This jacket is light weight, easily compresses, is well made and very warm. This has become my go to backpacking jacket due to its weight, warmth and pack ability. I was initially concerned about its durability, but as with other lightweight gear, proper care means I will be using this jacket for many years. I'm 5'10" tall and 170 lbs. I purchased the large size and it fits me great. It's just big enough to allow for layering.

Light weight. Well-fitted. Good warmth for the weight. Very comfortable. Use as backup layer for climbing. Appropriately thin material so would use a shell if chimney climbing or skiing/boarding through tight trees where it might get snagged. Packs into its own small pocket so easy to bring in pack as emergency bivy gear.
5'11", 155lbs, size small fits perfectly.

Bought this to wear under my shell while skiing and am beyond pleased with its performance. I tried it out for a week at Snowshoe, WV with temperatures ranging from 20 degrees at the beginning of the week to 59 degrees by the end of the week (gotta love the southeast). This jacket kept me toasty throughout the colder days. Later in the week, as the temperatures started to warm up, I'd wear it without the shell in the morning then pack it up in the stow pocket at lunch time when it got hot. I loved being able to carry it in the pocket of my ski pants to avoid having to run back to the lockers. Really happy with the purchase, I didn't having any issues with the material ripping, but I wasn't scraping it against rocks or anything like that. Looking forward to using it again and would highly recommend for anyone looking for an ultralight-weight, super-warm jacket that is compact when stowed in its pouch.

Not as warm as expected for everyday use (I.e. waking around town, waiting for my car to heat up in the AM). Even in 30-35F days I don't find this jacket to be all that warm unless I'm relatively active or wearing a HEAVY mid layer. Realizing that this was designed to be as light weight as possible, I can appreciate the sleek unbulky feel though. It looks and feels really good. When wearing while doing something pretty active in the high teens or warmer it's fine. If you need to pack it, the low weight and small pack size is great. Wish MH had a jacket of this quality with slightly more insulation but it looks like the next step up is a full blown parka. Bought this to replace an old tattered TNF Morph jacket which was similarly priced with 800 fill down but still find myself grabbing for it over the Ghost Whisperer if it's in the 20'sF. A bit overpriced for how much insulation is in it imo but a decent buy if you plan to primarily use for highly active situations or plan to wear heavy layers underneath.

I've owned 2 of these and have loved them both for their light weight and surprising warmth. My only complaint is that the zipper is flimsy. Both of mine have failed after a couple of years of use. I'd rather MH use a slightly heavier and beefier zipper. Having said that, I wear this coat a lot and don't plan to switch.

A essential part of everyone's hiking kit like all ultralight gear there are pros and cons good to around 35 degrees and you need a shell if it starts raining

A slightly slimmer fit than my other XL Mountain Hardwear jacket, but otherwise great.

Great piece of equipment. I would pay extra for a chest phone pocket even with the slight added weight

The good: really lightweight, warm, looks good.
The bad: Ripped within a year despite being careful.

I replaced my beloved stretchdown jacket with this. Nowhere near as warm, but is as warm as any other jacket of the same weight. The cut is just as good. I preferred the matte finish to the plastic bag look, and I miss a water resistant coating. MHW seems to have de-emphasized them, but I would like something to cover the walk from the car.

Purchased the jacket for my adult son. Exactly as it looks in the picture. Although needed to return for a larger size. The returned and reordered proccess was smooth. Recommending to order up a size, it runs slightly smaller than the true size. My son is warm and sporting his new jacket.

Great emergency jacket for backpacking or backcountry ski; packs down very small. It did not come with a stuff sack and the claim that it packs into its own pocket is dubious and provides no protection for the thin fabric. I bought a men's small which I usually wear; the cut on this is a bit weird: accurate fit in the chest and armpits, but loose in the torso. It is not what I'd call form fitting. That said, it does not have much volume, so it fits under a shell.

This is a great lightweight down jacket that needs just a little fine tuning to make it awesome. It is comfy, warm and light. What does it need?
1. The cuffs need some type of elastic and the hood would be better if it was adjustable. This will help to keep drafts out.
2. The fit on the body is loose versus a tight fit under the arms. I'm not a large person but I believe a bit slimmer fit on the body will help with the overall sizing. If I would have sized down, the underarms would be too tight to comfortably maneuver my arms.
3. Add either a chest or inside pocket
4. I know this jacket is aimed for ul customers but adding a nylon lining (maybe 7D) to the inside would elevate its quality and maybe wind resistance. The inside stitching is well done but the jackets looks too basic for its price point.

This is a great jacket.. but is lacking in pockets. There's only two, nothing on the inside, nothing on the chest area. Otherwise, it's a solid jacket. I'm skinny, it doesn't really fit around my torso area that well. Hoping that they correct this on the next version or switching

Great outer material but the jacket lacks an internal pocket, an external pocket and a way to tighten down the hood

Bought this a year ago for climbing in the Cascades. Except for the warmest summer days, I still had to wear my heavy puffy jacket over it (meaning I might as well have left this one home) to stay warm. Comfortable, fits great, looks sharp, but not nearly warm enough to justify the price.

Weird fit and color, 5'10, 175lbs, athletic build. Got a medium as that it what I wear in most outdoor gear. Bought this to replace an arcteryx cerium SL size medium, which fits perfect. This jacket had a lot of space in the mid section, and then not enough room in the shoulders. Disappointed because I have wanted one of these forever.

This jacket is noticeably warm for its size. It's light. It's packable. However, it is inexcusable that it does not have a hood cinch cord or elastic band to keep the hood tight. This is a jacket to be worn as an insulation layer. Ostensibly, the hood would be pulled up for colder temps and/or wind. A loose hood is a non-starter. It allows wind in. It prevents a tight seal to trap warmth. I own several jackets that solve this issue without adding any noticeable weight. It's tiring to keep trying products that see weight as the defining factor. Function is equally as important.

Fit was too tight in the back for me. When I tried to cross my arms or do tasks outstretched it dug into my back near my armpits. The next size up was unfortunately way too big.

Lightweight puffer that works well for layering. Certainly not a bomb-proof outer puffer if that's what you're looking for.
Deducting 2 stars for lack of drawstring on the hood and waist. At this price point, those should be obvious.

Nice looking and nice feeling jacket but really slim fitting through the chest and shoulders, but strangely not slim fitting around the stomach and waist. I generally fit perfect in XL with Mountain Hardwear, but it this was way to snug and does not have flexible material so you'd have to size up. The problem with sizing up is all the extra baggage around the stomach.

Decent jacket but flaws and overpriced. Wrists are loose and no way to tighten. No inside pockets. Can't cinch hood. Fabric very thin. Super cheap zipper

Fabric is not durable. I have multiple holes in the jacket with down feathers coming out. I've been putting high quality tape on it so more down doesn't come out. For the price of the jacket, I would not recommend due to the durability. However, it is very light, packable and warm. Too bad it isn't as durable as it claims to be.
