Customer Reviews O'Neill 21" Santa Cruz Scallop 2.0 Boardshorts

I run a solid 34” waist on pretty much every brand of pants/shorts I own, occasionally a 33”. For heckin’ sake, I have a different pair of O’Neil standard shorts that fit fine. So I was pretty confident when I went with the 34” on these rascals. Imagine my surprise when they were SUPER tight. Not “suck in my respectable beer gut and they’d be good”; like, I couldn’t get them past my hips. Not sure if someone was asleep at the tape measure coming out of the mill, and I just got a rare misfitting pair. But I’m afraid I’m gun shy to try a second time. So I’m going to say to order up a good 2” above your normal size, say a little prayer and see what you get. Giving it an extra star for “overall” because of Zappos easy-peasy, no hassle return policy.

Not sure what they’re talking about re: stretch, as these do nothing of the sort. I would not recommend these

These might run a tad small. My son wears between a 36 and 34 inch waist and went with the 36”. It sits comfortably and doesn’t ride down. The length is good for his long legs (6’3”). The colors/pattern is a nice traditional neutral style for these board shorts. We’d recommend & buy again.

Had to return and re-order 2" bigger than my usual size. But nice shorts -- and helpful that these ones have a little flexibility in the waist size, unlike my previous O'Neill boardshorts.

The waist fit true to size. There is no elastic band in the waist, so order accordingly. I wear 32 in jeans and the 32 fit me fine. I would say they are a tad more form fitting that some of my other board shorts. I felt they were comfortable to wear and the patter looks great in person!
