The insole is paper thin.

My shoes are comfortable overall, but I rely on Dr. Scholl's foot inserts to prevent pain in my legs and feet, especially since I work at the Amazon Warehouse and I'm constantly on the move. These inserts provide the extra support I need to work without discomfort. However, the steel tip of the shoes is a concern. Its larger size makes it difficult for me to gauge proximity to objects, leading to frequent trips on steps, rocks, and twigs.

I buy the new balance 589 every year with my Amazon Shoe Allowance. They fit true to size and feel like I’m wearing a New Balance Tennis Shoe. Only complaint I would have is I have to add a $10 cushion insert into the shoe every 3 months or so because there’s not much cushion in the original shoe as is. Overall it’s an excellent work shoe, I’ve never slipped while wearing them and they hold up very well.

Under daily use I would rate this a 6 month shoe. I stretched it out for a year replacing the insoles along the way. The fabric and foam padding near the ankle became loose and torn months ago but the rest maintained usability. Very hard sole to be standing on for 10hr days. It would be excellent if there was more padding on the soles.

These shoes are my personal go-to, the wide size has plenty of room and (especially at the front toe cap) and the shoe seems to hold up reasonably well to regular abuse at my warehouse job. I will note that all of the pairs I've ever bought seem to develop similar tearing at the crease point (just underneath the lacing where the shoe bends), but it only starts tearing after around 6-8 months of hard use and it seems to be largely cosmetic as it only effect the outer layer of fabric. My only serious issue with the shoes is that they offer VERY little arch support or comfort with the original foam inserts, good-quality insoles are seriously recommended if you want to use them on concrete for a prolonged period.

These were nice, a little heavy compared to today's lighter weight options that other brands are offering. I replace the insoles with a different insole as after a couple of hours of wearing them, my lower back started to bother me. These although comfortable, these are definitely not made for walking long distances. If you do a lot of walking in your job I would recommend something else.
