Gorgeous! I love that Red Wing's women's chelsea has the two-tone color detail around the stitching on the black leather pair. It really gives these boots a more high end, craftsman look. I am typically an 8.5-9, normal width, and the 9 in these are snug - as RW's should be at first. Some rubbing on the back of my heel the first day or two - but wearing them around with thick wool socks is the ticket! No pain. I have very high arches (ex dancer feet) which can sometimes make pulling on boots difficult, but was pleasantly surprised at how much stretch these gave when sliding on. I also LOVE how slim fit these look around the ankle, vs. a looser upper that some chelsea's or pull ons have - like the doc martens flora for example, which I also bought to try. Also in comparison to the doc marten flora: those felt much flatter straight out of the box (but again, i have high arches), and their welt protruded much more - which some prefer - just a style choice. But these RW's are also double the price :) There is one visible raised vein in the leather, but definitely not worth exchanging for me. And I only noticed because I was looking so up close for any small defects (thanks to the 'goodyearwelt' subreddit for that). Can't wait to see how these age!

I was SO excited about ordering these, and was not disappointed when they arrived. They slid on my size 7.5-8 feet with no issue, and fit like a dream. After breaking them in over a few wears they literally fit perfectly, and I’ve received so many compliments. Great buy!

Gorgeous boots out of the box, well built and clearly high quality, but incredibly small. I could barely put them on with think socks, I couldn't imagine these even going on my foot with thick socks. They felt long and narrow. The leather is very stiff, I would expect a pretty significant break-in time.

Beautyful and rugged. But super narrow and stiff. Can’t see that these will ever form to a foot with wear.

I LOVE these boots. Red Wing are known for quality and these feel absolutely solid, as expected. Some reviews say these seem to run narrow, but I didn't have a problem with the width despite having medium-wide feet- I'm usually a 8.5-9 and the 9 in these feels perfect. They are ever so slightly tight right out of the box, but I know they'll break in to be just right and they are actually more comfortable out of the box than expected. I didn't have any problem with on/off and I LOVE that these have a grippy rubber tread (rainy PNW winters...), but still look super polished. These are quickly going to become my go-everywhere, everyday boot and I expect they'll last years, so they're absolutely worth the investment IMO.

Excellent quality, surprisingly versatile boot. I originally bought these a year ago for rainy season office wear and city walking, and found they fit true to size and were easy to break in. However they really proved their value recently when I unexpectedly spent a couple of weeks in a wet and rugged environment. I walked through deep mud puddles, wet grass, and running water and my feet stayed completely warm and dry throughout. No problems with traction on rocky or slippery surfaces either. Better performance than some purpose-built trail/hiking shoes I've had in the past and well worth the money.

Absolutely fantastic, universal boot. VERY comfortable for work or walking. Looks great dressed up (ish) or down. And I stepped in a puddle to my ankle today and never felt moisture. No break in required despite a ton of walking the first day. Which was surprising given how snug it fits. One important thing: I have a very narrow foot but if you do not, I'd maybe size up 1/2 size

I liked these so much when I saw them, but my size wasn't available. I thought maybe the next size up would work because some reviewers said it was a little snug for them. Alas, it seemed pretty true to size to me and my feet were swimming in them. But the look is terrific, the styling is exceptionally fine, and I would recommend them to anyone who can find a size that fits!

beautiful thick smooth leather, nice chunky sole, made in the USA... sadly, the round toe still felt tight in the correct size, and one half-size up felt enormous. ( I have very long toes...) anyway, if they fit you, you will love!

Good-looking boot made of nice leather but were tight on my feet and ankles. Sadly had to return.

I have been wanting a pair of chelsea boots for some time, and I had my heart set on these because Red Wing will last if I take care of them, and will be waterproof. I am usually an 8.5/39 and I ordered an 8.5 and a 9. I tried them on with thin no show flats socks, regular socks, REI ankle wool socks, and medium smartwool socks. The 8.5 made my foot hurt so badly, and even fall asleep. They seemed like the right size, and I put them on and sat on the couch for a bit for the leather to warm up before I stood up. There was still enough room for the width of my thumb or more at the toe. I think the width was just too narrow. Other than that the 8.5 would have been great. The 9s fit with all socks whereas the 8.5 didn't work with the smartwool and was certainly too tight with either pair of wool socks. The 9s just looked and felt huge, being at least 1.5"+ past my big toe and the footbed just didn't feel like it was right. I wanted these to work so badly, I think the 8.5 is right (so true to size) but being that it made my foot seize up (and even made my knee start to hurt, what??) I'm going to have to look elsewhere, perhaps the mens Red Wing chelsea will work but the bottoms of the mens aren't the same black colorway right now. I love leather boots and have many pairs from different brands, I know the leather will stretch and mold to my foot but with how the 8.5s wreaked havoc on my foot after just a few minutes on, I have no idea how I'd get past the break in period. The 9s I imagine would be way too loose after the break in period. Reminds me of how the Acne Jensen just does not work for me but it wasn't as immediately painful as the Red Wings.

This boot is lovely but the ankle opening is ridiculously small rendering the boot very difficult to put on. Loved the look but sent them back.

These are absolutely beautiful. They are tight at first but they should fit like a glove once they break in. I ordered one color at a nice discount and there was an issue with the order so they let me have the black for the same discount. I'm beyond thrilled with them. This is super high quality leather and the boots are so supportive.

Outstanding boots. I worried about spending this much money on them, but they are super comfortable and have held up well so far.

These are worth a try - not quite what I want right now, but very impressive. Lots of support in the footbed, very comfortable, quality materials. This style might run a bit large-they seem bigger than another pair in the "same" size.

They are pricey, but they are really attractive and comfortable. I hope they last well, because I am going to wear them every day.

This boot felt narrow and tight across the top. It was difficult to get on/off due to the tightness across the top. The leather and overall quality of the boot is great.

Loved the boot but the width was incredibly narrow in the toe box. I even went out and purchased 4 different pairs of socks to try, walked around my house praying each pair of socks might make a difference because I know they would eventually stretch out but the thought of having blisters, from the breaking in period didn't seem appealing. Really dissappointing as the boot is gorgeous.

These boots are the most beautiful, well-made, quality leather boots I have ever had. I ordered a size up as other reviewers mentioned, but I think normal size could have been fine once they break in. The shape of the boot was a bit odd for me to handle though and it changed my walk--it kind of slopes up at the toe so I felt like I was rocking. I imagine if you've had cowboy boots you might be used to this. Unfortunately it's a bit odd for my gait and I am returning. I am bummed though, because they are gorgeous and would last forever!

Weird fit, not the most comfortable. Beautifully made but ended up returning them.
