La Sportiva is my go-to for hiking and trail running shoes. In general, their brand runs small with sizing. However, the Jackal model is even SMALLER than regular sportivas! I am usually a size 39.5 (womens 8) in La Sportiva, already sized up from any other brand. I ordered the 39.5 and had to re-order and size up again to a 40. La Sportiva cannot get their sizes right.
They are extremely comfortable shoes, though. I love them! I have narrow feet, so these are perfect. They have the traditional narrow La Sportiva heel. The bottom of the shoe is extremely grippy and works wonderfully for my trail running needs. I also love the "celery" yellow color.

I normally wear a 39 or 40 but in La Sportiva I have to go up a size which is why I ordered the 41. That said, I think I should have gone with the 40.5 as they are a bit bigger than I like. I also own the Lycan II, and those fit me perfectly at size 41 right out of the box. These are cushy and comfortable but I got a blister on my heel on my first hike so I haven't worn them for anything more than around town walking. I think maybe a set of Superfeet insoles would help.

I have tried about 20 different sneaker type shoes and these are the best! The color is great and the comfort is the best!

These definitely run small, as others have said. I tried a half size larger, but still too short/narrow. A full size larger was just right in length, and tho I always need a Wide width, these "Mediums" are rounded & wide enough. The cushion is noticeable, but not quite as much as the Karacal. But the Jackal has a moderate arch, the Karacal has a very high/firm arch.

This Jackal doesn't have quite the custom fit as the Karacal, but still very cushy and roomy in the toes. I always need a Wide width, but this toe box and the Karacal's are round & wide enough to work. I first ordered my usual 7.5 in an athletic shoe, but the Jackal definitely runs very small, as others have said. So, I ordered a 8.5 but it was too long. I'm going to try the 8, which should be perfect in length and still wide enough. Thank you, awesome Zappos, for allowing us hard-to-please shoe shoppers to return & reorder!

I normally wear a size US9/EU 40 (avg width) and ordered a half size up 40.5. The shoe fit well through heel cup and felt stable and densely cushioned underfoot but still lightweight. Ultimately, they ran smaller than I anticipated (as other reviewers mentioned) and I will exchange. I was pleasantly surprised that the colors were slightly more muted than in picture. The laces are a bit skimpy in length.

The Jackal is an exceptional trail shoe built for long distance. I mostly used this shoe for 20+ mile trail runs in steep / technical terrain, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. To get a primo fit, I sized up and took the footbed out of my left shoe (my left foot is slightly longer), and to navigate heel slippage I do a simple heel-lock with the laces. I do not have a wide foot, but the wide toe box feels wonderful and helps with foot swelling mid run. Finally, the tongue feels great on my high instep. All around a great shoe for me.

I have a 8 E-width foot (narrow-ish ankle, wide forefoot) with a high-ish instep and these were roomy and high-volume enough to fit my feet perfectly! Sized up 2 EU sizes (apparently this model ran small) and they work great. The shoe did dig into my heel a little when I first bought it, but it's broken in since then and hasn't posed an issue since.

Someone recommend I try these for trails. I am a size 7 but I usually wear a 7.5 for trail runners. The fit is great, leaving me a little room at the toes. Great arch support. Super cute too!

I've been using my jackals for city runs and mixed trail/pavement surfaces and I love them! They have a lot of cushion, which feels nice on the body when running on hard city surfaces. They also have a wider toe box and are super comfortable. The jackals have become a regular part of my running 'fit.

The La Sportiva Jackal has made my entry back into running great. The Jackal is well cushioned and supportive - which is a plus for me because I occasionally suffer from shin splints. I've been trying to keep a steady routine of running three days a week for a total of 10 miles a week as I'm slowly getting back into the swing of running again and am happy to report that I have not felt my shin splints flair up after wearing the Jackal. These shoes are now my go to shoes for about any activity - whether that's jogging around my neighborhood, hiking at one of my favorite local spots or just running errands around town.
Sizing of the shoe feels on par with most of La Sportiva's other shoes. I ordered a size 6.5 (37.5 EU) in the La Sportiva Jackal and haven't felt the back of the shoe rub against my achilles or like the shoe was too small for my feet. The size I ordered in the Jackal is one half-size up from what I ordered in the La Sportiva Boulder X and TX4 approach shoes (size 6/37 EU), which also fit my feet well. The half size up gives my feet a little room to breathe without feeling like I'm slipping out of the shoe. It also is roomy enough for when my feet start to swell after a run. So far I've logged 145 miles (walking/running) in the Jackal and they've felt amazing on my feet.
What surprised me the most about the Jackal was how lightweight the shoe is. Looking forward to putting many more miles in the La Sportiva Jackal!

These shoes are awesome, and I'm so glad bc I have been somewhat plagued by PFS for the past year. PT and a more supportive shoe have really been a great solution for me (disclaimer: not providing medical advice, just what worked for me). I also find the wide toe to be really comfortable. I don't have wide feet, but I do get some swelling, particularly when I run at altitude. A couple of things...the sizing runs a little small, so I got a 38, whereas I normally get a 37.5 in Sportiva running shoes, and it's perfect. I also like that there are two colors because it makes it a lot easier for me to remember to rotate my shoes between runs (a recommendation from my PT).
I also think that the yellow ones are cute for just wearing around. I have worn them with mom jeans and received compliments from people whose sense of fashion I respect. So there is that too.

I got this shoe just about a month ago and I absolutely love it. The shoe offers all-day comfort when I am running, and the wider toe box helps when my feet start to swell up.
The support and extra cushion is also a plus!

Finding an ultra distance running shoe with adequate traction, protection and stability is almost impossible..until now!
I've had a lot of "maximally" cushioned shoes over the years and my one big complaint has always been lack of stability and enough protection for technical terrain.
With the right balance of cushioning and stability, you can run long miles without the same fatigue from a squishy platform that let's your foot "slide" around in the shoe. Additionally, I found the 7mm drop to be of great advantage on the down hill. The toe box seems to have plenty of room for your foot to swell over long miles and still be comfortable.
Super psyched to put these to the final test when I can finally run another race. For now, I'll settle for a looong "backyard challenge."
-I sized up a half size from my US street shoe but you may want to go even more.

I was so excited about the wide toe box and general overall fit of these shoes... but then I realized that these suffer from a common problem for those of us with small feet. The sidewalls are TOO HIGH and sharp so if your foot is not totally level they jabbed me under my ankle bones. I've had this problem before and it's a bummer... so I returned them.

These are la sportivas that are true to size, my others I had to size up a half a size, but not this style!! The back was a little high as many others have commented about. The arch and got felt great besides that. I had to return them because I needed to size to my true shoe size. I ended up ordering another la sportive shoe with a lower back.

Took my new Jackal for an 10km technical trail run and felt really good. The traction and stability made the technical descent easier; light and responsive, I really enjoyed my first 10km in those shoes!
