I have2 pairs of these. One I ordered a half size larger so I can wear heavy socks. These are both now over 5 years old and have survived several winters with flying colors. These are also my go to hunting boots and I have taken them on some tough hunts out west. No wet feet. Warm. No issues. Absolutely great traction! Not sure why all the bad press. Doug

The conquest is not a big clunky snow boot and yet a very warm boot.

My first pair of Sorel boots was 15 years ago with a pair I bought in a store. The laces broke the plastic eyelets and destroyed the boot (never needed new laces, EVER!). With no Sorel retailer in my town, I had to order my next pair over the internet. They were too tight, and I later suffered a car accident and a broken foot so no boot has ever fit correctly or I couldn't get my foot in them. Having to order on-line again, without trying them on, I didn't know what to expect. I read the reviews about shoddy workmanship and material, but ordered them anyway. Well, they arrived. I was able to put them on, even with my broken foot, a size 10.5, my size (I didn't have to size up). I wore them around the house for a couple days to see if my foot would feel okay in them (my foot is deformed). They feel great!! I then took them out on one of the coldest days of the year in Omaha, a high of 1 with a -19 wind chill, and a slushy snow, with thin cotton socks on and my feet were HOT! I was able to walk about 2 miles and my broken foot did not hurt!! Only time will tell if they will hold up under strenuous or harsher conditions, but so far, in the 3 days I've worn them, they are the most comfortable, and warm, winter hiking boot I've ever owned!!

I acquired these boots & needed serious proof that they would be worth wearing as i asked for a different pair for christmas. I couldn't be happier I got the Conquest, I live at 9000ft in the Rockies, very rough on all outer wear. These boots have been nothing but solid, reliable, comfortable and all around great. I don't know if the other reviews got a batch that was sealed improperly or what have you, but I love mine, i suggest them to anyone who does a lot of trekking, makes my feet feel safe, cheers.

I've owned a pair of Conquest boots for 5-6 yrs. They're used working on a mtn property in central Vermont, snowshoeing, and deer hunting from stands in near zero temps. They have never failed me. The slightly large size allows an extra thick pair of socks if needed, but has never caused chafing or boot movement even on steep sideways traverses. No hardware failures despite hard treatment, gaiter keeps out knee-deep snow & back tab holds snowshoes straps tightly. Never had a hint of water in the boots, but I oil them as needed. I wouldn't go dancing in them.

This boot is ridiculously warm! I play in the snow alot and decided to battle test these bad mothers to the max. Snowmobile camping, igloo constructing, and snowshoeing. These boots have the durability and warmth to get a 5 star on all of my tests. Great product!

I have owned a pair of these for 14 years and they are an outstanding pair of boots. Over some pretty harsh Michigan winters, these boots have exceeded my expectations for a winter boot. Every time I think I want a new pair of boots, I just take a look at these ones and realize that they are everything I want is a winter boot. Warm, water resistant, good traction in snow. They are great. If they ever wear out, I will get another pair

I've had these boots for 5 years. Much of my work is outside and have worn them virtually everyday throughout the winter for all these years, they are the best winter boots I've owned. I live in a cold place so I need a warm boot. They have the best traction of any boot I've found on the market. My feet stay warm on the coldest of days/nights. Now after 5 years the rubber bottom is tearing from the leather upper where they are sewn together....they are still dry and warm. I am buying another pair.

Quality is there...after all...they are Sorel's. They run smaller than the rest of the lines sizing...everyone always says they leave room for thick socks in their sizing, but these don't have that extra room like the other models I tried in an 11.5 Additionally, I order them in Black and got a pair in some kind of Grey...?

I bought a pair of Badgers in the early 80's. They have been to Canada and Europe and countless trips to Lake Tahoe. I still have them and they are in great shape. I didn't need another pair of boots but the design of the Conquest with the gator and the fishing I'm doing convinced me to buy them. Only wish is that I ordered a smaller size. Great boot, for those of you who are going to order I recommend that you order a 1/2 size smaller than your normal size.

I was looking for the warmest boots that would be worn in harsh environments - not because I was going to the coldest corners of the arctic, but because I wanted a great boot that could easily hold up on a cold, wet, muddy, snowy horse farm in the Mid-Atlantic. The treadwear is great, very deep and secure in deep mud or snow. The boots are stiff but provide great ankle support. The boot is too bulky for riding but perfect for all day work on the ground. I will likely never use these boots in the climate they were designed for, but it is good to know they are more than capable of handling it.

I bought these boots when I was living in Boston and started working construction as a surveyor. I wore these boots during four years of trekking around from job site to job site in the harsh New England winters, climbing on rebar and concrete. I wore them every day as my regular boots as well, hiking, hunting or just walking around town. From Boston, to New York and back to Ohio, for 16 years these boots took whatever I threw at them. Two years ago after a long day of pheasant hunting the sole finally failed and split. I never got cold feet standing for hours on freezing concrete or wet in the mud or water. For as much crouching and crawling around as I did as a surveyor I'm pleased that I did not split the sole sooner. I've never had a pair of boots last this long under this kind of use. Hated to see them go. You will definitely get your money's worth from these boots.

No not a review about me.... I have more boots and shoes than I know what to do with. These are my winter trekking boots. I love to use them with snowshoes. One challenge, I have high arches, the gusset at the top is tight. I would have a hard time putting them on if I had 2 pairs of socks on, especially if it were cold out. I ended up buying a size 11 but I am normally a size 10. With normal sport socks the 10s feel quite amazing. I don't think I have ever had a winter boot on that felt so much like a hiker. Other challenge, I'm in Canada, I get mine from the US. Mine seem to have held up well, frankly, I don't see how others have been able to do the damage they have. I wear mine with crampons or snowshoes and then around camp all the time. I use them when I plow snow in the mornings too. I would recommend a half size or full size larger than your hiking shoes to accommodate the extra sock or VB layer you might be wearing.

bought mine in 2004, after the last 2 winters they have holes in the soles and are falling apart, but still warmer and more comfy than any other boots i've tried. i looked at the womens boots and was not impressed. i have also tried on several pairs of womens boots and most of them are thin and flimsy, and my feet would be freezing. i will have a pair till they stop making them.

I've been walking the desert southwest for 40 years. Boots have come and gone. Some last longer than others. Some are light: some are heavy. These are one of the best and most protective boots in the desert and mountains. Archaeologists like these boots. I'm an archaeologist. Connect the dots. Boot evolution. Happy feet. Wear them and smile.

Second pair... Still awesome. I bought my first ones about ten years ago. In the second season i put my atv thru the ice. I spent all day walking in muck up to my waist. The boots held together for another eight years. The heel in the left one finally gave and started to cut my foot. I was really excited to see that they now make the boot in all black. I was sold instantly. As a guy who spends ninety percent of his time on the ice in winter, Massachusetts long winters, I have been very pleased. My feet only get cold when it is about midnight and we have not fired the heater in the shanty yet, ha, ha. Honestly, for the money you spend on these boots, you will be thoroughly impressed at the quality and comfort. I have walked righ up to the gusset in water and have never had wet feet, Maybe sweaty socks, but not wet feet. Thank you so much again Sorel. I hope to get twenty years out of these. Please dont ever stop making this boot.

I love these boots, i have since bought three pairs, one in a blk,one in a cinniman bark and one in a khaki color. I like that fact that these boots look rugged, aggressive and sofar , they seem to stand up to their name. They also look great especially with jeans ,they are just a great looking boot and they definitely keep you warm . I live in NYC and although we do get snow from time to time, still in all, it hasen't let me down and seems to be well made . I haven't really dogged it in a sense by wearing everyday during the winter, only when its bad outside and we get heavy snow. So i guess that being said, i'm sure that they will last a whole lot longer , especially if you take good care of them. Also, these boots tend to run about a 1/2 size small from your true size. I suggest that you get either get a 1/2 to 1 full size larger than your true size depending on your foot size / width when ordering. I wear an 8 in US size so i bought a 8.5 . Last, i use to wear timberlands, but ever since these came out and i happen to come across these boots, i tend to like them more than the timberlands and am a happy camper..
