Very well made - plenty of useful pockets and 2 large storage compartments. Fits a surprising amount of stuff without becoming bulky. I would just say that it is definitely more of a navy blue than true black. The handle, zippers, and bottom piece are all black so it makes the blue stand out as a different color. That being said I am still very happy with the bag and like the way it looks.
About 6 months in, use it every day and it still looks brand new. Highly recommended.

I use this as my daily communiting bag. Walking in a rainy city, hopping a train, climbing way too many stairs and its always comfortable and just works perfect. Everyday I carry my work laptop and a personal tablet in hte laptop sleeve area. Theres a perfect spot for my kindle in one of the internal pockets. next to that I have some makeup, pens, all the cords, shopping bag, packed bag cover, and a variety of little gagets and such for work. the larger middle compartment always holds more than I expect it to. Shoes, clothes, I have my lunch, coffee cup, sun and reading glasses and toiletries like toothbrush and deodorant in there now. i can fit a large protein shaker in the water bottle and its never fallen out. the key lanyard is super handy since i used to lock myself out alot. I can easily have everything i need comfortably and with wiggle room in this bag. i HIGHLY recommend for commuters with a harder terrain it still works great. Straps adjust well to different jackets and fabric isnt waterproof but hasnt had a problem yet in seattle spring rain. Only downside is the mesh area where I was storing my headphones, mouse, etc for quick grab. it and the pouches in that main front open area got loose really quickly. Likley not designed for that kind of weight but it makes it a little more akward to get anything below those areas now. Not a serious issue though as this sucker packs it all so well and is greatly organized and super comfortable! you wont regret this bag at all!

I use this bag for business travel. The pockets are large enough and the straps just feel right. It's hard to describe but they are comfortable and are easy to take on and off. Surprisingly helpful part is the straps on the bottom which can hold a sweater without having to pack it.

Bomb proof. I've got a 15 year old who has no concern for the stuff he (we) own. Hammers his school backpack. It is one of the few we have had that can handle it, plus. Great bag.

It's my everyday backpack. I put all my electronics: laptop, headphones, compact electric screwdriver, chargers, and cables. There are many pockets to organize and fill with things you need throughout the day. It fits all this whilr maintaining its sleek and neat build. The straps are extremely comfortable and designed in a way where it almost doesn't feel like you have a backpack on. It contours to my back very well. I've had it for over half a year and no sign of wear of tear. This backpack will last me a lifetime.

I had this bag stolen and then I bought another one because I got a job that requires me to travel. It fits my laptop and my iPad. It also stores My note books and my large headphones. I throw all of my chargers in there and other small items that I do not want to put in my duffle bag. I love this laptop because the last one barely looked worn after like two years and I take it with me all over the place. The organization of the bag is good for business professionals and students. Back padding is really nice and there are a lot of air channels for the back and as someone that gets really hot I do not get that hot keeping it on.

I've owned this backpack for a few years now and it goes with me everywhere. I love so much of what it offers. And now that mine is starting to wear out, I want to buy another BUT THIS BAG NEEDS TWO THINGS. ONE: it needs a second water-bottle/umbrella holder. The fact that I cannot carry both an umbrella and a water bottle in their own side pouches is really limiting. TWO: the key lanyard/hook thing is awesome, but it doesn't work well for a right handed person. If you could put a second key hook on a lanyard in the smaller front pocket on the right side of that pocket or offer an alternative orientation for the front pocket that has the key lanyard/hook thing so that the zipper is on the right, that would make this bag absolutely perfect and I'd drop everything to buy another.

Searched for a long time to find a laptop that fits 16" laptops and looks good, finally found this and was able to fit two 16" laptops in there! Love all the different compartments for chargers, gadgets etc as well, really helps everything stay organized when traveling. The backpack itself it also quite light so it doesn't add too much to the overall weight.

I've only owned this for about a week and purchased it along with the Never Check Packpack to see which one would win out as my work backpack for planes, working remotely at Starbucks, conferences, and even family trips with all the random things I have to back for myself and kids.
Overall, it's MUCH better quality than the Never Check. I dont even see how the two were both manufactured by Timbuk2, Never Check is a "NEVER BUY" in my opinion. Anyway, the Authority pack is nearly perfect. Plenty of storage pockets for random work related needs such as hot spots, HDMI cords, chargers, battery packs, pens, business cards, etc.
My old PacSafe backpack is great, but after traveling extensively over the last year, the lack of small pocks and storage compartments left me stuffing everything in to one small pocket and always leaving me worried something fell out on the plane or wherever I am. I will say that both my old backpack and this new one claim to be 28L and I'll venture to guess that the Authority pack at 28L is a little bit optimistic. It seems like it's likely smaller than that. One other con is the lack of TWO water bottle holders. It's nice to have two, one for your travel water bottle and one for the random drink you might purchase, or one of your kids water bottles.
I also like the separate laptop compartment so I could theoretically overstuff the main compartment with items and not have to open it for my laptop. The luggage strap is also very nice to have, something the Never Check doesn't have, which makes no sense since it's meant for traveling on airplanes!!!
Long story short, great pack, just big enough for work travel (with a suitcase) and maybe even big enough for an overnight / couple changes of clothes if you don't have anything else in the main compartment.

I just wore out the original Authority backpack. I bought the slick grey color and the shiny coating eventually wore off and peeled on the top due to UV exposure over 5 years. I'm thrilled to pick up a new one just seeing them come back into stock, and looking forward to the updates of the Deluxe version. I went with black this time for something different and to avoid that clear coating. IT'S AMAZING tho. Slim against your back, yet I carry I macbook pro, an ipad 12" pro. plus all manner of other things, tools and sharp objects, paper, liquid. The devices stay protected in their own compartments.

This backpack is absolutely amazing. I've used it for biking, school, and just going shopping. The spacious interior makes it great for school, while the clean design makes it general appealing. this is definitely the best backpack I have ever bought and will probably stay that way forever.

I use this product for my commute to work and when I go out to a coffee shop. I take my iPad Pro with me in the laptop pouch and then all of my cables and chargers in the front pocket. The materials are nice and the zippers are great. Will be buying my younger brother a bag for college too.

Someone did his homework so you can do yours. This bag is so well designed for tech equipment and other knickknacks, with plenty of separate compartments neatly divided to avoid clutter, that you will wonder how any other bag could possibly compete. I love that it fits so much, but doesn't seem bulky when you're wearing it. Nice and slim through and through.
On top of the great design, the material is durable on the outside and protective on the inside. I'm happy I'm ordered when I did. It looks like it is almost sold out.
It's mean for school or work or anywhere you take your tech gear. I see people commenting that they use it for hiking and biking, but I think you should get a different bag for recreational activities.

Very satisfied.
I use this product to carry around laptop and other books. This bag is very roomy with waterproof fabric inside. Very nice design, especially the shoulder pads, which makes prolonged carriage less tiring. Another great thing is the customer service! They were quick to respond to any issues.

I bought this backpack going into senior year of university and I am beyond pleased with it. It holds everything I could ever need on campus and looks good doing it. The quality of the bag makes me hopeful that I'll be lugging it around for a long time. It was smaller than I thought it would be but holds more than I thought it could. It rides pretty high and hugs my back but it feels secure and snug for me.

I bought this for my son for his first year at college. He has packed with already, even though he doesn't leave for another week. He's thrilled at the capacity and comfort - we'll see how it holds up. He did say that his water bottle didn't fit well in the pocket, but that may be more a consequence of the size of his water bottle.

By far the best backpack I have ever owned!!!! This backpack will fit in any environment whether you are going to the office or on a hike. I am not too sure how long this durable backpack will last, but If anything happens, I will absolutely go straight to TIMBUK 2 because they just have amazing style and high-quality backpacks for a good price.
However, this backpack is a little bit small just because I have a wide back. So for those that have wide lats and are built, in general, expect this backpack to be a little small.

I purchased this to go with me to campus in the fall when I start college. If everything goes as we hope, I'll be taking this everywhere with all my stuff and room to spare. If not, it still looks great. Good design and materials.

I use this pack for daily hauling to and from the office - yes, I'm still going into the office. I stuff this thing with all my technology gear, a 13" MacBook Pro, iPad and Microsoft Surface, as well as an assortment of notebooks, digital recorders, cables, mics, and batteries. This pack holds it all. Though I've only had it for a couple of weeks, I think it's going to hold up very well. Pockets everywhere, and plenty of zippers for quick and safe access. The fabric is pretty good, but I do like the fabric on my previous Timbuk2 pack - oh well.
