Nice lightweight, cool shoe. Very comfortable for general wear and pavement walking. Weren't quite substantial enough for walking trails

Loved the color combination (Glacier Grey/Sun Coral), but felt the Gel-Contend 7 provided a bit more support for my feet.

Gel -Contend is a nice looking shoe. I wear a true 8.5 M always...ALWAYS. Every review I read stated the insole is removable...it isn't removable. I wear a metatarsal pad that has to be changed out every couple of months and it is impossible to place correctly without being able to remove insole. I've worn New Balance for a very long time and the style I love is non existent, sadly. As I said, the shoe is nice looking but lacks the above mentioned feature and it's a bit tight. If you have no existing problems you should give it a try, unfortunately it won't work for me. I could never order a wide, so I have no choice- they will be returned which is easy with Zappos great customer service.

I'm not an athlete, so this review is not written from that perspective. These shoes are ok and I'm going to keep them. I take a size 9 in most shoes, so I ordered the 9W and they fit well with a little extra room for heavier socks on cold days. I don't always need a wide width, but am glad I went with the wide in these. If you're on the fence about width, go with a wider width for these shoes. I do not like the soles all that much. The soles are a bit stiffer and less flexible than I like. I've had worse, so it's not enough to make me return the shoes, but I would not order again. I like a softer, more flexible sole underfoot for better feedback from the ground, and these soles are a little too stiff and inflexible. Again, not horribly so, but you can feel it. Maybe they will soften up over time. They are attractive enough and the price was right.

I am usually a size 10 narrow, but I ordered 10.5 medium because my husband has Asics and they tend to run small. 10.5 were very tight in the toe box! Had to exchange for a size 11. So for me it was a full size small, but the 11 size very comfortable. Great for walking.

Fits me well and is pretty comfortable to walk in. I have had more comfy shoes but these come close to what I wanted. More cushioning is the only thing missing for me.

These feel a tad narrower and shorter in the toe box than other athletic shoes. I am returning the pair in size 6 and am keeping the size 6.5 which gives me some extra room in the toes for thicker socks and expansion while taking long walks and jogging.

This is my go-to running shoe. As a bargain shopper, ASICS is the best bang for your buck. I am a heavy runner (28 - 30 miles per week) and this is a comfortable shoe for long distances. I tend to have a wide foot and the "D" width provides a roomy area for the toes. My only complaint (and the reason for the 4 stars) is that I get a hole in the toe fabric within 4 months of running in this shoe.

Unfortunately, these have no arch support at all. It's just a flat insole that isn't removable. It turns out that Asics has a wonderful option that tells you what shoe to buy if you overpronate, underpronate or are just neutral. I overpronate a lot, but this shoe - according to the Asics website - is for underpronation or neutral. Something I'll be paying much more attention to in future!
