I so wanted these shoes to work for me because of the color. The green color in the photos is awesome! Unfortunately, the pair I received wasn't the beautiful olive green like in the photo, but was more of a black color with a slight greenish cast to parts, but the leather was primarily the blacker color. I ordered several pairs thinking the blackish tone was a fluke, but it wasn't. All pairs I received had the same blackish color with only slight hints of green here and there. All pairs were also all terribly scratched up. Not in a "vintage" kind of way but truly beat up looking way. Not what I wanted. I'd also ordered a pair of the tobacco colored Arizona soft beds at the same time and found there is a noticeable difference between the "soft" foot bed of the tobacco pair and the "soft" foot bed of this green pair. The foot bed of the green pairs was so much harder than the tobacco colored pair I'd have thought the green ones were original Birks w/o the soft bed. The tobacco had a "squishiness" quality that these did not and the tobacco ones felt better on my foot. I also noticed the green pairs felt short as my toes were hitting the sloped edge of the front end of the foot bed which I didn't experience that with the same size pair of tobacco colored ones. Three strikes for green. I kept the tobacco colored pair (which is also a beautiful color).

The Birkenstock Arizona have a comfortable sole, but the bottom of the shoe is some sort of plastic which is very slippery and the leather straps are very stiff and cut into the skin. I am sure they would soften over time, but I don't feel I should have to wear bandages for several weeks until then. I returned these and kept another brand (NAOT Mikael) which are much more comfortable to wear and have a better base (non slippery).

I reeeeeeeeally wanted to keep these but this was already my second try with this color and style. I initially ordered my true size 7 (38) and they were way too big. Now I know to order a size down in Birks. These are a 37 and they fit great, but they’re too wide. They don’t feel too wide but I had to put all the straps on the tightest hole for them to fit right and I don’t like the way they look with the excess strap flopping off the sides (see right foot in photo). I wish these came in narrow!! The color is beautiful. For the record, I have ordered the default width in all other colors and styles I’ve tried (6 other pairs! Lol) and they’ve fit great (also size 37). I hope this helps someone!

The foot bed fit perfectly. However, the straps, especially the one closer to the ankle, way too long.
