These were perfect, until they developed a hole in the right toe. I'm a nurse, and walk on hard floors at the hospital. I only wore them for 12 shifts. Very disappointing! I cannot pay $169.00 plus tax for shoes that only last a month! I can't imagine that running would fair very well in these, as they didn't even hold up to walking.

I purchase two pair of new balance shoes per year. I have been a loyal customer for at least 10 years. It pains me to see and feel the decline of quality that always set new balance apart

The tongue on this shoe is really short! When laced to the top, the laces end up almost on the skin. The laces are also too short. All my sneakers are New Balance since I need support and my foot is an 11SS. These didn't work out as well as I would have hoped, but unfortunately, I didn't realize that until I had already given them a thorough break-in. They're not as comfortable as my other sneakers. I also feel too aware of them when I wear them. Expensive lesson to learn.

Shoe strings so short cannot make them loose enough to avoid the tongue rubbing the top of my foot and still tie a bow. The shoe strings are hard to thread through the eyelets. Also one is shorter than the other. What's with that? I hope I can break in the shoes enough to be able to wear on a regular basis. Shoe fits well otherwise and I like the color. I'd try another style next time.

These are built on a SL-2 last, which is a straight last with a slightly wider toe box and a slightly narrower heel. They are somewhat similar to the 840, which have similar last and appearance, but unlike the 840, they have a symetrical/even heel. The 1540s are also supposed to have a (not visible) roll bar on both the inside and the outside legnth of the shoe to provide stability to both underpronators (supinators) and overpronators. It is supposed to provide both control and cushion. (All preceding info as per NB cust. svc.) Verdict: with the wider toe box, my regular shoe size 11 would might been OK had these been a walking shoe, but for running my toes would have been hitting the edges. There is no 11.5, and I found the 12 to be a little too loose feeling, and the plastic at the base of laces (where the shoe bends when walking) dug into my toes (which the 11 did not do.) Perhaps I don't need control as much as I thought, because for me, they were not as comfotable as more flexible and cushioned models, and were therefore not worth the higher price tag. I would recommend this shoe, over other models, but only if you really need both stability and a straight last. If you overpronate, the 840 does both for cheaper.

Can't say they feel as great as my last pair, so haven't worn them outside yet. The tongue seems to rub up against the inside of my foot on top, unlike the V2's that I really have enjoyed....the tongue seems a bit longer. Another thing... I notified the company because the shoe strings are a bit too short with the inserts I have to wear, but they are sending me a longer pair...so that's great! At least they are trying to help. Still planning to keep them at this point.

I have a narrow flat foot and an over pronation problem that I’m usually trying to correct with stability shoes and/or orthotics. The New Balance 1540v3 solved the pronation problem without an orthotic, however it’s a relatively heavy shoe and quite stiff. I might have kept it except I was unable to get my heel to sit snugly. The laces were too short for me to try my usual fix with a lace lock. I’m returning the NB and keeping the Brooks Adrenaline 20. Thank you to both companies for continuing to make shoes in a narrow width despite what seems to be an avalanche of requests for wider widths.

Not sure how I'll like the new tread, maybe it will hold up better. Do not care for the annoyingly shortened tongue. Doesnt seem as comfortable.

I need shoe with good support and for over proration. This shoe is not as supportive as past 1340v2. This is the only shoe offered for last year. Need to go back to the other shoe

I bought the 1540v1 and then two successive pairs of the 1540v2. I'm still breaking in the 1540v3. They're okay so far, but my feet are more fatigued after walking than they were with the 1540v2, which were very comfortable and supported my feet well. Not sure why the difference. Am hoping that will change the more I wear them because the 1540 shoe has worked well for my plantar fasciitis issues and I walk a lot.

the support is good but they feel clumsy and too large. Though, they're not large enough to try another size.Unfortunately I walked with them outside so i can't return them, but walking is too much effort in these shoes and i just want to change back to my Brooks sneakers now. It may not be the style. I've had this problem with previous versions. the New Balance sizes are not uniform. Sometimes it fits right and sometimes it doesn't in the same size. I've wasted a lot of money on shoes that don't fit until I find one, in the same size, that does. . There are few choices if you have a wide fit and need a motion control shoe. But this particular pair of 1540vs sucks.

I ordered 8 1/2W, my recommended size was 9. There is too much space between my toe and the tip of the shoes. I will return and order 8W.

I originally ordered 8 1/2 W, my recommended size was 9. I have wide feet, so I order 8 1/2 for the width rather than the length of shoes. I reordered 8W because there was too much space between my toes and the tip of the shoe. The toe part of the shoes felt heavy, sought of like if I have on flippers. Also on the picture the trim on the shoe appears to be gray, but its actually more blue color. Other than that, the shoes were comfortable. I'm just a hard fit for shoes( no arch, plantar fasciitis etc.). I've worn sketchers shape ups for years, since they no longer make those it's been a challenge to find a good fit. I'm ordering the MBT Colorado since the sole is similar to sketchers shapeups. Unfortunately I have to return, but the shoes would probably work for someone without so many foot issues.

Stiff and heavy. they felt good when I first tried them on and wore them around the house. Color and overall quality appear good, but at the laces where they are tied they dig into my feet and hurt. I was really surprised since this a brand that I am often happy with.

I am rather dissapointed with these shoes. Although they are wide enough, they seem to be very long and the sole is stiff. They are difficult to walk in as they do not bend and conform to my feet. For the price of the shoes, I would think they would be more flexible and adapt to my feet better. I am afraid of falling while I am walking in these shoes.

The fit and size are fine, although they feel uncomfortable at the top of the shoe where they are tied. The shoes are still stiff and uncomfortable even after a few months. They look brand new because they basically are. I rotate old shoes in regularly since my feet hurt when I wear them more than two days in a row. I've been wearing running shoes most days for several years including this brand, but unless you want your running shoes to feel like work boots stay away from these!

This style has been my favorite for years. Sadly, it has become worse in quality and for the first time ever, I had to return a New Balance tennis shoe. The foot bed is half as cushioned as the previous years and the arch support is barely there. Feels like cardboard instead of walking on air.

Did not have any inner support for over pronation like the at all, like the 940v which was out of stock at the time. Extremely disappointed with this nb, compared to the style I usually get, that does work for over pronations

I'm true 6.5 w and I order this shoes because I over pronate but the arch is hitting me a little too much. I WAS WONDERING IF i remove the insert and use my own I have flat feet I don't like when I Can feel my arch getting hit by the side of my shoes and also to big 1/2 i alwayway purchase 6.5 w at asic or hooka I LOVE that this made in USA but pls it's annoying to have something in my arch all time its uncomfortable. I wanted to buy the 6 w and see if it's better and I will re-review this and hopefully it would be a bettef fit.
