I am so glad I bought these! They feature horizontal stretch for give during movement, but no vertical stretch, so they don't sag over the day (though they will stretch out a small amount) or if you put heavy things in the pockets. The front pockets are rather shallow, but a small set of keys and my phone still generally manage to stay put. I do wish there were a second back pocket on the left, instead of just the one on the right. And the tiny Velcro closure on the right back pocket does not really do much. The drawstring at the waist is also slightly elastic, so it won't gouge into your pelvis when you bend over to tie your shoes. These pants are very long, though, like most Columbia gear seems to be. Fortunately, the cuff is simple, unlike with snow pants, and these can be hemmed pretty easily. I am 5'4", typically wear a 31 or 32 inseam, and I folded the cuff up inside twice and sewed it in place. The fabric is lightweight so the cuff is not too bulky or heavy after hemming without trimming. I was also able to use regular, non-elastic thread, as the cuff of my pants do not usually need to stretch much and would not need to match the elasticity of the fabric. I have worn these pants to the office, to mow the lawn, to the beach, to bed, to muddy construction sites, to tromp through Pacific Northwest bushes, when sight-seeing in New Orleans, over silk-weight longjohns (they tend to get hung up a bit), over cotton leggings (they tend to get hung up more), and over fleece-lined lounge pants (short ones so they don't hang out the bottom). The fabric slid around a bit on the plastic seat of a tour bus, and they pick up a bit of pet hair, but I have had much much worse pants for the latter. I also folded them up to capri length while in some warmer climates and they stayed rolled up and not too bulky, providing excellent versatility. I have yet to see how they wear long-term, but they seem to be performing fairly well, including after machine washing and drying. I am a little concerned about pilling in higher friction areas when worn in very humid climates. They resist water and stains as advertised, and wrinkles fall out of the fabric in no time, making them perfect for travel. The only things I would change about these pants is to add a second back pocket and a larger variety of colors. Khaki, olive, chocolate, maybe even prints or pinstripe.

I purchased these pants in both black and grey. The grey is much lighter than I anticipated in color. I would have preferred them to be a medium to dark grey. Very light weight and stretchy. Besides, the color they fit great! I would say they are true to size. I wear a size 18 pants and they fit great on my thighs and even allow breathing room. They are not suction cupped to my legs which I greatly appreciate. They do however, stretch looser as they day progresses. Unlike the picture shows (tiny waist where they sit around the belly button), I had to wear mine below my stomach. As they day progressed, I was able to put them up by my belly button.

I love these pants! Perfect for a woman on the go... in everyday life or for travel. The size runs a little big, but I prefer to wear pants at hip level rather than my natural waist. The boot cut shape is very flattering and the pants are soooo comfortable. The material is on the light side, so the pants might not be warm enough for winter months depending where you live. I just bought two more pairs for my trip to Europe. Thanks!

These pants are very cool when the heat is on outside. No problems in humid weather. Very comfortable in the waist. Has a nice silhouette. I have even been able to wear them to the office! No one could tell they were active wear. I hardly notice I am wearing them.

I purchased these pants in preparation for a move to France. Initially I planned on using them for walking around in the warm Summer months, but they have proven to be an excellent purchase in many situations. I work in a kitchen and they are WONDERFUL and incredibly comfortable in a hot, moist environment. They're easy to clean, they repel water and stains, they dry in a snap, and are also light weight and travel friendly. It's nice to have a pair of athletic pants that don't look like your typical gym pant. I love them so much that I'm ordering another pair today!

As a matter of fact, I loved them so much, I bought a 2nd pair about three days after I received the first one. It would be great if the pants came in a few other colors too (like brown or darker gray). They are really lightweight & have stretch. I've worn them on a several mile trail walk in 80+ degree weather and they kept me cool & dry. They don't seem to wrinkle much so they'd be great for traveling too!

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
They fit great at first but quickly stretched out so need to go a size down. The tie for the pants seem really thin and didnt seem to keep tight. Pants are perfect length and have a slight flair at bottom for boots

Love the pants. Size was just and fit were just right. Wish the boot cut was not so wide. Way wider than what they look like on the model.

The best pants for walking. I must have 6 of these some many years old. They are the best.

I'm going to use for work and even with small heels the pant is too long and will need to be hemmed. Would love it if they offered this in a short inseam. Because I need to hem it I'll be taking one star off for the need to hem it.

Like a lot of my Columbia hooded jackets, the drawstring you use to fasten these pants is pretty flimsy and I don't foresee it lasting very long. And unfortunately these pants don't have belt loops so a belt wouldn't work to keep pants up

I have bought these pants in the past, and I love them. The pants I ordered recently were a size too big. You need to go down a size. I hope the smaller pants are not too little.

Well-made technical pant for the money. I'm usually an 18, but based on other reviews, I went up a size. I think an 18 would have been fine. The pants are comfortable and nice looking- I bought them for casual work pants in an engineering office and they are totally acceptable. Easy care, just don't dry them too hot or too long-they get a lot of static electricity buildup. If you hang them immediately, they are nearly wrinkle-free. Bought two pair and glad I did.

These fit great and were vert nice and light weight. They offered great wearability during hiking during the day, and I was able to sleep in the tent at night with no complaints. I figured they may bunch up in my sleeping bag but they were awesome. I liked my pair so much I immediately purchased 3 more pairs.

I have had 4 pairs of the long shorts that are the same as these pants and they have been great. The shorts I found run true to size, but I find that these pants run a bit smaller than the shorts so be aware. That being said, I love these pants and the shorts. I can be on the trail or I can be in the water and not fear. They are great for traveling because they are wrinkle free after you shack them out a bit and they are also light weight. One last negative is that after about six months of wear they start to pill and not look so nice.

This product has amazing features! I love how the water just beads right up off of them. Also I can wear them to just about anything. From a hike in the woods, to a night out with friends. Just make sure you wash them according to the instructions

Did great for rainy weather in Scotland/Ireland! Easy to wear leggings underneath for added warmth. These were larger than expected, but easy to tie up with the drawstring. Just wish it had more zippered pockets so I could store stuff on a hike, like my phone.

Nice comfy pants. Perfect for travel. Wish they sold these pants in petite as I had to have them hemmed as I am 5'4".

I saw these pants at Belk department store and they only had a size 24. The size 24 (3x for similar style minus the zipper and snap button) was too loose. I asked cashier if they could search a size 22 or order it for me and they couldn't (I'm guessing this is non current style). So when I got home I found them online and ordered the size 22 which it a little snug... go figure! I ordered the pants in two colors- the army green and in black. They both fit the same so I'm guessing the little snugness isn't a defect (drinking more water now). The black looks more like a deep dark charcoal grey. I'll be keeping both and cannot wait to wear them walking in the beach and whatever other vacation activities I encounter. I had to select "how they fit" or it wouldn't allow me to post my comment so I chose runs a little small. Pros: lightweight, soft, comfortable, great style for vacation Cons: little in between sizes, color- black isn't dark it's more like really dark charcoal grey I would definitely recommend these pants and am likely to buy more.

I'm always down for a good hike. Usually you'll find me wearing jeans and a tshirt. But, not anymore. These pants are ultralight and stretchy. They passed the squat test, which I thought would be a problem with purchasing a lighter color. Glad to see a company taking on the plus size side of outdoor active clothing.

I bought these for a trip to Ireland. We haven't gone yet but I think these will be great. They are lightweight and can be dressed up a little for a night out at the pub and also worn hiking during the day. There's just enough stretch for comfortable wear but not so much that they'll bag or sag. They even gave me a nice little shape in the all right places!

I chose the tan color because I wanted something light for summer hiking in the desert. I wear between a 22 and 24. I chose a 24 and they're a little loose. They have a lot of stretch so I could've sized down. They are incredibly thin and stretchy. They show everything, so choose undergarments wisely. I had to wear leggings underneath for winter walks. These will be great for hot days though. I love the bootcut! They fit comfortably over my hiking boots. I didn't notice any chafing or rubbing but I was also wearing a base layer. These are definitely warm weather pants. I'm happy with my overall purchase.

These are great pants for hiking or casual wear. My only issue is that the waistband doesn't really have any 'give' or stretch so the pants are comfy and stretchy but the waistband feels tight.
