Noticed few errors on "Columbia Anytime Outdoor Long Short" & wanted to help others make better informed decisions. Tie on front is not faux, goes around full width of waist, serving to tighten fit. Also the rise - have brand new pair here in front of me, labeled, etc. I always get 1 size up in Columbia so usually 10 always get 12 in Columbia. Front rise on a size 12 is 9" & w/back rise at 15" - was curious when reading Zappo stats & ordering more - thought I'd measure. A rise as short as indicated would be quite revealing & maybe only appropriate for a younger gal. At 64 I have been wearing these for years, opting now for a tunic length top for more age appropriate look. 150lbs. 5'7.5". The "Anytime Outdoor Capri" is same rise as Long Short , not as stated on site. No falling down when involved in active pursuit. I keep my non-work ones out of dryer, as after several times in dryer they will pill & shrink a tad too. So air dry these puppies.

I love these shorts! I am at the age where I'm starting to notice crepey skin, so I can't wear my shorts as short as I used to. These longer ones are perfect! I am 5'6", 119 lbs and I ordered size 6. They fit perfectly, but have some give to them, so that if I were to gain weight, they would still fit. They come just above my knee, so it covers my crepey skin on my thighs. The picture makes it look like the bottoms are rolled up to form a cuff, but they are straight, which I like better. I might order in another color.

These are TERRIBLY disappointing because I LOVE them so much. Fit. Fabric weight. All so great. And these brand new shorts are pilling like mad. It's SO bad. Pardon me while I head over to Columbia to complain about the same, because I'm out dollars that I could have spent on something else.

I love these shorts! I rarely wear shorts because I have heavy/athletic legs for my size. I am fit and active and normally wear size 6 in regular Columbia hiking pants. I have many pairs. I decided I needed some shorter hiking pants because of a particularly hot summer. I found these on sale and ordered them in both 6 and 8. They claim to be athletic fit. (Or something like that...). Anyhow. The size 6 in this style was too tight. Everywhere. But the size 8 fits like a dream and looks great. I am 5’6” and have longish legs (32” inseam), and these hit right at the middle of my knees. Not too tight, not too loose, and the waist string tie cinches them to my exact fit. Perfect! I returned the 6’s and bought two more size 8’s. Wish there were more colors available through Zappos.

I liked the stretchy feel of these, I could hike, climb around with no tightness in the shorts. I wish the pockets were more functional-my phone slipped out of the front pocket. (I found it) Adding a different type of pocket would make this a perfect pair of shorts.

nice slim fit that doesn't stretch out and get baggy in the butt after wearing. Its true to size and very slimming in the thighs for me. Very comfortable and light weight. I came back to zappos today to see if this short came in other colors. BTW Normal waist and the length came right at the top of my knee cap.

Good quality and somewhat dressy. Wish the waist had some stretch for a better fit. Snap closure is very strong. As usual with Columbia I needed a size larger than normal. Greatful for pockets on women's shorts.

These shorts are terrific. I just wish they came in several other colors. I ordered a size 2 in the black, I liked them so much I ordered another pair. The second pair in size 2 ran small and was made in Viet Nam. (The first pair was made in Indonesia.) Unfortunately, I had to return the second pair. I live in Florida and these are great & "age appropriate" for playing golf, walking and running errands. I wish they came in white - maybe in the spring/summer.

These are my favorite shorts - for so many reasons: hiking,biking,boating,gardening,sun protection, lightweight, water resistant, traveling,so comfortable. I just ordered a new pair, because my very broken in first pair was "injured" on a bicycle accident I had. The fabric of the rear pocket got snagged on my bike gear when I went down, and it had a small 1 inch tear, only on the outer fabric. So these are still dynamite shorts for wearing at home,working outside or just sitting around. Looking forward to putting many miles on the new pair I just received. Have had friends order these same shorts when they saw mine! Keep making them Columbia!! Thank you!

I have taken these long shorts on two trips and they are fantastic. They're light and comfortable and they drip dry overnight. No need for ironing! I also wear them when I'm doing errands and want something a bit more dignified than regular shorts. I've included a picture of me in Belem, Brazil where I traveled for work. In a spot of sightseeing, I met a group of school girls who wanted a picture with the American 'tourist.'

Great fit, this is my 2 nd pair of these just a different color.

These are my go to capris. I've worn them for years. The material is better than before, however , the sizing has changed I feel, I think they run smaller. So I sized up.

Can be worn for work or hikes! Nice enough to where anywhere.

Shorts are for ANY occasion. Can be used to hike scenic trails as well as dressing them up for a fancy outing. Lightweight and the added advantage of "wash and wear".

I love these shorts! I am 5'2", 155 lbs, and the size 12 was the right fit. I like to roll the bottom up once or twice so they are above the knee. I was amazed to see water just roll right off these shorts. They are great for traveling, well-made, and the material does not pill. I liked them so much I purchased them in a second color. I just wish they made them in more colors!

Love these shorts because I have larger hips and a smaller waist. Shorts have a draw string which helps to perfect the fit around my waist. Fabric is stretchy, breathes well and I also love the longer length (which you can roll up if you want them a little shorter).I own them in three different colors. I do wish you offered them in more colors. They have avery close to the body fit- so if you are looking for a more relaxed fit, I would size up. I am 5ft 6 in, weigh 170 and bought a size 16. They are a perfect fit for me.

I love these shorts! They are breathable and protect you from the sun. Thin, strong fabric that are so comfortable. Your wont regret it.

I did end up sizing up 1 and am pleased with the fit. I am larger in hips and butt. It is nice having the tie waist. I am 5'6" #153. I usually wear an 8-10. I bought 12 for these.

Love these, would have been great to have a secure pocket though as the hand pockets are short and when you sit stiff falls out of them.

I'm in between Sizes 4 & 6. So I was more comfortable with the Size 6. I like the light material and perfect for travel.

Love these shorts. I did size up according to past reviews. I'm a size 6/8 ordered a size 10. They fit fine and shrank a bit when washed.

I love these shorts! So I got another pair & wished I could've had more colors. Im 65 years old & appreciate the fact they come to my knees. I like the fabric as well.

The size is correctly listed. Fits well I like the light weight fabric.

I am so glad to have found these shorts. Just the right length and the fit was true to size. My only negative is that the drawstring material is much thinner than in some of your other products. I hope this wasn't a cost saving measure.
