Beautiful boot, very comfortable. Love the hint of brown/red in the heel. Like others have stated, this boot is a PIA to get on and off, you almost have to completely unlace them. A zipper would have been nice but it’s not a deal breaker. The quality is very good; a soft, supple leather. You can dress these up or down, they are very versatile. These are now one of my favorite boots, I highly recommend. Get them on sale tho, don’t pay full price as I don’t think they are worth almost $400 directly from Fye’s. I paid about $220 and at that price I feel it’s a good deal.

i've worn a size 12 in nike running shoes for 20 years. i bought these in an 11, and they're perfect. with thin socks, they're still a tiny bit loose which is fine. thought about getting some chukkas, but went with these because i liked the higher boot style a little better. a little regret because these are pretty cumbersome to get on and laced up each time, since the laces go from the toes to the top. but that also contributes to how snug and comfortable they feel once on. so they look great, feel great, just take a minute to get on.

I received my pair today and true to Frye, they have amazing construction, weight and quality. BUT, the color in cognac that I received looks nothing like the photos. At best it's a chestnut. To be sure, they're still attractive, solid, excellent materials and worth up to their offered price on many web sites of $250. Yes, be forewarned to set your alarm for 10 minutes earlier since 10 eyelets are a bear to work with. Plan on putting them on and wearing them till bedtime. Not recommended if you're going to fly anywhere since you'll back up the TSA line unlacing for days. The fit is a bit wider than normal for me even with bulky socks. The leather is very thick and durable, but I'm afraid that might have a downside of at least some break-in time necessary at least in my case for the right shoe. I went for my first trial walk today and they are comfortable though with the slightly larger size even with the laces drawn pretty tight, I found my heel raising as I walked somewhat. Nothing to see here folks, move along, but still with an adjustment period. Overall I give it 4 stars. Build, heft, materials quality are 5 stars. The color being so far off and not what I ordered thous still attractive, makes at least the Russian judge hold up a lower score. Honestly, I would have returned them but I found them somewhere at a significant discount. Really would have preferred that cognac color it was supposed to be.

Quality shoe. Well made and attractive. Getting in and out of this shoe, however, is labor (you may need help getting them off, unless you don't mind sleeping in them). This black leather with a side zip would be preferable.
