This style was the first Aetrex I've tried, outside of a sandal. Thought it would be close to incredible, based on the Aetrex insoles & reputation for total foot comfort. BUT, as much as the Dana has going on, it really falls short. The leather is great, the style is versatile, but the front half of this shoe has no real cushion. It's very flat/thin at the ball of the foot, right up to the toes. Why the heck do so many "smart" shoe companies forget that we need cush & support in this part of our feet, too?!! You can feel the hard floor thru the bottom of the outsole in this front half.. Wouldn't work for me after 5 minutes.

Got email notification they were back in stock. Jumped on it and ordered ASAP since my other Aetrex shoes are great for 12-14 hours on my feet. Came today. Guess they were a return. Supposed to come with black and gray laces. Only one gray lace in box. Not a deal breaker, but come on returns department. Shouldn’t that have been part of the quality assurance process when receiving the return?

I have many foot issues and it's difficult for me to find shoes that are remotely comfortable. I bought a pair of sandals from Aetrex that are comfortable, so was curious to see how their closed toe shoes would fit. These were comfy right out of the box and are very nice quality leather and have a cute style (especially for a Comfort shoe!). The insoles are very cushy and the toe shape conforms to the foot, so they don't look clunky or dowdy. Very happy with these shoes!!

I worked 55hrs a week as a Food Service Manager. I was looking for a comfy, casual social, and non-slippery shoes. I tried many dislikes all. After using this style for the past 5 days I do not have any feet or leg pain. I can say I love these shoes. I will probably get the other colors as well.

Cute shoe but poor design due to interior stitching in the toe area; very uncomfortable and should have listened to other reviews that mentioned this.

Love these! I have plantar fasciitis and Aetrex sandals were my go to in the warmer months so I needed something for fall and these are perfect! I purchased them in grey and love them!

This is a super cute shoe with great support! Unfortunately, the stitching on the inside made them very uncomfortable, and they are going back. Really wanted them to work, but it wasn't to be.

This shoe worked well for me, but here's what you should know about it: True to length and width with a sock, possibly a half-size large if without. It also may feel wide even with a sock if you have a narrow foot. When you look inside the shoe, it looks like it has arch support, but it is placed close enough to the heel that it doesn't seem like it can be that - I compared it to several pairs of my other shoes and the placement isn't close. The function it does seem to serve is to help wearers avoid overpronation. Since I'm a supinator, that gave me pause, but after wearing it around the house, I'm not turning my ankle, so it works. The heel, as others have mentioned is very padded, which I like, but I can see how it might feel odd to some.

I really like how they look; I bought two pair. I have to buy lace up shoes due to a bunion on one foot. Often I then remove the insole and insert an orthotic. If you don't remove the insole, you may not like their strange - too far back - arch placement. Also inside both pairs are rough spots where care was not taken during manufacturing. I have solved this by sticking in a callous cushion to circle the rough edge and protect my feet. In a shoe of this price it is disappointing that these issues are present, but with my foot problem I am kind of desperate for a good looking shoe that doesn't hurt. Also I replaced the shoe laces on both shoes - easy enough to do.

I wear a 6.5 and the shoes size says 6-6.5 and they ended up being just a little too short and I know if I order the next size up they will be too big. They are cute, however to walk in them my toe ended up hitting the end of the shoe making them uncomfortable and had to send them back.

I loved the look of the shoes and the fit was okay. Inside the shoe where the tongue meets the shoelace section there was a huge lump. It was worse on the left shoe so that it would rub against the top of my foot. Sorry to have to return them because I did like them.

I just received these last week and they felt comfortable and a good fit for my size 8 narrow feet.
The added cushioning in the footbed, will give me the comfort that my arthritic feet need!

Run big, these fit okay, but I'm normally a 38. (They feel a bit wide and I still have room in the toes box.) Trying to decide if it is a good fit or if they need to go back...

I have a bunion on one foot so I ordered both an 8.5 wide and a 9 regular since I'm usually somewhere between the two in length. The 8.5 wide is NOT wide. Although the box indicates it is a wide, there was no actual marking in the shoe indicating it is a wide. Also, the 8.5 wide is narrower than the 9 regular. I'm not convinced they really make a wide version. Keeping the 9 and hoping it doesn't hurt after walking on them for any length of time outside of the house.

This is a nice shoe fi you don't need metatarsal arch support. Since Aetrex specializes in arch support, I was hoping they would be more supportive than they are

This is a nice casual shoe, neutral color, like the look as it's not flashy. Fits my feet okay for half day or short outings, but I do not think I'd wear for a long touring day as the toe box itself is not roomy; it is a bit shallow from other Aetrex shoes.

I wear a size 10 M and the shoes fit well. They're really cute and very cushiony. The only problem is a very thick overlap of leather inside the shoe that's directly over the large bone beneath the big toe (MTP joint) and it presses painfully. Thankfully I read another review that said she had the same problem and fixed it by placing a corn cushion over the area. I ordered some lambswool but it hasn't come yet so I tore a cotton ball in two and placed it in my socks over that area and that seems to work as well. It took the pressure off the toe joint and they are comfortable now, but I'm not happy to pay so much for shoes that have such a ridiculous design problem that could have easily been remedied with a little more thought by the shoe designers.

Now tried a 41. Still too wide, loose in the heel for me, I have a narrow heel. But nice room in the toes! If you like a very flexible outsole you will like this shoe. It’s too “bendy” for me. My podiatrist recommends less flex to protect forefoot. I’m a big walker and I think I would feel bumps in the ground with these...Using it with an orthotic, I still have lots of room with a 41. Runs pretty long, maybe ½ size? I usually wear a 10.5 or 41 in Naot. The mocha color is fairly dark, was looking for lighter shoe. Fun style!

This shoe looks great and was the exact style I wanted. But it is PAINFUL because the tongue is so thick and stitched at the wrong place it rubs the top of the foot. I read other reviews mentioning this but I thought I would get lucky. Nope. I love this shoe but have to give them up because of weird overlay of the tongue -- such a terrible problem.

My need to return it stems from my need for a wider toe box and softer insoles for my foot condition. They looked wonderful and I had hope of them finally filling the bill for me.

I wanted to love this shoe, but like other reviewers before me, my outer little toe rubbed against the shoe at the seam. I’m sure it’s my feet (probably slight hammer toe on that side). Well made and very supportive. It just didn’t work for me.

This review is for the Aetrex Dana in gray. The look / style of the shoe is fine. The problem is with the fit when walking. For anyone with forefoot / ball of the foot issues the sole you're needing is one that is stiff and sturdy. These are the opposite. Terribly bendy creating an unstable footbed to stabilize your feet and, when walking, your stride. Even substituting the insole with customized orthotics did not improve the fit. Too bad, as others shoppers have commented the design / engineering used in successful Aetrex models like the Cheryl and ever popular Jillian do not appear to be duplicated in any other of their shoe designs. Too bad! Will try a lace up sneaker by Birkenstock in my continuing search for healthy, non-orthopedic looking footwear.
