My foot measures in-between 8EE and 8.5EE. Pretty much all my shoes and workbooks are 8.5EE and fit great. I must have read reviews that these Yokotas run small so I got a pair of 9EE. I was surprised as soon as I opened the box. They looked small nonetheless their tags listed them as 9EE. They are a bit short and narrow. Surprisingly I should really have a 9.5EE but I kept these anyway. Mine have had issues with seams coming undone and Merrell to their credit sent me a pair of Moab 2 at the same 9EE which are much wider and longer (too big with heel lift)...surprisingly those I should probably have 8.5EE or maybe even 8EE. Merrell makes it tough when their own shoes are not consistently sized.

I've bought near a dozen different Merrells over the years and they have always been extraordinarily comfortable but are always true to size (10 1/2). These are the first that didn't quite hit the mark. They are tight at 10 1/2 and my toes are fairly pinched. Not a bad shoe but they need to be more correctly sized for me to give a positive review.

Nice looking shoe but just like the ALVERSTONE MID WP shoe they are a very comfortable fit but when you stand on them and with every step you take it feels like the heel of your foot is on a ball, very unstable. It feels like the heel of your foot wants to roll either way. I will be returning these as well.

The first issue was they run about a half size small. I've always worn a size 10 and had to exchange for a 10.5. The 10.5's are wider and don't fit as snug they should. How is it possible to be off 1/2 size? Second, the sole has a bit of a heel rather than being flat. I prefer more arch support, but for some reason shoe manufacturers rarely include this type of support. Merrell has long been my go to shoe brand, after this experience I may think twice next time.

I had to return these finely made shoes because they were too small. When can I receive the refund. Thanks

I really liked the style of this shoe and had no hesitations about thinking they would be comfortable out of the box just like the 8 or 9 pairs of Moabs and Chameleons I've worn for many years. Something is different about these though. These were not as comfortable out of the box, but I thought maybe they needed a little getting used to since my previous pair of shoes were not Merrells. It's been a few days and my feet hurt. The soles feel thin and not as supportive, and there's too much arch. I can't return them now, so I guess it's insoles for me, or they're headed to the donation bin if that doesn't work. I hope it doesn't come to that; really like the style. Merrell has been my go-to brand for a long time, but a little disappointed this time.

I originally ordered a 10.5, since my Merrell hiking boots ran a bit small. The 10.5s were actually too big, so I exchanged for my normal size 10s and they fit great! Insole was comfy, the shoe felt really good... until I walked around in them. The big toe pressed the inside of the shoe. Try as I might, I couldn't get the fit to where it didn't press, so unfortunately I had to return them... So close to being great, but just not quite the right fit for me. Will try another style!

I have had these 2 weeks and worn them once. If 3 STARS is average, these are 3 STARS. Not sure if they will break in nicely or how they will do on a long hike. They look good.... I have not reason to think they will work differently than my other Merrells. I will post up a follow-up review in 6-9 months.

I bought this pair of shoes around a month ago, I average around 3 miles a day on mountain trails. The finger strap on back has already broke on one of the shoes, both are showing the thread that bonds the suede with the protective toe material coming out, the foam rubber type material in between the outsole and the suede is cracking open with gaps in them. I thought I had found the perfect shoe, it fit perfect, the outer sole's are aggressive enough to handle some of the roughest terrain, the arch in them are great and it is a great looking shoe but, the price I paid for them as opposed to a month worth of wearing, I just can't justify buying another pair, but I really liked them, they just started falling apart so quickly.

They fit well and are comfortable, but the soles are thin with no cushion in the fore part. Not very good. Merrell has fallen off and I'll be looking for a different brand of hiking shoe next time.

Hoping to try a different model than Moabs I've been wearing for many years. This one caught my eye as being a bit more breathable. Alas, sizing just is not the same. My shoe size is 10. Has always been 10. Even with a 10.5 these are just too darn short. Buying online and waiting 2 week turnaround I just simply had to abandon this model. I went back to the Moab, as I know this one fits. Bummer....I was hoping for a change. Just can't beat the feel of the comfort of the Moab. Just wish they were a bit cooler.

OK yes I have big feet but I am 6'2" and 210lbs...a retired Marine so I know the meaning of comfortable feet.... and these boots/shoes are much to narrow for a wide width...when I find the time I will send them back they make my feet fall asleep!!...I wore Merrell's when I was out in Iraq and Afghanistan for 13 years when I was a contractor out there...I can not find extra wide sizes...I guess they do not make them any more...

As a longtime Merrill fanatic I expected this shoe to be like my other 4 pair, comfortable and durable. Well, I couldn't get by the comfort stage. Two months in it feels like I am wearing plastic boots with no padding. So disappointed. I know it takes some time to break in but 10 weeks is enough. They say it's not a defect so they won't take them back. I'm Leary about trying another style from Merrill. Their quality is now in question.

I bought this pair of Yokota's in late July 2021. The are not even three months old yet and are falling apart. Please take a look at theses expensive made in Vietnam shoes. I'm am working in desert conditions and these shoes are worn daily. The first thing to fail was a lace loop. I hade to drive a hole into a solid part of the shoe in order to keep wearing them. As you can see by the photo the stitching is also pulling away all over the toe socket area. They are comfortable however it's pointless due to the quality.

This is a terrible shoe the size seems to be at least one size small. I have worn Merrells for years and currently own three pairs. I am partial to Cameleons and just today ordered a new pair and these are true to size. Save your money on the Yokota though inexpensive it is a bust for a value.

The shoe looks great and initially seemed very comfortable when testing around the house. Now that I have owned the shoe for six months, I can say it is horrible. I suffer from fallen arches and the shoe hurts my feet when walking on pavement. When trail walking down an incline, my toes get crushed against the tip of the shoes (yes the shoes are the correct size - they just fail to provide support). My Moab hikers are the best and I should have bought the same in a low cut shoe. The insoles on these shoes seem to have the thinnest layer of cushioning possible as I feel every rock I step on. These shoes would be great for walking on a flat dirt or pine needle covered trail. For my use, I will need to find something else.
