So this is my followup to my glowing initial review...having had a chance to test this out in my home for an hour or so, I regretfully decided to return these because the arch support was too aggressive for my lower arch. Some observations: I think if you have a high arch these would be great for you. The top strap was also overly generous for my lower-volume foot but if your arch is high (or you have higher-volume feet) this strap might have enough "play". I also found that while I love the leather footbed, it was almost too slick (I think I prefer a sueded one) and needed more padding for my aging soles. Sigh...too bad since this is a beautifully constructed sandal.

Beautiful sandals and so well made. They look stylish also. The fit for me though was just off. The back strap is not adjustable and was too large for my ankle. Both the toe and mid foot strap were too long for me as well. I think my foot was just too" low volume" for this lovely sandal. Thank you Zappos for your great customer service and excellent sandal offerings.

I was actually looking to replace a pair of well-loved and well-work Ecco Yucatans which I have now owned or 6 years but they are beginning to break down. Interestingly I came across this, my first Gentle Souls. Like those original Eccos of mine, these seem a bit pricey but I have difficult feet to fit these days as they have gotten wider and flatter and are more prone to plantar issues. The little toe on one foot now tends to splay out a bit requiring a wider toe box. I was drawn to the design of the straps of this particular sandal; they looked like they would be fairly forgiving of my wedge-shaped feet and might even work with my narrow heels. There were no reviews when I ordered the size 7 recommended by Zappos. I now have 7.5M-W size feet and the size 7 did not have enough "play" in the length of the sole to fit my feet. Thanks to Zappos' amazing service, a size 8 (no 7.5 was available and from the feel of the 7, I guessed I might need a whole size up) arrived the next day. The 8 was way too big but loved the softness of the leather straps and insole and the firmness of the sole (great for plantar). I persisted and Zappos hung in there with me. I now found a 7.5M available but the price had gone up. Customer Service rep, Jasmine, was great and offered me the original price, with the new size arriving again on the next day!!!! Now that I have the correct size, I can attest to the fact that these run true to length, have good arch support (the strap over the arch can be adjusted to hug your arch more), and have decent heel support (although I miss the adjustable heel strap that my Eccos offered). The look of this minimalist sandal is great and it is beautifully crafted. If you have low- to mid-volume, medium-size feet that need some pampering, these will work for you!

These sandals will be great for travel with a lot of walking. Adjustable straps for a just right fit. They fit true to size like my other Gentle Souls.
