I've never had a bad Vasque shoe. This one is an excellent hiking shoe, but there is one thing that you should be aware of. The tread on the soles of this shoe has sharp pointed treads at the front of the sole, and that was my undoing. You can't slide your feet in this shoe. I guess I tried, working in my shop on a concrete floor. It didn't slide and I wound up on the concrete. So if you buy this design, make sure you lift your feet, because trying to slide is not a good idea. I noticed that they stick up further than on most soles, and with the pointed shape, they grip the ground and don't want to let go. Use them to climb, but be careful on flat, smooth surfaces !!

Daily dog walking shoe. 30-50 miles per month. Plus running snow blower in winter. This spring the shoe separated from sole and much dew/water is entering footbed. Poor construction. Vasque quality has suffered over the past few years. I use to rely on them for my backpacking boots. No longer. I use Lowa for my serious backpacking trips now.

This is a replacement for a pair that I bought 3 months ago. The top eyelet loop broke. Zappos was great in replacing the pair due to this manufacturer fault. Other then that, I have really like these boots. They are not quite as comfortable as the Talus Trek's that they replaced since they required a little bit of break in, especially on the tongues (which were quite stiff).

Looks great and is well made, but for me the toe box area was shallow (not very high) and so was tight on the top of my foot just below the toes.
