People who bought the original Elsie’s know everything was leather, including the soles. This pair has man made sole and the description says so. This review isn’t meant to bash leather or non leather soles. This is to let you know these shoes are comfy, have a wider toe box, and the toe cleavage has a different cut than the original Elsie. It should really be given a new name since the shoe style is different. The suede is a bit stiffer than the old Elsie but so far so good. At the sale price, it’s worth it.

I bought these because they look so upmarket and beautiful--like the Manolo ones you see the royals wearing, and they deliver as far as the style and beauty. The heel height is high and elegant but also quite wearable. The suede upper looks nice. The price is great. These are the pros. The cons are that probably because the sole is NOT leather, you can feel wear the shoe ends and meets the sole--it is not a seamless comfort experience. I ordered up a half size, because with this heel height and point toe, I realized from my Cole Haan Vesta purchase (the most beautiful and comfortable pump I have ever worn) that I have to. The shoe feels okay, but not really comfortable for about an hour to an hour and a half. It does seem to run a bit narrow and rubs on one of my toes as my foot is slightly wide. But putting the rub aside, it becomes and extremely UNCOMFORTABLE shoe after an hour and half, when half that time you are on your feet, as I am when I wear it... So if you are going to wear this to work where you stand, walk, and/or get up alot, a cocktail party type gathering, a wedding, and even church--definitely keep this in mind. I think that I would die wearing these to an event of more than an hour and a half like a wedding. i miss the old J.Crew shoes that were the most amazingly made and comfortable shoes EVER--back when they all had leather soles. :-) It DOES make a HUGE difference.

Beautiful color and heel height is perfect for wearing all day. However, size was small. I almost always wear 8 1/2, but it smooshed my toes. Have ordered a 9 to see if that works.

The shoe looked wide right out of the box. I didn't even try both sides on. It was way, WAY too wide and the heel was very large as well.

Quality materials makes a huge difference in a heel and unfortunately this just doesn’t have it. The construction is just a tiny bit off in balance making it just a little more difficult to walk in, and thereby making your feet overcompensate and hurt just a little more than they already do bc the materials are poor. I so wanted to love these but unfortunately the unforgiving faux leather was too painful. In fairness, some women can walk in anything and if you’re her, then this shoe could be fine for you. I’m not too practiced in walking in uncomfortable heels so I’m considering chucking these altogether, but will try to give it a few more wears.
