I love Paul Green shoes, have several pairs and have worn them for years. This pair was a disappointment. The leather was too thin and flimsy, and the leather was not finished well around the ankles and chafed when I walked. For the price, these shoes should be comfortable right out of the box. Also they look like they had already been tried on by many people, and were not packaged well.

I own the Paul Green black patent loafer with a lug sole and they are stylish and super comfortable. That said, these brown loafers lacked the pizazz if the black patent and not what I was looking for. Simply not stylish enough and so are not worth the high price for what they are.

Let me start by saying I own 2 other pair of Paul Green shoes, and they're 2 of my favorite pair ever. They are high quality. I've have them for ~15 years now, and they're still comfortable and stylish.
Contrast: this pair seemed so cheaply made on the soles I could hardly believe it. It was super thin rubber - just one layer (not several layers like my old shoes), and the 1 layer had tread so shallow right put of the box that it seem like you would wear it often about 6 months and be walking on slick flats. I still haven't worn down the tread on my shoes I've had for 15 years (although one pair is getting close by now).
The quality difference was shocking. For shoes that cost over $200, I expect them to last more than a few months. While the uppers looked like quality leather, and they were cushy and soft on the inside (typical Paul Green), if your soles are worn down quickly, what's the point? Who cares how nice the uppers are when you can't resole the shoes?
In addition to these quality concerns, rhe shoes were enormously large. I wear a 6 (ordered the recommended 3.5)
and these were easily a 7. I had over an inch at the end of my toes.
Between the quality and size, I returned them. If I had paid $40 for them, I might have kept them and dealt with all the issues, but for $228 (on sale)? No.
