I have fallen in love with Osprey packs. They look amazing, they are comfortable and easy to adjust. It has lots of little compartments and it's lightweight. Will definately be sticking with this brand.

Great pack, lightweight, comfortable hiking or running, durable, just the right number of pockets and accessible pouches. It is my go to pack, I love it!

Great pack that needs small improvements. The attachment system works great for an ice axe but is mediocre for hiking poles. No way to store both at the same time. The pocket on the chest strap or the hip pockets need to be large enough to store a call phone. Love the helmet attachment system.

This is my third Osprey pack -- I was completely sold after moving from Lowe Alpine to my first multi-day backpacking pack with the Atmos AG 65. The fit is second to none. My Kestrel 32 is the perfect over night bag for short trips, or if I'm carrying all the gear for a couple folks on a long day hike. My new Talon 22 seems like th eperfect little borther to my Kestrel and will do nicely for day hikes and bike commuting to work. I was a little baffled by a construction issue (the reason for the 4 stars) -- the compression strap on the left side exterior bottle pocket was assembled in the inside of the pocket, rather than the outside (see image). It's a minor QC issue that I was able to solve on my own by pulling the strap out of the buckle with a pair of needle nose pliers and rerunning it correctly. This will be my primary day back for a week in Arches and Canyonlands NP, and I may update this review after.

2017 Osprey Talon Med/Lg (22L): This is the best pack that I have ever owned. It has ample volume for a day hike, even in winter. Previous packs that I have used had several separate compartments, which seemed like an attractive feature at the time, but the single compartment in the Talon allows for much more efficient packing (smaller items can be organized in see-through bags). The stow-on-the-go attachments for hiking poles function perfectly while hiking and the elastic loops on the shoulder straps accommodate a hydration tube, nicely. Best of all, is the suspension system- the pack feels like it's glued to your back when the hip belt is snug. It also effectively transfers part of the load to your hips. For scrambling or cross country skiing, this will make a huge difference. So why do I only give it 4 stars- because nowhere on the website or the information that comes with the pack does it inform you that the suspension system is adjustable! The ability to adjust the distance between the shoulder straps and the hip belt allows a near perfect fit and this is not a common feature that in day-packs. While the Osprey website provides a procedure for selecting the size of the pack, it did not work well for me. The torso length that I measured was 17" and I ordered the wrong size (Sm/Md)- I am 6' tall and the Med/Lg is perfect. The site also lists the maximum hip size22L as 50"- I have a 37" waist and there is only about 5" of strap remaining when the hip belt is snug. The Osprey sales team should fix this.

Too many zippers. Within less than a year, the main-compartment zippers of this pack got jammed and destroyed. I find a drawstring bag more convenient to use in fast-paced situations or when I only have one hand free. Luckily, Osprey will repair it but I'll still be wary about using those zippers 'cause the fabric is thin and slippery and catches very easily on the zipper pulls. I also find the thin nylon ribbon hangup hook thing at the top of the pack to be uncomfortable and rope-burn like when I need to grab the bag with one hand when it's carrying 20 lbs of gear. Not sure why that part of the pack is just a bare bones, unpadded ribbon.

This is a terrific pack going up the mountain for a day and then back. The main zipper, however, got repeatedly caught in the supporting material and then finally one day, it got so stuck the only way was to pull on it and of course, it broke. Had to mail it to Cortez for repairs... Not great considering I had the pack for under a year. Have had others for three decades that never happened to. Please address at quality control, guys.

Love the comfort of this bag! am 5'4" and 125 lbs and a s/m is the perfect fit. I love the way the shoulder straps fit-they hold the bag close without confining. For fit and comfort--can't be beat. My negatives might be considered minor BUT has stopped me from purchasing. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get rid of the big talon design on the sides. The Osprey logo is enough and would prefer a simple design vs. large talon/flames/curves on the sides. The other bit of feedback, the hip pockets are nice but would prefer same material as the pack vs. see through mesh for security, as well as durability. And would be nice if those pockets were elongated a bit more to come forward - would hold slight bit more and be easier to access.

I like the style, design and weight of the pack, but I'm sorely disappointed with the quality. The mesh material on the back is completely falling apart with several holes in it. The mesh on the hipbelt compartments are also falling apart. I've only used the pack for 2 seasons and expected it to hold up much better.

My Talon 22 is a good, comfortable fit and gets regular use over 2 years. But the main compartment zipper jams repeatedly in the flimsy narrow covering flap. This continues to be a problem even with close attention during use. A layer of duct tape stiffens the flap and prevents jamming but looks ugly and requires frequent renewal, leaving adhesive to catch dirt. How this problem evaded you during development testing is beyond me. I suspect that you modified the flap later in production. If so I would request an upgrade.

Use as a day pack for hiking and scrambling. Have had for 1year. Very impressed with functionality of design layout. Have used berghaus and deuter packs in past. We are a family and have about 7 packs of various brands and styles The material on talon osprey has worn through hole on bottom. Now has an abrasion hole in bottom. No other pack I have ever used has worn out so quickly. Disappointing. Material just too thin.
