these shoes seem super comfortable--heel height is perfect--my issue is that they are rather wide at the ankle compared to other booties I own. So for that reason I am sending them back

This shoe is cute and looks great with jeans or work clothes. However, you will need a thin sock as it feels a bit tight. You can wear them normal size but you cannot wear with a thick or even regular sock.
