This is a very nice coat. The 3 in 1 will be perfect for moving to Chile where it rains a lot. I'm 5'11 and 160 lbs and usually wear a medium or a large, but I had to exchange the med for a small and it fit perfect. The small was not as wide in the body but still great in length. The only complaint I have is the really flashy, reflective inside. I almost returned for that reason. It is not attractive at all. It looks cheap. If they could change that, it would be perfect.

Good jacket, would be better with more 25% more fill in the liner. I know Columbia was going for less bulk but the reflective heat tech they use is not as effective at providing immediate and long lasting warmth. Jacket needs to be layered with sweater or fleece in very cold temps (20f or below). Waterproofing seems very good, material on shells seems pretty durable. Closures and hood are all good and don't seem to ice up.

I like the coat a lot, it just fits a size higher than I ordered. I ordered a small, which usually fits snug with other clothes but this is super baggy on me. It's nice otherwise though!

Overall, like the jacket. Like others have said, the main zipper seems small and light. I'd be much more confident with a larger and heavier zipper. My last Columbia ski jacket died because the small and light zipper broke. Also, size runs large and boxy. Would love a more athletic fit. I'm at the top end of the size indicated for this jacket, and it is still a bit large. A second interior pocket would be good. Really like the length of the jacket, the overall quality (except the zipper) and warmth, the adjustable hood and collar, the storm flap over the zipper and the color. Also, Columbia stands behind its products, which I really appreciate. This is my third Columbia ski jacket. First two lasted about 25 years.

The coat is long for my body habitus. I would like to see a double zipper to allow free moment at the waist. Other than that I love the style and it is very good at holding in warmth

Nice jacket that fits well. Haven't used the shell yet for skiing but the puff jacket is warm enough to use as a winter coat. The puff jacket is light weight and compacts nicely in a bag.

Good warmer. Separability of liner and shell is a nice feature, and liner is nice for more urban setting.

Not for the colder winter. Great for fall weather. Did not keep the cold out. Arms would be cold. Zipper would catch and get stuck. But overall, I loved the jacket until the zipper issues.

Got it in off season and very happy with it. The insulated liner is very nice looking so will be able to wear it separately in the fall and spring.

When my old winter jacket was worn out, I didn't hesitate to buy a new one of Columbia, because I trust the good quality, reasonable price and your satisfactory service. And even I have bought several jackets from your outlet stores for my friends as gift. I'm glad my friends love them too. Thank you so much.

I bought this specifically for a ski trip to Killington, Vermont. The weather ranged from 5 to 25 degrees. It kept me warm but not too warm. It was actually just perfect. Not too tight or baggy. The pocket near the wrist sleeve was the perfect size for the RFID card when going on the lifts as well as the pockets near the chest for my cellphone. My only gripe is the reflective silver material on the inside jacket. Since the inside bubble jack separates I was hoping to use it as an every day for cool weather. I tell you, it looks great over all, but the interior lining is a bit too obvious. Overall I highly recommend it, especially for the price.

Very comfortable jacket and I like the fact that I can take out the inner jacket and use that. Tried it for the first time when the temp was around 0 degrees and all I had on was a tank top tee and long sleeve shirt underneath the jacket and I was comfortable while skiing. My left arm got a little cold but not bad. The hood worked great as the wind picked up and the temp was probably about 5 degrees below zero. The hood fit nicely over my helmet. I would have given this 5 stars if the jacket sleeve kept my arm a little warmer.

I bought the jacket for my husband. The jacket runs a little long for him. The sleeves are long enough. The outer shell repels water and snow for a warm and dry experience. Columbia makes great products that my whole family can enjoy wearing and remain warm when out in the elements. I would recommend this product.

I was surprised at how large this is. I got an XL and it's pretty roomy. I have a similar version of the jacket I've had for years and it's not as roomy. Haven't tested it's warmth because it has been warm in Texas. My timing was bad because this coat was marked down $40 about a week or so later. Now that's disappointing. Nice looking jacket, but heavier weight. I had planned on taking this on trips to Europe because of it's layers, but way to thick and heavy to pack.

I loved the jacket, but it was huge! I ended up having to get a different color because they didn't have the one I originally ordered in a smaller size.

My first impression is that this jacket runs a little large (and long in the arms), which is ok if you intend to layer. However, this it's almost unnecessary as it is a very warm jacket. I recently skied in 20 F weather and was comfortable with just a thermal base, and a long sleeve T. The jacket being a little large tends to "ride up" or bunch up when your sitting on the lift or in the car (I removed the jacket for the car ride). There are some notable drawbacks regarding the zippers. They are way too small to operate with gloves. This includes all the compartment zippers as well. One big drawback was that the main zipper separated bottom up (not cool when clearing the lift). It's a single zipper system (2 would be nice so you could zip upwards the lower half for the lift, or just even the car ride). One last note, in regards to zippers, the zipper pulls are way too short. I'm going to have too add some longer ones to the under arm vent zippers so I don't have to remove my gloves on the slopes. Overall, the jacket did it's job, and if you don't mind taking off your gloves, it's a good jacket.

I'm very tall and thin and a bit more sensitive to something heavy on my body than most. Having said that, this jacket strikes the perfect balance. It feels substantial enough to do the job, but it's not heavy. I don't expect this jacket to be too warm because I'll mostly be wearing it when hiking on ice or snow and snowshoeing. I'll have layers under it. I think of it as a shell that protects the layers. I think it'll work well against wind and snow. The medium runs a little large, but it's not a problem. I took off a star for the inner jacket that can be worn separately. I was looking forward to getting 2 jackets for the price of one (and on sale to boot), but the inner jacket worn separately definitely looks like a large or even extra large on me. At 6'4" and 155 with a 30 waist, the jacket tents out too much and isn't at all flattering on my frame. I doubt very many other men will consider this a problem. Having said that, I once lost an inner jacket like this, making the outer shell much more ineffective as a winter coat, so I'm probably better served to never separate the two. I am very satisfied with the overall product and am happy that I purchased it. Perhaps I should say 4.5 stars. If you're a positive person, you can round it to 5.

This jacket matched the description, images, and other information provided online. It is warm and comfortable and the sizing was accurate to the provided previews. Although the zipper can come free from the bottom, if you button the bottom of the coat after zipping it that does not occur.

I haven't bought a jacket since 2014 I had the CUBIST IV jacket and been wearing that one forever and I finally get this new jacket and it was everything I could ever wanted. I loved the cubist because of the pockets the 2 chest pockets and then the wrist pocket where i would put my bus card. The Whirlibird is a great jacket as well it can use those 2 more pockets bit other then that it's very warm. The size is true to size it's just right. The fact that it's a 3 in 1 jacket makes it so much better it's not to cold you just keep the jacket inside and take the other one off it's a great design for the jacket.

I ordered this jacket online, but had to return it. It was good, nice looking, perfect fit and had many functions. Unfortunately, I did not feel 100% warm even in milder MN cold. So I ended up returning this and ordered a different version with "down" feature instead.

I'm very happy with the purchase of this coat. It's very warm and well-made. I feel the zipper could've been a larger more heavy duty zipper. Other than that it's great

For reference, I'm 6'2" bean pole at about 180lbs, and bought black M. I tested it against my Carhartt, which I was intending for the Whirlibird to replace. I may see about upgrading to the Wild Card, but I want to call and ask them first. I wore this outside without any base layers for about 15 minutes. I've not owned a Columbia jacket before, so I wanted to see if they omni-heat could stand against my Carhartt. I wore two hats, snow pants, gloves, and a wool gaiter. I sat in the shade on a cushion when it was about 15-20 degrees with windchill here in MI. I did the same with my Carhartt, except the with the Carhartt I wore a zip-up fleece, which is something I might wear normally together. I noticed that it felt a little drafty with the Columbia jacket and my arms got cold. My torso was a little chilled. My Carhartt+fleece faired a tad better. Overall, I think it is a good jacket, but it might not be suited for subzero temperatures. I want to get something where I don't have to put three for four layers under the jacket to move around outside in MI when it gets too cold. When I worked in construction a few years ago and it got to -10 outside (yes, we were really far behind and still working outside in the winter), I wore 3 layers under my Carhartt + overalls. With limited experience, I think this would do well in the 10-25 range if you were moving and had a base layer. It's not a parka meant for the arctic. I'm going to call and talk to a rep and see what he or she thinks would be best. I'm not sure if I want to spend the money just for a different looking jacket at about the same warmth as something I already own. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or not (if they allow me to return it after wearing it outside briefly). It would be helpful if Columbia gave a rough temperature rating moving outside with and without a base layer. Sizing and other: At first, it seemed to bunch out from my chest when I sat down, and I thought it was too large, but that probably was from packaging and it seemed more natural a little later when I tried it on. The zipper will have issues if you don't start it correctly, which is easy to do because it is a bit small.

The waterproof outer layer, and insulated inner layer provides warmth and keeps you dry. It is perfect for snowy conditions. Quality is good but zips could be better. Overall great product and totally worth it.
