Exceptional. Used in the Canadian River Valley Winter Revenge and the Hypothermic half in straight ice. They are warm and extremely grippy. If you ever hit pavement with them they feel like Velcro. Lots of stability through the ankle, high arch support, large studs. Best winter shoe you can get.

It keeps my feet dry and warm, it helps with traction on snow and ice, it's super comfortable and (bonus) it looks great! I'm on my second pair now (had the old Snowcross for 6 years) and loving the new one.

Absolutely love this shoe for my snowy runs. Super comfortable and keeps your ankle and foot dry and warm. The traction is amazing on snow and handles icy spots really well. I just took them on a 21mile run with 4K of elevation on fresh snow, and 6 hours later my feet were still dry and warm. Could not recommend more.

These are my second pair of Salomon Snowspike shoes as I purchased the first pair a few years ago and have ran hundreds of miles in them. I live in the mountains of North Idaho so we get a lot of snow and ice but it doesn't slow me down when I'm wearing these shoes.

4 months into owning the Snowspikes and just over 300 KM's experiencing everything from sloppy wet 0*C runs to bone chilling -40*C runs on ice, this shoe never once left me wanting more. Always warm, stable and nimble underfoot, these are my go to winter running footwear. My only recommendation to the design team would be to add an abrasion resistant section on the inner upper ankles, I have found at the end of my longer 20+KM runs my form will fall off and at times I'll clip my inner ankles with my heel spikes causing some slight ripping. This review however remains 5 stars, as there is no other shoe on the market that can do what this shoe does.

First run in these meritorious made me very happy indeed! Was running in La Sportivas and these have far better grip in snow, ice and mud. They are warm, run true to size (7.5 USD) and are well worth the $$$. Time will tell on their durability but so far, I'm impressed!

Purchased a pair of these and the following weekend we were hit with freezing rain and snow conditions, a perfect test! I was able to do 15K through packed snow, ice and slushy conditions on the trail without missing a step, amazing! They do fit a bit narrow for my feet, but overall fairly comfortable. We'll see how they last as the winter gets nasty, specifically the zipper which is integral to the fit but could end up being the weak point. Time (and kilometers) will tell!

I've done about 20 miles so far in these. Really comfortable - and given the extra gaiter and the studs weight is only a little bit more than a standard pair of Speedcross 5's. Fit is pretty much the same as an SP5 with a little bit more room in the toe box. Grip on snow / rough ice is excellent - I was running where walkers feared to tread - end even on sheet ice (where it's melted and re-frozen) you can at least walk without ending up on your bum! Ideally I'd like a couple more centre-line studs - one in the heel and one just behind the forefoot.

I have never owned a winter hiking boot whose features combine such a delicate balance between performance and comfort. They are just perfect.

Here in Coastal Alaska, we see quite a bit of rain (12-15 feet annually). That makes for a lot of ice on the rocky-muddy trails a little higher up, but these bad boys have nailed it. I cannot recall a single slippage event thus far and although I have only put about 50 miles (running shoe only) they are holding up very very well. I purchased them in the size that I usually do (1/2 size bigger than my everyday shoe), but I believe that the gaitor must make them feel a bit more snug out of the box. That being said, after the first run they're fine. I can agree with the others here that they are very waterproof. I have ran in the snow, through slush, through deep muskeg, and ice-cold run-off that was over the ankle but not over the shoe height. They're warm and comfy as any other Sense ride. The locking mechanism and the pull tab must be placed in the "right place" which you discover after a few times is not in the wrong place. What I mean by this is that it can become uncomfortable if laid in the wrong place once you zip up. It only takes a few minutes to find out it's not in the "right place". A stop, unzip, moving it to another location within the shoe takes less than a minute to resolve and you're on your way again. Believe me, you'll rememeber where not to put it the next time too. The gaitor height is absolutely perfect and the zipper is flawless as of yet. Great shoe from a great company. Keep it up.

I'm so glad they finally put spikes on this shoe. The traction is great in any condition. The shoes are warm and waterproof. The upper keeps snow out unless you're in some really deep stuff. Keep making it and I'll keep buying a pair every winter.

Used these hill walking on muddy grassy tracks and given me a secure footed feeling. Size fits well on my narrow feet so would advise a size up or more for wider feet.

I bought these for winter trail running, they are great for packed snow and occasional ice. They also do great in mud and have still have adequate traction over rock outcrops. They grab on just about every surface you're likely to encounter in the winter and are very comfortable and warm, and stay comfortable over very long distances. They may look a little bulky but feel nimble and light similar to the speed cross models. I have nothing negative to say and think they are excellent for what they were designed for. Just want to give a heads up, even though they have studs for snow pack and intermittent ice which work well, you do have to take it slower on hills with the hardest ice. You won't be able to take off on a sprint over solid ice.

We have the worst cold winter conditions in Montreal Canada, its always wet with snow and very icy. the shoes are well made! they keep you dry and if is very cold just add a good winter sock and your feet will be always toasty.. when is icy and very slippery the spikes works amazing, you can run if you want . they are futurist good looking, comfortable and not huge or awkward looking as any winter boot , the materials are from the best quality . I run and bike during all winter and the slush and water never gets inside the shoes , i totally recommend.

I love these. Stable, and excellent grip on iced pavement. It takes some getting used to if you run on the balls of your feet but this is mostly due to the surface you are running on. I switch between my daily running stability shoe and these for ice/snow. The arch is also something to consider as I have flat feet but I've been okay on my 5 mile morning runs 5Xs a week. These are warm, and seem bullet proof. The carbide steel spikes look solid so far and not impacted by the mileage. I swapped back to my daily running shoe on ice and know these shoes make a huge difference in safety. I run with confidence in these Solomons.

I bought these for ice/frozen slush/wet trail conditions which is a constant where i live. I had been searching for running shoes with the integrated gaiter and carbide spikes. These are it. my opinions: -integrated gaiter is awesome. much better than separate ones -spikes: i have had a few pairs of icebugs and just do not care for the fit, but they have more spikes in the center of the sole both front and rear and they are missed on this shoe. when your running on lots of steep ice every spike is important. i hope they add more, or better yet replaceable spikes in different sizes. -these shoes look like a gaiter version of the speedcross4, and fit the same. but the sole on these is substantially thicker. i find this give the shoe greater warmth in the cold - great sometimes, sometimes too much. not good or bad, just different. overall if you like salomon shoes and get out in 'challenging' conditions these are great
