After greatly anticipating this release I bought the Mach 3, and after about 2-3 months (lost track of time w COVID) of running on these I have to say they are not nearly as comfortable on long runs as the predecessor Mach versions. I originally got the Mach for the Kona 70.3 and fell in love. Unfortunately, this versions upper is much less breathable and less compliant. That and the sole at the forefoot feels very stiff and has led to blisters on It's feet on the regular. Something I never experienced in my previous Machs.
On the plus side the ride is still great. SUPER lightweight shoe w good stability.
Only gave 3 stars bc I believe in Hoka's ability to improve on this showing (otherwise if this was the first attempt at Mach it would have been lower). Sorry. I wish this review could be better.

Particularly like knowing that Hoka listens. I'd complained about the crazy long shoelaces, and on my latest purchase they were a perfect length.

Same experience as Sadly, Diisappointed reviewer. I've run in the Mach, Mach 2 and have just under 200 miles on the Mach 3. In comparison with the Mach 2, the Mach 3 is:
- too tight in the toe box. The Mach 2 was too wide, even with thick socks, but the Mach 3 is way too tight even with the lightest socks. If your feet are slightly narrower than average, this may not be a problem.
- much less breathable. I've need had sweat salt stains on my shoes before. If you run short distances or in cooler climates, this may not be a problem, but running 6-9 miles in high 60s and above temperatures causes my feet to sweat beause of the fabric.
Although the Mach 3 causes my feet problems, it's not uncomfortable enough for me to stop running in them. I'll probably skip the next version, and wait for the Mach 5.

I purchased a men’s shoe because of the color, I’m a woman. I ordered the size recommended and overall it fits but a tad more narrow across the foot than I expected. I do tend to wear thick socks so thinner socks have made it work. I’m pleased with my purchase.

Great deal! these shoes are just so comfortable and i loved them. I am recovering from a sudden serious condition (GBS) that almost got me paralyzed last December, so as a passionate runner I was feeling awful. This same condition got my feet tingling and very sensitive so not all shoes could do. The sole of my new Hoka shoes is just very soft and absorbs the shocks in a way that I do not feel any pain and I can enjoy my gradual going back to running. Good job!

I cannot tell how the star rating worked out, but if it is not a 5 star, I meant for it to be. I have not worn tennis shoes for probably 25 years as they always make my feet hurt. These, however, have relieved my heel pain and I wear them everyday at school.

I love this shoe! This is my first Hoka shoes and I'm now a big fan. Fits me comfortably even on my first night wearing it to the hospital. I work 12 hours shift in an emergency department and they were really comfortable.

This is my 6th pair of Hoka's and I love this shoe. So glad you kept the Mach format. It's light and fast on the road. Fits my wide foot perfectly and doesn't squeeze at all. Recommend for road runners looking for a light, neutral shoe.

I have been running in the Hoka Mach series from the beginning and have loved each model. Currently have started with the Mach 3 and found them to be an excellent product and true to the description. One improvement I noticed was the new fabric for the tongue. it feels more relaxed and softer then previous models. The sizing again has went back to true shoe sizing. The Mach 2 I had to go down a size for a proper fit. The feel of the Mach 3 is light weight and comfortable. I had run 732 miles in the Mach 2's before ordering the Mach 3. I have always received high mileage with Hoka.

I had been running on Mizuno shoes for many years and recently started to try Hoka. My first pair of Hoka was Clifton 6. I was really impressed with the cushion Hoka shoes provide while being very lightweight, but the size was a bit larger compared to Mizuno. When I ordered my Hoka Mach 3 a few months later, I sticked to the same size, but this time the shoes were too tight, especially the front toe box. Running over 3 miles would give my foots blisters. After calling Zappos customer support, it was suggested a half-size up might help. The replacement came very fast (thank you!). The half-size larger Mach 3 is a good fit, but I still had blisters - this time happened to the arch area. I also felt the arch support was not sufficient. Taking the insoles out to inspect, I found them really thin (guess that also help make the shoes very lightweight) and a bit narrow. I then bought Dr. Scholl's Running Insoles to replace the original insoles, and they work together perfectly! I now can run on them for 6 miles without getting any blister and my legs still feel fresh. Mach 3 is very responsive to help run fast, yet still provides nice cushion like Clifton 6, and Dr. Scholl's Running Insoles provide very good support. It makes running enjoyable, and I plan to buy it again or try its newer version. I would give it 5 stars if the insoles are improved (perhaps just make it slightly wider).
I'd also recommend:

These are great shoes but for my height and size they are not built for me. They are built for getting you in a good comfort zone when you have a walking pace of 14 minutes a mile. But I did change it up from getting my usual Bondi 6.

I'm a Hooka fan. I own Bondi and Clifton. These shoes are light like the Clifton’s, but lack the comfort. The feel is much “harder”.

I use for running. I love the look of this shoe. It's one of the better looking that is offered that the color scheme isn't too wild ( just my taste). The cushion is great for my feet, Only thing I really dislike it that it's just too snug, causes some numbness during my longer runs.

My first pair of Hokas were the Carbon X. I loved these shoes. Put about 600 miles into them. I fell in love with the shoe designs from Hoka and decided to try more styles. I picked up a pair of Clifton 4's, ran over 300 miles, enjoyed the extra cushion, but wanted something more minimal and similar to the Carbon X. I compared the Carbon X to the Mach 3 on the Hoka website. The specs were almost exactly the same so I bought a pair. After two runs in the Mach 3s, I started having insane leg soreness and discomfort. I think after running in the Hoka Clifton 4s for so long, my feet and legs weakened because all the extra cushion. Had major pain and tightness in the bottom of my foot after running in these. I immediately went to my local running store and bought a pair of the Carbon X. All the pain and soreness went away. This is strange considering the Carbon X and Mach 3 specs are exactly the same. Sad I wasted money on these shoes.

I love the look just too small. My feet hurt every time I wear them more than a couple hours (not exercising) and every time I run.
