I never bought any other brand but New Balance, so I can't compare if the size, width and arch is true or not. I love New Balance! My son has Autism and this type of fastener is ideal for him putting shoes independently. I hope New Balance keeps making these type of fasteners in their shoes for all age groups. I, also, like the bottoms of these shoes. They do not allow the shoe to misshape if you walk differently than everyone else.

New Balance is the go to shoe for all three of my grandsons. This is the second pair of this particular style for the 5 year old because he thinks they are the most comfortable. Love that they come in wide. Also, the Velcro single strap is easy to adjust.

These were for part of our grandson's Christmas gift. He loved them, but his toes were close to the end in a size 3, so we were going to order a 3.5 but it was not in stock & really not that much longer according to the size chart; so we ordered a size 4 & they fit great. In case anyone is having trouble choosing between Little & Big Kids, it might help to know our grandson just turned eight years old & it tall for his age, so we usually do size up a little for him in all his clothes. New Balance was chosen because he wants to be a runner like Daddy & the brand we've always bought for him didn't offer the same support. New Balance is a great choice for very active kids & this style is nice too (Navy & Red). We had a hard time finding what we wanted elsewhere, so Zappos was a great shopping experience. Even our return was free!

New Balance has been the only shoe my son can wear. He has wide feet and a very small arch. New Balance fits him the best and provides the best comfort and these are stylish. Love the colors.

I bought and wore two pairs of the New Balance style 680 last year, one navy and one black in 1.5 XW. My leather NB are a 2XW.These fit me perfectly in the 1.5 XW. I love that the strap goes through an opening and then you can pull it to fit and stick down the velcro. Another pair I bought last year had a different strap that did not double over and was too short; useless. The stretch laces are fine for me. If you find they are not tight enough, cut them and shorten the shoelace a little and simply sew it back together. You could also just put standard laces in the shoe. Or you can mail them to me ! It fits great, is light in weight, the colors are very attractive. They will be perfect with jeans. I used to wear my leather NB white double velcro strap shoes all the time, for about 10 years. This was my MY shoe.. This 608 model is great and I ordered them in 5 minutes when I saw the ad in my email. I am so glad, but my size is gone in 5 days. Last year I could never find another navy . I bought the black last year, too, 680, and easily got a second pair quickly since NB does sell out of specific number styles in the colors you need and are impossible to find , even with several retailers. I used to wear my white NB shoes year around and a friend said the navy and black NB sneakers looked much nicer with jeans and dark pants. Buying thiese shoes last week in 5 minutes and getting them the next day was the happiest thing I did last week. Don't delay, because these shoes do sell out. Zappos has a wonderful return policy, so order two pairs if you question the size and keep the pair that fits. Wide shoes are a trademark of NB and have bought them the Internet for the last 10 years. This is my style and fit. Maybe it will be yours. If it is not, keep ordering and returning shoes because every style number is a little different. Find your number and shoe. This is mine. I am thrilled that I found it and it looks so wonderful and fits so well. They do fit fine, I said they ran a little short because my leather NB sneakers are a 2XW. I LOVE these shoes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tongue keeps getting mushed into the shoe when my son puts them on. not comfortable not as well made as most New Balance.

We ordered these for our son who has extra wide feet. He is willing to leave them on! They are comfortable for his feet. New balance is one of the very few shoes still wide enough to fit our sons special feet. He has down syndrome which gives us some special challenges to find “regular” shoes that he can wear.

My son likes them and says they are very comfortable. They look very durable. They seem to run a half size small, which is normal in my experience with new balance. Overall a great shoe.

I bought these sneakers for my 10 year old son. I've been buying him only New Balance of late because they give him a bit of a wider sneaker that fits well and wears very well. Great product!

Bought these for my son and he loves them. He loves the Velcro strap and how he can run fast. (That’s how he tests his shoes.) New Balance never disappoints on fit and look.

My grandson LOVED these shoes and immediately said that they were comfortable. He loved the red and blue colors and also that they said "Running", so he ran around his house to try them out and then skipped down the ramp to his pre-K class. Thanks to New Balance for selling the XW in shoes for kids. NO OTHER brand comes close to providing the width needed for many children!

Bought these for my 8 year-old grand son. He is very hard on shoes. It is difficult to find shoes he likes and will wear. He likes this shoe and is wearing them for school. So far a hit!

This is the 3rd pair of NB 680v5 shoes I have ordered for my son. Every time he outgrows a pair, I buy him a new pair. He likes how they fit and loves the fun colors. His 6 and can be pretty hard on his shoes, but these seem to last as long as they fit!

Bought these for my 4 year old son size 10.5 medium. They look great vibrant color he seems to love them no complaints on comfort.

I love these shoes! They are stylish, simple, and the xw width is perfect for my son that wears AFOs (foot braces). It's hard to find shoes for his AFOs that slip on and off easily, and the velcro strap stays on across the shoe.

Great shoes, my 6yr old son loves them. They fit true to size and are very comfy. It's hard finding hook and loop sneakers in his size, so I was very happy when we got these and they fit perfectly.

These are perfect for my busy 8 year old. Comfortable and very easy to take on and off.

New Balance sneakers have been our go to sneakers for our grandson who needs a wide width. They are comfortable and wear well!

Read on a review that this shoe ran a full size too small; however, I did not find this to be true. They fit just fine.
