I despair with technical gear makers and the lack of options in petite sizing. Women under 5'3" do engage in technical sports, but are doomed to shop in kids sections or look like a kid wearing their parents clothes. I am 5'1" (w/ a regular, 1-1/2" ape index, ie not short arms) and the arms of the Sentinel fall a full 1" beyond my fingertips. There is no way to pull on gloves and manage all that extra sleeve length. And rather than lying smoothly on my chest, the front of the jacket pooches out awkwardly by 3-4" beneath my bust line.
If you are short and in anyway athletically built - try before you buy.
(And please note Arcteryx, women can be "petite" *and* athletic).

I was looking for a jacket I could wear skiing that had regular configuring hand pockets and was going to be durable but also breathable for touring. This fit all my requirements and looks great! I find I'm using it as my regular jacket as well since it's not as crunchy as a lot of my other ones. The cknit is fabulous. Of you run hot through, the lining might add a bit too much warmth for you. I also love that its on the longer side, it gives great coverage.

The go to winter jacket! It is lightly lined with flannel and easy to layer. I use this jacket for touring, resort skiing, and sledding. It is breathable and has the pit vents so you can regulate your temperature throughout the day. I loved how this jacket performed in every condition all season!

So I took a few years off of skiing and finally decided to get back on the hill this year. I wanted a shell that I could use either at the resort or backcountry (once I get into that side of things) - oh baby this one is WONDERFUL! I LOVE the length (I'm 5'11") and the features are so awesome - the buttons to attach to your snowpants is so good, plus the inner pockets and vents. The shell is thicker than the Beta AR and with a base and mid layer this is perfect for the resort! I'm in love.

I have been riding this jacket for a year now, did a lot of days in it and its still going strong. Best fit I have found in a lot of years and super versatile for any day in the mountains. Love that I can layer accordingly and never be to hot. Simple and functional design.

Just a beautiful jacket. Well designed and thought out. The Alpha line always fits me really well but I was looking for a longer jacket to cover my rump:) I am 5'9, broad shouldered and lean. The medium was too tight across shoulders and the large was too generous in the waist. The sleeve length and hood were perfect, loved the ancedote colour. Just not my shape.

This is my 3rd Arc'Teryx shell, I lost weight and had to downsize. The Sentinel AR still has plenty of room for layering. I like that I can adjust based on the weather with either a down puffy or fleece under. Super waterproof, you will not get wet even on the wettest snow days. The length is long, which I like. I do wish it came with a 2 way zipper because the jacket tends to pop out when sitting. I'd also love to see more jackets with a key ring in one pocket, preferably a locking one to make sure you don't lost your keys. Bonus: I sold my old jackets that were still in good shape back to Arc'Teryx and used that money to buy a new one! Great program to recycle used gear!

Awesome shell! I use this for both touring and resort days and it works amazingly well for either. The pit zips are perfect for touring and the features are excellent, but also kept me warm on super chilly days. Also I'm obsessed with the color, the yellow is sick. Very well designed and great fitting jacket!

This is my second Arcteryx jacket and I am not disappointed. I ski and patrol in Pennsylvania and on my off days need a versatile jacket for all weather conditions. The fabric has kept me nice and dry and has held up to the wettest days. I love the longer length especially when sitting on the chair lift. Not too much powder in PA but the powder skirt adds to the comfort on a windy day. My previous Arcteryx jacket still looks great after 9 years and I am sure this one will do the same.

I am 5'9'', 170lbs and this size was perfect! I appreciate the long length of the arms and waist. I was worried initially that it would be a little too baggy but it worked out well as I needed the extra room for layers (you will want to add a mid-layer as this is just a shell) The powder skirt kept me dry after a few falls in the snow. My only complaint was that the storm hood was hard to keep on over my smith helmet. First use was at Big Sky Montana. Well worth the money as it kept me very dry and warm!

Bought this jacket at the beginning of the ski season and so happy I did. I wanted a longer jacket for the ski resort and something with a little bit of insulation rather than just a shell. Got a size bigger than I usually get to be able to layer it for colder days. Love the fit and all the features on this jacket. I get lots of compliments on it.

Arc'teryx sizing follows more of the European model... where a traditional XL gets wider, not just longer than associated smaller sizes. I find the jacket to be flattering and functional on my size 14 frame... something that is nearly impossible among technical brands today. There is even appropriate room for a performance cold-weather layer underneath. For those wanting a slim fit, choose one of the "slim fit" options and those wanting a long fit, choose the longer jacket models. For the Arc'teryx team... thank you for keeping this traditional fit for those of us needing a bit more room and still wanting to layer and not desiring a longer jacket!

Being almost six feet tall I appreciate the longer length of this jacket. I also appreciate the sleeves are long enough as well. I sometimes have trouble finding women's jackets with sleeves long enough. The brushed flannel backer provides a little bit of warmth. On those really cold days in southern Ontario (-15 to -20C) I usually wear a Cerium LT jacket underneath and I'm good to go. The construction is top notch and the high pocket placement is great. I went with the color Bushwhack along with matching Sentinel AR Pants in Bushwhack as well.

This windproof, breathable jacket works best in cold weather activity with either a down sweater or vest underneath. It offers solid wind protection on the ski mountain and ventilation when the body heats up. I love the color and fit.

Beautiful jacket, pairs nicely with puffer underneath. I wore this during a very cold ski weekend in northern Minnesota and it kept me warm. This jacket felt especially wind proof, and very lightweight for such a durable jacket. Would highly recommend. Hood fit over helmet for the windy chairlift rides.

Super pleased with this jacket. I was apprehensive to purchase such an expensive shell, but it has been worth every penny so far. It's light enough to tour in on a chilly day and not sweat to death (plus it has pit vents - huge plus), but will keep you warm on the coldest, windiest, snowiest days. The hood fits really well over a helmet and the jacket has plenty of room for layering underneath.

I love this jacket. I'm 5'7 so the longer length is great for keeping my back and bum warm and dry. I like the long sleeves too as they fit well over my ski gloves. I like the solid Labyrinth color with the lighter zips, though this was the only color I liked from the choices. It does make it harder to spot me on the mountain but the darker color is more practical (doesn't show the dirt etc). I skied in the rain and never felt damp or cold. I wore the Cerium LT Hoody in Whisky Jack underneath and love the color combo with the Labyrinth Sentinel. First time wearing Arcteryx and I'm converted :)

I had a previous version of the sentinel in a size large but found it too big. For reference I am 5'7", 150lbs. The medium in the AR style is a perfect fit. I believe it has been updated. Its long (which was important to me) and loose enough for me to fit a warm puffy coat and other layers underneath. It perfectly attaches to my sentinel pants. My only complaint would be the powder skirt is slightly tight even when not done up. When its done up though its snug enough to keep the snow out.
I got the Awestruck colour. Its definitely more peachy in person than the orange on the website, but I've received tons of compliments. And it looks great in the backcountry and makes me easy to spot!

Love this jacket! I am 5 foot 9 and the added length in the torso is fantastic! The sleeves are a good length too! I ordered a large and I'm very happy. Also the bright colour is great. Easy for my kids to spot me on the ski hill!

LOVE this jacket. She delivers a super high performance for backcountry touring!
Pros: I put her through 60 mph winds with no issue. Didn't even feel a chill. The hood fits well over both my resort and climbing helmets, which is really pleasing. I adore how the fabric feelstough but buttery. Also, can we talk about the amazing colors?! Swoon.
Anything I would tinker with boils down to personal preference... I love an external chest pocket, for example.
Past gens of the jacket have drawn comments about fitting too tightly around the hipsgood news, friends: the designers listened, and have actually widened the circumference around the hips. I'm hippy, so I've always been reluctant to trust a slimmer fit and usually gravitate towards baggier silhouettes/larger sizes simply out of generalized anxiety on this point. But the Sentinel in a size small blew me away! I love having a spiffy, sharp fit through the torso, especially in the shoulders. It's effortless to move in. And I don't feel like I'm compromising with any tightness at all in the hips. Due to this, I actually found myself wearing the Sentinel much more throughout excursions. It may sound silly, but I am now extremely resentful about how much I've carted my old shell around the backcountry in my pack. This is a rad, all-around wonderful jacket!

I was so excited to try this coat on as I liked the style but the hips were too tight. They changed the hip sizing so the fit is much better. I was not a buyer because the color selection was poor in my opinion. I want to be seen in the backcountry, not blend in. I will wait another year to purchase and hope the colors improve.

I love the jacket itself, and it's the third Arc'teryx ski jacket I've purchased.
However, the colour is completely different than how it looks online. I wanted a navy jacket. They didn't carry the "Labyrinth" colour in store, but it looks navy so I ordered it online. However, once it arrived, I discovered the actual colour is a deep teal green and doesn't go at all with my ski pants.
So PSA - "Labyrinth" is green, not navy.
It'd be great if Arc'teryx started using descriptive colour names, rather than unrelated words that don't provide any information as to what the colour is. Or carried the full colour options in store.
