Nice shoes. Basically: - Grafton displays less "clown-shoe" appearance than other Altra shoes. - It is slightly heavier than Altra's other shoes; the Vibram soles probably contributes to the weight. - They are not ventilated. I like them. They pair well with blue jeans and sport coat on casual Fridays. NOTE: They are a full size smaller that Altra's Torins. The white Torin in the photo is size 11.5; the Grafton is size 12.5. At even a full shoe-size larger, the Grafton is still about 3mm shorter. (I have 10+ pairs of Altra Running Shoes, Trail Shoes, and Casual Shoes. My feet love them.)

This is a modification of a previous review for the Grafton, necessary after wearing the shoes daily for a week. My previous 5-star review was based on the shoe's aesthetics, Vibram out-sole, and suede upper. Unfortunately, the Grafton does NOT possess the same degree of toe-box comfort as the Escalante or Lone Peak. It's narrower, less room for toe splay. Additionally, the back of the shoe is wider than other Altra models and does not securely envelope the heel nearly as well as the aforementioned models. Another good concept by Altra tainted by poor execution.

I tried Altra athletic shoes a couple of years ago, and I was very happy to find a brand of shoe that didn't squash my toes. They are the only brand of athletic shoes that I wear now. The Grafton shoes, while nice-looking, have a significantly narrower toe box than the other Altras, and fit much like other brands of athletic shoes. I have tried several times, but I can't tolerate wearing these. I hope this isn't a future trend for Altra.

I wanted these to work. I have had two pair of Escalantes, and these Graftons are a nice looking alternative for jeans. But as others have noted, Altra misses the mark on these. The heel is too wide, resulting in constant slipping. So back they go....

I'm the unfortunate owner of the world's most finicky feet. Along came Altra. Two pair of Escalantes and a pair of Lone Peak 4's have blessed those appendages with toe box comfort and running bliss, however the durability of out-sole and upper materials has proven inferior in those models. The Grafton may be Altra's redemption. The Vibram out-sole and suede uppers appears to rectify material insufficiencies suffered by other Altra products. Time will tell. For now, my new Graftons look awesome and feel magnificent. High-five, Altra! Keep improving your amazing foot-friendly product line.

The Grafton: A tight toe-box and loose heel, the polar opposite of why we purchase Altra products. It's so simple Altra, make a suede (or leather) Lone Peak with a Vibram sole. Done.

I would buy this shoe in a heartbeat if it was still offered. This looks exactly like what I have been searching for.

Absolutely the best shoe I've had on my feet in the last decade. Discontinuing them was a grave mistake. Listen to the reviews! Bring them back and prove you care about your customers more than $.

I am here because I want another pair.. The shoe itself is crazy durable and comfy. Shoe is in great condition after 4 years daily use but the vibram rubber sole pattern has gone. Take my money!!

This was the shoe for which I searched so long. Worked as an approach shoe or flat pedal bike shoe, two categories where wide toe boxes are non-existent. With proper marketing they would sell quite well.

Why these were canceled I will never understand. Best walking and flat pedal cycling shoes that Altra made. Super durable, and looked great with any outfit. Altra, bring these back into the line up. Look at these reviews, people love these shoes. It took me 4 years to wear these out, and I wore them year round through snow, dirt and mud.

I consistently get compliments on the shoes, and have recommended them numerous times. They hit a particular style and wear segment that none of the current shoes can.

I've own three pairs of the Grafton and they have solved my foot problems. I also own two other pairs of Altra shoes and, while okay, they don't compare to the Grafton. Mine are wearing out! Best shoe ever!

I've been wearing my Grafton shoes for years and they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. After reading other comments it appears that many people want you to BRING GRAFTON BACK.... Please.

I absolutely love these shoes. Have tried other brands in this style and no one has a zero drop or the comfort of these. I wore them every day to work. Now they are gone and I'm at a loss.

I started my Altra journey with women's Torin 4 and 4.5 (which I loved) and then found Grafton. They are so comfortable and much more stylish than some other Altra models. I have wide feet and bunions, and Grafton is perfect for me. The only thing I did after reading reviews was to order a half size up, and I'm glad I did.I wear 6.5 in Torin but got a 7 in Grafton, so there's plenty of room without the heel slipping. I wear them for light road walking (about 1 to 1-1/2 miles per day) and everyday errands. I get many compliments on them, but the important thing is they fit my terrible feet. Please bring Grafton back--and while you're at it, I would love the Torin to be redone with the cushioned tongue of the Torin 4. The 4.5 tongue digs into my ankle. And I've read the Torin 5 tongue is even worse. Please, listen to your customers!

These are my favorite go-to shoes for a year, they feel and look great. I want to buy new pairs, there is not even something equivalent from Altra. These have been very active on the used market, this tells me they have a strong following. Good traction in wet and snow.

I used this shoe for maintenance work for a year. The property I work on has all gravel roads that other shoes this comfortable do not last on. Yes there is the issue were the side canvas comes unstitched from the leather, that is easily repaired with a needle and thread.

I love this shoe. It worked great as an all around shoe from light trail use, in the office with nice jeans, and around town. I wore them almost daily as a comfortable light weight shoe for work that doesn't look like a running shoe. That said I walked an average of about 7 miles per day in them doing so. They lasted over a year. Not bad at all!!! I want more, another grey pair would be nice and I was going to buy a blue pair as well. I hope Ultra gets these back in stock soon. Btw... I am a size 13 and these are spot on for my wide forefoot and narrower heal.

Love these things! They're so comfortable that I wear them every day around the house, out walking/hiking & during my workouts. I have wide (EE) feet and they fit beautifully - lots of space for my toes. Thank you for making such a great shoe!

I needed this for hiking and yard work in the Tucson desert. Everything out here has spines. The leather upper protects against most of it. Probably too hot for summer use but feels just fine when the weather is in the 70s right now. It does run a bit smaller, so I sized up on the 2nd pair.

Very light weight and comfy shoe, perfect for my urban commute on cool New England mornings, walks in the woods, and SO MANY people have commented on how cute they are! LOVE THEM!
