I love Merrell boots. I've worn out five pair of Moabs. I was in dire need of snow boots so the Thermo Rheas seemed like a good find. My first day out in these boots after a huge snow storm I ended up limping. The left zipper on the inside rubbed my skin off even through thick socks. I chose the Thermo Aurora, but I have not received them yet. The Auroras do not have zippers. The zippers in the Rheas never worked. I tried the boots again and same sandpaper rub and that time the right foot also got rubbed raw. Very painful. Lesson learned, not all things Merrell are worth the price or the effort. Very disappointed. Their quality assurance should have easily caught this problem. Gladly I was not too far from my house when this problem occurred. Out in the forest, one could get into trouble. sigh

The boots have a really uncomfortable piece on the inside where the bottom of the zipper is attached to the boot. I have no doubt that it would have rubbed against my skin, even while wearing a thick boot sock. I liked the style and love my Merrell hiking boots, so I was surprised that this design. Lose the zipper, Merrell.
