Overall this is a great bag for my mon-thurs travel. Quality is very nice and stiff, straps and great. I will say the bag feels smaller than the stated volume when compared to other brands. Maybe another inch of thickness would make it perfect.

The Authority Laptop Backpack Deluxe is my third Timbuk2 purchase. I also have a briefcase and bought my wife a small packback. I have not used the new backpack yet as I bought it primarily for air travel, the other two items have been terrific both look wise and functionally.

Pack is well segmented and fits my17" laptop. The straps and non sweat back is great and makes the commute better. Only crique is the lack of non-tech storage. I use the bag to carry work out gear and it does all.

I researched all over to find the right backpack for my commuter and travel life. I needed one that could hold a fairly large laptop, while still providing plenty of room for things like my lunch bag, water bottle, electronics, headphones, a book, and even a change of shoes. This one fits the bill for me. There are plenty of pockets and zipper sections, and the back and arm straps are so well cushioned that it doesn't feel like I'm even wearing it. An important thing to keep in mind this bag doesn't not extend out much, so if you're looking for something almost as a carryon for travel, something to fit a change of clothes, shoes, and your work essentials, etc., this likely isn't for you. Time will tell as to how it holds up for me during our hot summers, but I'm feeling positive.

I bought this bag as the reviews applauded the high build quality and I intend to use this for many year to come. My only issue is that is is much smaller than I expected. 4 Notebooks and a small umbrella is about the most I can fit inside the main compartment, if all my text-books were not on my laptop I would be forced to return is.

The zippers seem very tight and may fail after a few uses similar to the last Timbuk2 I purchased.

I switched from an older gen Swiss Army backpack to this and surprisingly this smaller and compact looking Timbuk2 fit everything. It is well made, has very good padding for the laptop and for the back. The only changes I would like to this otherwise excellent bag are: 1) front pocket "side zipper" should not come open all the way to prevent things from sliding out easily (if the zipper leaves even half inch unopened then things will remain wedged in). 2) the front pocket "top zipper" has a flap and hard to get to the zip. 3) The external bottom straps will tend to get dirty as I put the bag on the ground (the bag material itself seems waterproof but the straps are nylon and will get dirty). 4) Wish it was customizable or had more stylish colors, tired of boring black :(

Very impressed with the look, quality, and features. Will not fit my Lenovo P72 17" laptop in the padded compartment, but it fits in the middle compartment no problem. Will use for sure but disappointed it doesn't fit in the padded area.

This is a well made laptop back back, and has a real slim, stylish vibe. You won't feel out of place in a boardroom or airport lounge with it. But it's also narrow, with small pockets. Don't expect to hold a lot, and it's not likely to work as an overnight bag. But for commuting and protecting a couple of pieces of tech, and carrying some added books and papers it's perfect. Just know what you want.

The last bag I bought I took with me everywhere for 6 years and bought a new one since the old was showing signs of wear. I truly loved this old bag. The new one seems ok, but not nearly as sturdy as the old. Different material, less functional (and fewer) internal pockets, and the water bottle holder on the side is much smaller. Overall not the quality I was expecting. Will see how long this version lasts.

It's my everyday backpack, and as such, given the Timbuk2 it replaced (and which you no longer make) had a MUCH larger main compartment with overall the same pocket layout, I find it pretty disappointing along those lines. Not returning it, because overall it functions well enough and the larger bags you do have don't have the pocket layout I want. But again, not thrilled with the reduced size of the compartment compared to the old bag (blanking on the name, it was, like, the Commander or something).

This backpack is fine, it is waterproof and has good protection for all the electronics I need to put into it. It's a bit taller than I would like and the lack of a small outside pocket for keys, wallet, phone, is a bit of a hassle. The outside pocket is deep and cavernous so there's always a fair bit of digging for anything I need quick access to.

Quality is great. Disappointed in he organization options. Needs more pockets for travel. For a person who starts the day with coffee and ends with water, I need two outside drink pockets

For years I wanted to buy a Timbuk backpack and now it breaks my heart to write this review. But let me start with the pros: this is a really beautiful backpack, great materials, great quality, easy to carry (weight distribution is perfect). Cons: size. I have never had a 20l backpack that feels and is so small. Nearly everything needs to be squeezed in, and it's really really disappointing. Value for money is simply not there I was hoping this bag would replace my now worn out backpack, but I guess I will have to search for something else.

I've used the back for a couple of years and while the build quality is amazing (looks basically new after the abuse I put it through), there are some serious flaws. The chest clip is super high if you have the shoulder straps extended. It right up around my neck, which makes them unusable for me, and you can't adjust it lower. The length of the bag is a bit of a problem as no laptop will ever bee that wide and the pockets that are toward the top of the bag block access when full to stuff below. I'm always rooting around in the bottom looking for stuff that I can't see because the pocket where I put cables and pens (the only pocket really appropriate for those things) are blocking it. The front pocket zipper opens on the side. I've lost numerous cables, chargers because the zipper was down and stuff just falls out the side. That pocket should open across the top like the others. Despite its length, I find I can't put as much stuff in it as other bags I've had because it doesn't really expand. When you do put more things in it (like a jacket or extra layers), it bulges and the fit of everything gets tighter than what I've experienced in other bags. It retains its style but loses some functionality. I guess these are compromises/trade-offs, and it will last a long time so be aware of these limitations.

Quite frankly it is way too small for me. I was surprised by its size -- you'll be able to fit your laptop but not much more. I went with the next model up and I'm loving it though.

I wanted to buy US made. Unfortunately, the Under Armour backpack I had for years had worn out. I wanted one similar to it with lots of pockets and a shoe compartment. While the backpack is well made, it does not have the adequate storage pockets. For example, it deeds two, not one side pocket. It's ok, but unfortunately, I don't feel it's a superior enough product to warrant the extra price I paid.

Overall, the bag is constructed very well and the laptop compartment is very padded and secure. I wish that it was a little bit bigger and could hold more items. The thing that I really miss that I had in my old backpack is that I wish it had a lot more smaller sub compartments to hold small items. I have had to get a few small zippered pouches to put inside to hold the things that used to be in their own separate compartments.

This bag is high quality, as expected. It has a very slim form, which looks sleek and fits the body. But if I am carrying anything more than a laptop and a 250 page book around it gets lumpy and cluttered and runs out of space. This bag has three compartments, one for a laptop (excellent), and two compartments that are basically laptop+ compartments. They are not deep by any stretch. If I was redesigning this, I would ditch one of the two main compartments to allow the bag more versatility in what I can pack. I would also extend the zippers on either side, this bag simply doesn't open very wide at all. This is great for work, but it is not an everyday bag that can handle a variety of cargo.

It's alright. The shoulder straps and padding are terrific, and the zippers feel firm and are convincingly waterproof. The internal organization could use some work though. I ended up buying a separate organizer because there's nowhere to fit in cables, chargers, etc without it being a disorganized mess. More side-access pockets would help. Also the backpack is weirdly nonflat when filled and acts like it's on a pivot. I know it's not supposed to be free-standing but this could fall forwards, backwards, and sometimes sideways if in a car. Overall it's a fine backpack and will do the job.

Materials are great. But I had to return due to the depth of the backpack. I didn't have enough room to bring my lunch bag to work. Organization pouch and laptop pocket were fantastic. Make the center pocket bigger and I would purchase again.

Overall a great backpack. Really well made and top quality. Although it does have a lot of pockets, it doesn't have a ton of room. There is enough space for a couple of books + notebook, a laptop, and not much else. My biggest complaint is the water bottle pocket on the side. Good luck fitting anything wider than a can of coke in that pocket.

I use the backpack for work in construction. I love how slim it is because I can still walk into air handlers and climb caged ladders with it on. Quality is very nice everything is holding up. Only thing I don't like is that the backpack straps don't open up very far so it's really hard to get my second arm in the strap. I've just been single strapping or using a different backpack because of that but when I do wear it and need to 2 strap it takes help from co- workers to get it on me.
