I wear this vest for everything. I bought it after falling in love with my thermoball jacket. It is nice and lightweight. Great for use as a layer on those really cold days snowboarding. Only real complaint is that it fits me a little snug in the chest and armpits. I couldn't go a size up because it would be way to big through the torso as the XL is a little looser than I would prefer. Also, I checked out Under Armour's Coldgear Reactor vest. The only thing that I like on that more was the fleece lined hand pockets.

I would recommend product. I like the warmth and the style. The only thing is that it feels a little tight at the chest (waist is fine).

hot for how thin it is and ultralight, this is for autumn I do not recommend it for winter it would be better to have a down, the material is frayed I bought it October I have never washed it I think it would be worse

The Thermoball jackets/vests were much better quality before. And men's used to be regular fit. Now slim fit!? Why? It's hard to find right size now. My dad wore XL, great, a little loose, comfortable. Now, XL is too tight, XXL is way too big. The eco material not great, cheaper, thinner. It's poorer quality now.

Got this vest for Christmas 2019. I wore it in MN during Jan/Feb 2020 and started to notice a few small fuzzy pieces coming out in different spots on the vest. Some could be pulled out or retreated when I pulled on the fabric so I wasn't too concerned. Then while on vacation to Florida in early March a pandemic hit. It rarely got worn after that since we were stuck at home and had a beautiful early spring (for MN). Pulled it out to wear in October 2020 and after a few more weeks bigger pieces and feathers started protruding out. I started to leave them intact because they made tiny holes in the fabric if I pulled them so I mailed it in to NF because it looked awful! Was told it was not repairable and it had burn damage, abrasions - rips/tears. I never wore it near a fire, in the woods or even washed it. Just used it more as a dress vest to the office and to watch my kids play hockey in an arena for a little over 2 months. Other than the feathers/fuzz it was in perfect like new condition. I was given a choice of 1/2 the value of the vest as a credit toward a new one or something different, if not just take an unusable vest back in the end! I would have been happy if they said this must have just been a fluke or faulty batch of fabric so we will replace it, but I can't justify spending another $75 to get back a vest that may or may not do the same. I have purchased NF & Patagonia items for 30+ years as has my entire family. We spend MN winters enjoying the outdoors and both have stood behind their top notch product the very few times we have had issues. I've never minded paying a little more for quality and service! So much for standing behind their product like they use to I guess. I am very disappointed in how this held up along with NF service and would definitely not buy it even though my son has the jacket version of this with no issues. I hesitate to purchase anything similar to this style with others having the same concerns in reviews and will most likely stick with other brands of jackets in the future.

Purchased a Thermoball vest a month ago and I have only worn it a few times. Noticed a small hole in one of the insulated squares with material poking out. All of the insulation from that area of the vest had to be removed. I contacted customer service thinking they would be more than willing to help. I was told I needed to fill out a warranty form and send the vest in for evaluation, which would take 6-8 weeks. I even sent them pictures of the defect. Seems like the NF has changed after more than 15 years of buying their products. Disappointing, but with some many alternatives these days, I think this is probably the last NF product I buy due to the poor customer service.
