I bought this boot years ago on sale. I bought black and a chesnut brown. The black leather were stiffer but the brown were the best boots I owned and I own many pairs of boots. I call them my zombie apocalypse boots because they are the one pair of boots I will grab when running from zombies. I just bought the rubbed brown ones. They are an interesting weathered brown color and more importantly they are soft and comfortable. They may be my new zombie apocalypse boot. Additionally, they run true to size. I know many frye run big but these do not.

I bought the Chocolate Waxed Vintage Suede in my usual size 8. Beautiful, beautiful boots. The top 3 buckles on the shaft can be adjusted to make the gusset a little bigger over the calf, which I needed to do, as I do have wide calves. I gave the comfort only 4 stars for now, because like most solid leather boots that are designed to last forever, these are very stiff and require breaking in. The leather is thick, oily and substantial. I have a high instep, and it was difficult to get my foot in initially, but once in, the boots fit fabulously. Can't wait for the weather to cool down enough to wear these! One more thing...the description says the shaft is 17" tall, but it is really 15.5" tall.

I left a 5-star review earlier but now need to revise....One of the straps on the buckles was broken off either before I noticed or within minutes of me wearing them. Fortunately Zappos is always great about returns. I did check on Frye's site for reviews and see that I am not the only one who had problems with the boot straps being broken.

I buy my Frye boots 1/2 size up. I like them to feel a little roomy especially across my toes. These boots fit great in size 9. I have room for an arch support or a thick sock and they are comfortable as they are! The leather is nicely oiled, thick, and very soft! They are comfortable right out of the box. I bought the black with brown roughed up accents. They are gorgeous! I was hoping I wouldn’t love them as much as I do...I may want a second pair. I also like the textured rubber sole. (I often have to add winter soles to my Frye boots.).

Instantly obsessed with these boots. They fit true to size and the leather is nice and soft. Comfortable to wear right away without having to break them in. I can tell already they will be my new go-to boots for everything. So glad I decided to get these.

Leather is really nice quality- soft but sturdy. Absolutely comfortable to wear right away. Fit is true to size. I was able to put them on with regular socks and some thicker socks and both fit ok. Very comfortable. I love the distressing of the leather. I have been eyeing these boots for awhile now but I was worried about ordering these without trying them on first but so happy that I took the leap! 100% LOVE.

I'm still in the breaking in period, so expect the comfort to go up to 5 stars over time. This is my second pair of Frye boots, and I freaking love them. My first pair is from the Melissa line - for comparison, the 8 was good in length, a little narrow, but they've stretched where needed. I wound up needing to go up to an 8.5 in this style. The width is much better for me on these - I'll need to stretch the toe area just a smidge, but not as much as the pair from the Melissa line. As usual, the leather (full grain brush off) is really nice quality. These are my new favorite boots!

I love these boots. I have a wider calf but these actually zipped up! Super comfortable and look fantastic. My bestie saw them on me and ordered her own pair the same day!

These are beautifully made boots. I love the black leather that has been "wiped" to give a wonderful brownish tone in places. The leather is very fine and the boots and well constructed. Some of Frye's boots do not live up to their reputation for quality, but these do! Sadly, I had to return them because they were not as flattering on my leg as I had envisioned. But I highly recommend them if the style works for you!

Loved these boots -- unfortunately they didn't fit. I wear an 8.5 usually, but the 8.5 was too tight in the toes/widest part of my foot, and the 9s were too big and my heels kept slipping out. Loved them though, they looked amazing and were very comfortable. Hated to return.

These particular boots were smaller than the black 8.5. I had to return them, I couldn’t get my foot in at all.

They were pretty comfy right from the start. I have a wide toe box and my foot fit perfectly in my usual size. They need more support for me but that is because I always need support. Love the color & the buckles. Over all great quality boot. Very happy I purchased these!

Such a cool boot..Fits like a glove. I wear with all my fave black jeans

The size is a little snug especially around my calf but I do have a size 17" calf and they barely zipped but I've been wearing them around the house and they have stretched. I put on a medium weight sock with pants and they fit over them so I'm happy. Not the most comfortable boot but hopefully it'll get better with wear. I do love the way they look though and they smell great!

Took a couple wears to break them in but they fit perfectly!

Live these Fryes! They run a little big in the calves which works well for my 16” calves. The buckles are cute...not overdone. Happy I got these while they had my size!

This is a gorgeous pair of boots. Nice leather and very fine craftsmanship. Problem for me is the circumference is on the wide side - I'm 5'5 with a slender build. These boots are already almost kneel-high for me. Adding the wide circumference it just looks too bulky on me; the thigh-to-calf ratio is just off, so I had to return it (sadly). For someone taller or with more legs this pair will definitely looks amazing

Great boot all around. I need something with some sole so I bought these. I have another pair (Button something or other) and the sole was slick. I still love them. I’ve worn Veronica around the house and so far so good. I also ordered my daughter the kids version of these. I just wish the sole was a tad more chunky/full. But I do live in the mountains so my terrain requires it. Nothing a cobbler can’t fix. Worth every penny.

I absolutely fell in love with these boots online. I have several cardigans/outfits to wear them with and looked forward to receiving them. Unfortunately, they are not available in wide calf. I called the service line for anything I might do to accomodate my athletic calves. I found out they are not available in wide calf and since they have a zipper, I could not get much stretch out of the leather. With regret, I am returning these beloved boots. I did order the short boot version, but am disappointed the taller ones were not available in wide calf.

I have many Frye boots these were really good styling, but the width crushed my toes and top of my foot. Very strange and I’m not going up in size because my foot will slip up in the heel. I couldn’t get any sock into the boot and the pressure on the top of my foot was significant, and I have thin feet. I sent them back but was bummed out, Fryes are like slippers for me!

I love this edgy look. Leather is a little rugged but it will break in as I wear them just like all my other Frye boots. I ordered my size which is 9.5 but they were really tight. Ordered the 10 and they were perfect!

They lookEd sloppy on my legs. The angle to get into the boot high, so it’s awkward to get into, and then the shaft is really loose. I tightened the buckles, but then they didn’t look right. I’d say these are for folks with larger calves and narrow slim feet.
