 9-1/2D or 10C. They are a little snug but hopefully they will break in. They look good so I wear them for more formal occasions.

I loved these slip on rugged shoes…until they started to groan/sqeak after less than 15 walks around the neighborhood. My Crocs Santa Fe comfy shoes started to look a bit worn & threadbare and I love my Merrell winter boots so much I replaced them with these slip-ons. All was going well, as the Vibram sole is very stable & inspires confidence unlike some other slip-on shoes I’ve tried. The elastic lace design is very easy to adjust, but mine ended up being a bit too long since I went up a half size (13.5 & went 14 as suggested by others). Unfortunately, I noticed both shoes starting to make a groaning noise in the rear of the heel cup yesterday on every step as the heel made contact & again as I stepped off. I took them off & can make the noise merely by pushing down with my thumb at a 45 degree angle at the very back. Not sure if it’s a flaw on this pair alone, but my 4 star comfort rating is going to force me to return/exchange them for something else. I can feel the stiff material around the heel on the lower edge of my ankles & I’d prefer a shorter design or something smoother inside that area. Great shoes, but not quite perfect.
I'd also recommend:

Love this shoe!!! I bought for working and the occasional hike but theyre so comfortable I just wear them every wear. Buying a second pair now as theyve replaced pull on boots for me.
They run big. Im usually an 11 and the 10.5 fits perfect.

My husband is a diabetic and his podiatrist says these are great shoes for his condition. He has worn Merrills for many years. Great support even on the golf course.

I bought these shoes as an everyday walking shoe. The back of the shoe has cardboard that is now pushing through the material. I have had them for one year and 6 months so I take that into consideration with the rating. Also, for only wearing it around town these shoes get dirty quick. I think I will try a different shoe next time

Snug fit makes for secure ankle support but needs thin tight socks. Hard to slip on without having socks choke your toes because of the non-tongued sleeve type design.! Fall weather I just wear without socks hoping they loosen up some by Summer in order to get back into them with socks on comfortably. They don't come in wide. I usually like to order wide for roomier comfort in my shoes.

I have bought these shoes for the last 10 years. they WERE the best. Unfortunately something with design has changed and now i get very loud squeaking in the last two pairs i have purchased. So loud that it turns heads in Home Depot and annoys my customers.

The shoe is really nice and comfortable. The only difference between this pair and my previous pair as the with of the tread under the heal is more narrow and I have twisted at my ankle twice already so you need to be careful.

I love Merrell shoes and have bought many Chameleons over the years. It was my favorite. Then a while back, Merrell altered the shoe so drastically I couldnt even get it on over my instep. Thankfully, they then veered back closer to the original a couple years ago. Sadly, this chameleon 8 is a disappointing departure from their winning formula. Please bring back the Chameleon classic! In the meantime, Im happy with my Merrell Nova 2s, but I still miss the Chameleon classic

Excellent hiking/walking shoe, and comfortable right out of the box, a trait of all the Merrells that I have owned. I broke them in while hiking in Iceland and Norway and never had any problem with pressure points or hot spots. I have deducted one star for lateral stability, due to a tendency to roll to the side which I noticed while hiking through a scree field, but in fairness that type of use would be better suited for a full boot. Would definitely buy again.

My last pair of Chameleons, I've taken to hiking in Iceland, 80 mile hike in Scotland, countless miles in Texas. I just wished they were made back here in the USA.

Well... I purchased these to take to Africa, when I received them the elastic laces were so long I couldn't wear them. I went through Merells lengthily return policy asking them to send me new shoes, however they said they would send me new elastic laces. Well almost 4 weeks later and our Africa trip complete, I have yet to see the new laces!
At this point I wouldn't recommend!

I have had 2 pairs of the Chameleon 8 stretch for over a year. Comfortable, great fit, well made, and durable! I love the bungee laces for quick and easy on and off. Im always in a hurry and have always hated tying and untying my shoes. I will buy another 2 pairs when these wear out.

Wanted to love them, but, returning. The stretch neoprene makes it a struggle to put them on. I dont want to dpend ten minutes putting shoes on. Styling is great, they were comfortable once I got them on.

I'm still breaking these shoes in however, I can offer the following positives:
- comfortable on rough terrain, on project sites and over city hikes
- the soles feel resilient
- uppers are fairly sturdy whilst retaining some flexibility; I like the bungy laces
Only real negative is they are a bit of a struggle to pull on.

I should’ve listened to other reviewers who stated this newer version of the Chameleon was much narrower in foot box and sole!
