I love this boot, but because it is true to size, it doesn't fit. They didn't have my size so I purchased a half size larger hoping it would work. Unfortunately I have to return this one.

Sturdy, elegant and made with quality materials. I found the toe area too narrow (pointy) so I returned them, unfortunately.

The reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is the pointy toe, which serves no purpose that I can tell except to potentially cause me to trip going up steps, and aesthetically, I don't like it. But that's just my taste, and otherwise, I really like these.
My feet are old and have been through a lot, and the sole is cushy enough to stay comfortable all day. I have a pair in brown, and, a half-size smaller, a pair in black. The black pair seems to have a rougher gusset behind the tongue that rubbed for a couple of days, but it subsided.
I have a wide-ish forefoot (bunions, but not bad ones), and the larger size accommodates them just fine, though the rest of my foot slops around a bit. I wear the smaller size with thinner socks and the larger size with thicker socks, and both scenarios work. I treated them with mink oil and have worn them through wet muck with no problem. They are versatile! With the muck cleaned off, they look pretty dressy except for the multi-colored heel, which is another aesthetic I could do without, but it's not a big deal.

These would have been very comfortable if the top stitching at the beginning of the tongue near the toe box was a little wider to allow more room on the top of the foot. I didn't foresee this part of the boot stretching or breaking in. Sadly had to return them.

Great sale price on these boots; however, they squeak every step I take. Since I've already worn them, I'm going to use some leather product on them to see if it will stop. Ironically, another pair of Ariat work boots that I got two years ago squeak also. The laces are never long enough so I replaced them. I've always been a big fan of Ariat boots. They're a bit snug in the instep but have improved as I have worn them.

Love these boots. Fit was perfect. Now to get a pair of black ones.

These are so pretty and definitely seem like they'll hold up well working around the farm, but the first week wearing them was incredibly painful. Plenty of room in the foot and toe area and decent arch support, but the ankle/heel sort of dips in in sich a way that puts so much pressure right where blisters are prone to forming from any stiff new shoes . Wear blister pads before trying to break them in!

They felt supportive and cushioned and well made - just two narrow on one foot only ! I think I have a bone spur along the side of one foot that makes a good fit hard - I tried the heritage paddock in a wide but that was too wide - back to the drawing board -

The Performer Nitro paddock boot is a well made boot. It is quite comfortable -- leather is a bit stiff - but of good quality. Provides good foot support.
I still compare it to the original Cobalt boot which was a fantastic boot. The Nitro only has 2 speed laces and does not come up as high as the Cobalt with 3 speed laces - I do not get the ankle support with the Nitro that I had with the Cobalt. And the Nitro rubs my legs/socks as the speed lacing does not tighten as much as I would like. The Cobalt was also very comfortable from day 2 and I could spend all day in them ( I did own pro 4 pair over the years they were available). The Nitro are not yet comfortable for teaching in and walking around in - 2 months usage.
I do have very skinny legs and miss the support from the Cobalt. Meanwhile the Nitro is much better quality and support than other boots available at this time.

These are my second set of Ariat Paddock boots. These fit better than the last pair. They are more form fitting and hold my foot nicely. I haven't tried them out in the saddle yet, so I can't speak for how well they feel in my irons; however, I've worn them around the house and they are comfortable with good support. Added bonus, they are very pretty. I like the deep rich brown color.

I bought a pair of these in January of last year for a job I started in February. I'm on my feet on various hard surfaces (concrete, cement, gravel) all day long and these (with a dr scholls float-on-air insole) keep my feet from hurting at all by the end of the day. In other boots, I can barely walk after one hour. I had to have the stitching on the outside of the toebox of the left boot repaired after 6 months. Last week, after a year of wearing them 5 or more days a week, I had to have the stitching on the outside of the toebox of the right boot repaired. Per other reviews, this seems to be a VERY common issue in these boots.
These are so good for my feet that I bought a second pair (zip version, the lace version was not available in my size at my local store) so I could keep my feet happy while getting the second boot repaired. I decided to go ahead and proactively get the stitching reinforced on the new pair (now that I have the old pair back to work in) so that I can hopefully avoid the issue in the future.
PLEASE MAKE THESE IN WIDE and PLEASE use better thread for the toe box stitching.

If you are putting a lot of hours in these boots then you have chosen well!
They are comfortable to stand in for long hours and as well to ride in with a pair of half chaps to complete them!
My only concern with them is the material used to line them. It has a tendency to get dry rotted.
Even before the boot is very worn (and I guess this is due to the lining material not holding up to sweat), I've had to replace my boots because the lining cracks and becomes very uncomfortable against my skin/ ankles!

The brown leather is beautiful. However, the light gray rubber on the heel detracts from the overall look, giving it a weird, cheap running shoe look. It really should have been a solid black heel.

I love the look, feel, and fit of these boots. They're true to size, beautiful, and comfortable. However, I am super disappointed in the quality. After wearing these boots daily for about two months, a lot of the stitching is already coming undone and the tongue is wearing from the laces.

I have had 2 or 3 pairs of these boots now and I am on this site today looking for an alternative. One pair came unstitched on the side of the toe cap after 1 or 2 years, so I bought a 1/2 size up, and that pair had the same thing happen within 6 months. Ariat's quality has decreased so much in the last 15 years. The thread is so thin that it just rips through the leather. I bought these for the stiffer leather upper and the extra room in the toe box, but I think they are too stiff and lack the cushioning I need.

...I wish I could give them a better review.
Because the Heritage IV was discontinued, I wanted to find an affordable alternative. I love my VentTEK boots for work, but the forefoot is too bulky for someone used to a traditional English boot--at least that's my experience.
When Ariat has these in my size at a great price, I took a chance, persuaded by the structure of the sole and the full leather lining.
First the ugly: the liner of the left boot needed to be trimmed (see picture) which I didn't notice until I had pain on the top of my foot during a break in walk. But the worst thing is the heel counters. They are too thick, stiff, and not properly beveled. I used a bone burnishing tool to break the edge, but this should not be necessary. They are not high enough, and hit at the boney process of the inner heel.
They will do, but it will take some time. Maybe the out of the box comfort of the VentTEK line has spoiled me, and these issues might not affect someone with a different foot structure.

These boots are gorgeous and clearly well made. Unfortunately, they are also quite stiff and were hard to get on. I need something that's easy to get on my feet. I may try another style.

A beautiful boot, but not nearly as comfortable as previous ones I've purchased. Stiffer and uncomfortable in the upper part. Hoping they will break in and be as comfortable as I expected from past experience.

The boots are only under warranty for a year after purchase. My last paddock boots - same style - cracked (on both boots) near the ball of your foot - on both sides.

I wish I could say I like them but I don't. They are stiff and not at all like previous Ariat lace up paddock boots.

I purchased these paddock boots in mid-May, and within just a few months the heels on both have already started coming off. I'm shocked and disappointed, especially because my last pair of Ariat paddock boots lasted me over 20 years. I expected the same durability and craftsmanship, but unfortunately, the quality seems to have gone downhill. For the price point and Ariat's reputation, I had hoped for a much longer lifespan. Sadly, I'm already having to replace them.

These boots are so uncomfortable even after owning them for over a year. Honestly if I could return them and get my money back, I would. They are so squeaky and make noises with every step and move. With the suppose "better" leather/ quality these are absolutely terrible boots. I will be looking else where for better QUALITY paddock boots.

While I know it takes time for shoes to break in, I purchased my nitro waxed brown paddock boots about 4-5 weeks ago. I've worn them 3 times a week and am still getting severe blisteres on back of my left heel. Im having to wear a silicone blister bandaid in order to get through the day at the barn. Right foot is just fine.
