I have ordered this shoe twice, in 4 different sizes , and each time I have had to return them . My daughter also ordered a pair and same thing: she had to return them. The sizes make no sense . The order slip shows the sizes I ordered , the boxes show different sizes from what I ordered. . it happened 3 times ( 2 orders from me with two sizes each time and one for my daughter) and each time i ended with shoes way too big. I am giving up buying and returning the shoes. Someone at Altra should really review this problem..

Poorly made, size too small, too flat for your feet and no support at all. The only good things was that they were light but besides that everything else was just bad. Such a disappointment.

I have had 3 versions of Superior and 2 of the Escalante that I love! These were the right feel! I even bought 2 pairs but the major issue was there was NO flexibility which is essential in a barefoot shoe. You can feel the rubber pads dig through the cushion other than those two these would be the perfect shoes! The rubber wears really quickly but worth the weight being SO light! These would be the perfect shot if they were flexible and the pads on the bottom were expanded.

I have raced 5-k in the shoe 2 times, once on pavement, the other on a well groomed dirt trail. Only 8 miles of 56 total have been run on pavement, and the soles are tearing apart. 7 of the other 8 Altra models I own / have owned have been very good shoes, but the Vanish has been a waste of money. I hope to get another 35 miles of speed work on the track and cinder trails before disposing of them in the trash.

So I bought the Instinct shoes back in 2012 and they were awesome. Finally a pair of shoes that didnt force my pinky toe under my other toe! Then after a couple years I bought the newer version Instinct, lasted up until October of 2018 the soles came unglued multiple times. Then I bought these assuming they would last a couple of years. I wear these in an office setting environment, meaning I sit a lot at work indoors. IE i dont walk or run much. Probably the only outdoor action they see is to and from my car. After a few short months the sole is nearly all worn away and the toes have holes in them. My Instincts lasted years, and I used to run half marathons. Bad knees can't run anymore. Spent over a hundred for shoes that didn't last a mile. My biggest pet peeve is that they cannot be shipped on or off. I always had to tie and untie them. Also didnt have that issue with other Altra shoes
