I'm really disappointed--thought this bag was going to solve a problem. I have had the Sherpani Camden for over a year, and I love it. But a few months ago I was starting to have some pretty serious issues with my right shoulder at the joint where the collar bone joins with … I don't know what, but where that bump is between your neck and shoulder. It was kind of swollen and painful, and the pain began radiating down my arm and up my neck. One day--I don't know why it took so long--I realized that the Camden's shoulder strap sits right there and was likely the cause of the problem. So I lengthened the strap and started wearing it as a crossbody. Better. The one day I dumped out the Camden and was appalled at the amount stuff that had accumulated in there. Things I'd been looking for for months. Things I'd forgotten I ever had. So I whittled the contents down to the essentials (which for me is more than for some) and decided to look for a smaller crossbody to prevent myself from loading up again. (A reason for a new bag!) I used to carry only high-end leather bags, but as I've aged, my tastes have reverted to my earlier, crunchier aesthetic. So I checked out Sherpani's other options and found the Vale. Perfect, I thought. Similar looking--doesn't have the backpack option like the Camden, but I tend to use that only when travelling anyway. Didn't care much for the available colors, but ordered the black and figured I'd get one in another color later. The Vale arrived, and I transferred everything from the considerably lightened Camden into the Vale. The Vale itself is lighter than the Camden, but the crossbody strap is 1" wide as opposed to the Camden's 1.5". The result is that the lighter-weight Camden containing the exact same stuff as the Camden--actually feels considerably heavier. I'm so bummed! It's going back.

The Vale is a well thought out design. There is enough room for my regular purse items and room for more if need be. The cross body fit is perfect. I love the anti-theft features and feel complete at ease walking anywhere caring this bag. The color is gorgeous. I couldn't be happier with this product. I highly recommend this bag.

A traveler must have it. This bag is very functional and stylish when traveling internationally. It protects you from pickpockets (manual and digital). You can wear it on the shoulder or crossbody, which means you can use it in multiple situations.

This review is an upgrade from the 3 star review I wrote 6 months ago upon receipt of my Vale, but prior to using it on a 3. 5 week international road trip. The size and shape of the bag was ideal. I expanded it to include a hat, gloves and waterbottle as needed; kept it folded for short outings. The anti-theft components made for comfortable traveling in all circumstances. It wore well- looks brand new after put to the test of traveling (cars, trains, planes, bars, restaurants, activities, hikes, etc. ). No wear and tear. All of my original concerns were disprooven. 1) Quality: I understand that the bag is made from recycled products- hence the 'quality' at first glance seemed sub-par. This was not the case at all. 2) Size and number of pockets: Perecft number of pockets for all of my needs in proper sizes that enhanced organization. 3) Color: Yes, the color (Merlot) is muted and more gray than the website shows, but it was perfect- combined nicely with my outfits and did not stand out. I highly recommend this bag for travel.

Love all the pockets! Holds all my travel needs. Would like a clip to hold the fold over in place when using the bag that way, bet see there is another bag that has that - but with a lot less color choices.

Purchased a bag this big because I wanted to carry my Swell 9 oz water bottle. I love the pockets, the fold-over top when Im not carrying too much, and all the security features. I purchased it for traveling but have found I like to use it all the time!

I got this bag for travel. Its great because it is roomy and can be stuffed if I decide to take off a layer, it can go in the bag if I decide to buy a small item, it can go in the bag if I need to get a power bar and stash it until later, yup, into the bag it goes. My travel luggage is a backpack so I needed my second bag to fit me somewhere other than my back. This gets the job done.

This design is so perfect for travel. Fold it down as a small bag for going out to dinner. Use the full size for packing a water bottle, a light puffy or a rainjacket, and comfortably spend the day visiting museums. In France, museums don't allow backpacks. This bag lets you carry your stuff without using the coat check. Somehow, the bag seems bigger on the inside-- I've never exceeded its capacity, even when accumulating souvenirs, and my spouse's water bottle, and my kid's jacket... I have an old version of the bag, lacking many of the new safety features. It's even better now!

This is my absolute favorite travel bag. I have my wallet w/passport, cell phone and duo sunglasses/reading glasses attached to the inside corner clip. I never loose anything. There are convenient pockets inside and out with the outside ones being theft proof. I can start the day with the top folded over so smaller and as the day gets hotter I can roll up my coat and stash inside. There's also room for water and those extra purchases. I did buy a padded shoulder attachment for the strap as it did cut into my shoulder as it got heavier throughout the day. Worked like a charm! Highly recommend this travel bag.

Absolutely love this bag. Thank you Sherpani for making great products! Get this bag--you won't regret it. I used it traveling and it was great as a personal item while flying. Then when I was able to unpack at my hotel, I could use the bag in its folded configuration, so it was much smaller. Since I got the black version, it was easy for the bag to be dressed up a bit as well. I'm so happy with it!

I'm a bit fanatical when it comes to bags. I was leaving for a several week trip around the EU and wanted a water resistant bag that could hold my large camera and essentials but look ok to wear to a wedding, and still convert to a smaller handbag for nights out. This was great; lightweight, packable, nice looking, held everything. I swapped it from a tote to a foldover handbag multiple times a day. ?

I purchased this bag 4 years ago (maybe more?) and use it exclusively whenever and wherever I travel in the world. The security features are great. Knowing RFID protects everything (from my passport to credit cards to cell phone info and building security access/key fobs etc) it is hands down THE most worthwhile travel bag I have ever owned. I put travel in quotes since end up using it daily at home too. Being able to zip and lock the zippers is great for long flights where I can sleep knowing nothing will spill out or accidently get knocked out of the bag. I have never a good enough reason to take any other bag during travels. Compliments, yes - lots of them. The ability to use the cross body strap when the bag is completely fill, or use the shoulder strap with just black showing dresses it up easily. I wash the bag (then lay flat to dry) to get mystery spills of lotion or chapstick (or whatever snacks may have been added) and it looks brand new again both outside and the inside lining. Just great, thank you for making this bag, please keep it available forever!!!

Ive had this bag for years and I really love it. I sometimes use my more designer style bags for day to day but if Im traveling or going somewhere where I need a light bag that closes up all over I switch to this. Its an excellent bag!!!

I originally bought the Vale bag because a friend had it and I admired it. We are going to Europe in a few months and I wanted a bag that would hold a decent amount, and be comfortable to carry. I also ordered 2 Baggu bags to compare. The Sherpani won with its style and its features!

Obsessed with this bag! I love that it folds over if I want a small bag and can move the straps to make a much bigger bag when needed. Its PERFECT!!!

This tote has more than enough room for my essentials, and even has room to carry a novel inside for spare reading! I appreciate the number of pockets; the internal ones help keep my keys within easy reach. Cute color too!
