This is an ideal winter jacket for everyday wear. At 550 fill, I will still need to layer up underneath on extreme winter days (Canadian prairies) but any more insulation would make it uncomfortably warm on average days.
The fit to me is large. I often wear a L but M fits me well with this jacket. There is even room to wear a lightweight down sweater underneath in the bitter cold. A drawstring at the waist would be nice but it isn't a deal killer.
I bought this jacket because TNF states it as goose down in their specifications. Many manufacturers don't say because they use duck down, which isn't nearly as good. That includes trendy brand names at twice the price.
Well done, TNF. You built a versatile jacket at a reasonable price. Getting it on sale made for an easy decision.

Loose enough to layer when it's cool, light enough for warm weather. Great fit and details. Good coverage for tough rain

I will use this fishing as an outer shell for wind breaking and for wet weather. It could be used as a light weight jacket, and certainly for rain gear. It will packaway when not needed. Multipockets are very helpful.

I used this jacket as an outer layer during a 60 minute walk in a 40 degree rain shower. The water beaded up and rolled off keeping me completely dry. Seems and zippers didn't leak.
I love the color. It's unique, not black and not too flashy. I have an athletic build and the cut of the jacket offers a compliment to my physique. It's not boxy like many rain jackets.
Overall I'm very impressed with the quality and the style.

This is a great jacket just a little misunderstood. This jacket runs very large and is made to be worn over another jacket. If you want it for that reason stick with your normal sizing. If you want to wear it as your only jacket then size down. I am 6' 1" and weight 215 ish pounds with a athletic build and I wear a medium. I still have room for a sweatshirt underneath. If you get the sizing right this will be your favorite jacket!!

Love this jacket. Iconic North Face style and a great price. It's a great waterproof jacket for day hikes and rainy days in the city. More colors please!

Sized right. Protects well from rain. Replaced my last North Face rain jacket that was 12 years old. Only reason it didn't get a 5, hood is a little strange as it drops over my face.

I always buy and use LARGE, so I ordered L. It looks like a XXL on me: Too loose on the body. Much too long sleeves.

North Face has become a young hip clothing company. My aging body no longer fits their clothes. Good while it lasted
