The original Brooks Addiction Walker in the suede nubuck was the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I have gone through 6 or 7 pairs of them over the years. When I recently went online to buy a new pair, I was stunned that Brooks was no longer making the original version and had replaced it with the Addiction Walker 2 model. This new Brooks Addiction Walker 2, number one, does not come in the suede nubuck so I ordered the black model. After one day I knew that Brooks had ruined the most comfortable work shoe I had ever found. These shoes are killing my feet. In short, they suck!!!!

Had to return them. Have worn Addiction Walkers for years and always wear the same size. These are a full size too small.

I was disappointed, I go thru a set of the "standard addiction walkers" about every 6 months, they were out of my size, so I ordered the #2,
they feel and look like cheap plastic, do not feel like leather. I will ask for refund.

I loved my old Addiction Walkers, I wish they would go back to the old design. The new design doesn't look as nice and the show just feels uncomfortable and firm compared to my old ones. I wore Brooks for years, please bring the old shoes back.

AW2 is enormous letdown from AW1 which I wore for years. I ordered same size as usual and the width and volume of the shoe is much greater. I walk right out of the shoe. The extra volume in the forefoot is ridiculous as is the width of the heel. I don't know if it was mis-sized or the AW2 last is vastly different but the shoe does NOT FIT. I will try narrow but am concerned about the dramatic change. It took me months to find a supportive walking shoe that accommodated my low volume foot and now I may have to start all over again. Sigh.
As far as style and quality goes, I agree with other reviewers that what used to look and feel like a quality product now looks and feels cheap and plastic, yet the price has gone up.

I am a big guy with flat feet, who spends most of my time on my feet at work. Having good pair shoes is very important to me. For years I have worn the Brooks Addiction Walkers and have absolutely loved them. They were comfortable right out of the box. My latest purchase of the Brooks Addiction Walker 2 did not provide the same comfort level. They are less forgiving on my feet than the original shoe. I wore them for a couple of hours a day for three days and each day they made my feet hurt. As a result, I have returned the Brooks Addiction Walker 2 due to the lack of comfort. They are good looking shoes that feel true to size; unfortunately, the change made in the newer version makes them uncomfortable for me!

I'm diabetic and my podriatist has prescribed these for years, I loved them but this new revision is a far cry from the qualituy of the old ones.
Old ones: thick, solid leather upper; heavy sole, stitched leather everywhere, lining from heavy cloth
New ones: feels like some melding of leather and foam rubber, sole is very light, but feels solid like standing on a plastic block, feels like stretchy material around your foot which of course provides no feeling of support like the old ones.
JUST DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A LEATHER SHOE.
Zappos is one of my top favorite 2 or 3 businesses. Customer support out of this world. I will switch back to the New Balance 883 which my podiatrist at teh Mayo prescribed years ago, but they changed so I went to Brooks, but now am going back, the Brooks feel like a stretchy foam rubber shoe.
Brooks told me they "upgraded" the shoe to be more modern in looks and styling, so as to keep their customer base. Instead they will lose it.

I have been buying the ORIGINAL Brooks Addiction Walker shoe since 2003 because I got diagnosed with tendonitis in the Patella tendon in both knees and it took me a year to find a comfortable shoe (along with doing knee stretching and going through PT) that wouldn't exacerbate it.
The original Addiction Walker was and has been my go to shoe since 2003.
I recently ordered the Addiction Walker 2 and couldn't find the original design on Zappos. I was a bit skeptical of this new design but ordered it anyways and I was right.
Now, after a week of wearing them my knee pain has once again come back after 17 or so years of having a good shoe I could rely on.
Why did they change the design such a great shoe?
I can't wear these and now have to find a new brand/shoe to wear as I don't want to be on crutches again as was the case in 2003.
I'm severely disappointed in Brooks for changing the design of this shoe.

Very disappointed in the 2nd iteration of this shoe, the originals seemed to last a good while, but I've gone through two pair of the walker 2 now, and each time the inside of the shoe is quick to wear.

The fit is fine, like the ones I have been buying for years. But the sole, especially under the heel, is very stiff like a plank, and will take some time to get used to. Brooks has lost their way on this model.

Unfortunately, not an improvement over the excellent original. Quite the opposite - Brooks have ruined the longstanding, hugely popular Addiction walker. The footbase is shorter, - toes hit the end in one's usual size. The tread that used to make the Addiction suitable for light hiking is gone - replaced by an absurdly slippery sole. The tongue feels cheap and less breathable. And all of this without mentioning the hideous aesthetic of this disappointing down-date. The original Addiction Walker was my go-to for years and years. Now must search for something else, alas.

The Addiction Walker 2 is better looking than the original (I bought both returning the latter). Stitching is more accurate (AW2 made in Vietnam and AW1 made in China). Leather on the black AW2 is nicer than the brown Nubuck on the AW1. The AW2 breathes better when walking, and has good arch support and not too soft or hard with the foam insert. The rubber sole is thick and flat, provides nice balance and does not stand out like on the brown Nubuck version.

I am not a runner. I have stage four cancer...cancer in all of my bones. I have metal rods in both legs from my hips to just above my knees. Finding the correct shoe that allows me comfort of movement is extremely important. Obviously, I have tried many different shoes of all types. This shoe allows for the support and comfort I need. It is my goal, every day, to walk 5,000 to 10,000 steps. You can name the shoe anything you want, but this shoe is PERFECT for me. I thank the manufactures!

Shoe is not the same as the previous model. I love the fact that it is non skid and the support is there however the toe box is much more narrow and the shoe does not fit true to size. My toes were bunched up at the tip of the shoe. I felt the width was off as well. I ordered a wide and the shoe fit as standard. Unfortunately for my feet, I must wear a true wide shoe that is straight last.

I followed the advice of a number of other reviewers and ordered a hqlf-size larger than usual. That was a mistake; I'll be exchanging them for the size I always bought the original Addiction Walkers in.

Excellent quality shoe for those who spend time on their feet and for those who have flat feet or issues with their arch.
I haven’t found a better shoe for working long hours. Great support and great quality.
The only issue is that they are not stylish for anyone under the age of 80!

Overall these are quality shoes, but on the other hand I’m not a fan of the style or comfort (for these specific shoes) especially given the fact that Brooks are the best brand out!! I’m a delivery driver for Amazon so comfort and durability are essential! I will say these shoes are very durable and water resistant… I tend to wear these in poor weather rain/snow! I just bought a pair of Brooks (addiction walker suede) for nicer days. If these are similar to the addiction 13’s (which I already have) I will be very happy! Nike, adidas, new balance & Reebok STAND NO CHANCE against Brooks! #BrooksBestOn TheMarket???????????

I found the Addiction 2 to be much more comfortable than the Addiction 1. Spent several month's just wearing them around the house for several hours each day before committing. I had some problems with the Addiction 1, namely the higher arch support and the tread design on the soles. Walk outdoors a lot, 5 to 8 miles a day. The higher arch support on the 1 would not allow the foot to set in the shoe in a natural position in my opinion and some calluoses developed on the outside edge of my feet. The tread design was occasionally a problem in wet weather. I don't know how the Addiction 2 will work over time, but right now they are much more comfortable than the original in my opinion. The shoe looks better too. Remember, opinions are worth exactly what you pay for them and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I had used this particular type of shoes for almost 4+ years. It comes in wide sizes, it has great padding and helps with plantar fasciitis.
But this version seems to have leather with inferior quality. The leather gave in after very short use. Even the outer leather in this model feels thinner. New version of shoe is worse than older version. I ended up buying Saucony next.

The BAW2 is one of the few shoes that really fit my wide feet and look good. The shoe is also reasonably durable and has a removable insole so that I can place a lift in one shoe that I need.

I have been wearing Addiction Walker shoes for more than ten years. Three different orthopedic surgeons have told me these were great shoes.
