These are my favorite shoes! I purchased them from my local Red Wing Shoes store because Zappos was out of stock and to shop local. After the initial break in period, they fit like a glove and are so comfortable. Ever since I bought them, they've been my go-to shoe. The stacked leather heel adds style and a bit of height without feeling like a heel. The rubber sole provides exactly the kind of traction I was looking for in a black leather boot. Plus, if it wears down, it can be resoled. Extra bonus: the red wing store will clean and condition shoes in their Heritage collection for free for life! More about the break in period: buy these shoes true to your size. They will feel tight/narrow at first, but the leather will stretch out in just a few days! I wore these shoes around the house for the first full day with a pair of wool socks. **I highly suggest thicker socks for the break in.** Day two, I brought them to my work, where I mostly sit at a desk, but brought a backup pair of flats just in case. I changed into my flats for the last 2 hours of the day before changing back into my boots to drive home (there's snow where I live). I kept them on even in my house and only took them off before bed. By that time, I could already feel a big difference in how the leather stretched out to form to my foot. By day 3 the shoes were completely comfortable to wear. I wore these a lot the first two days so I'd anticipate 4-5 days for a typical break in period.

I first tried these on with a light cotton sock. These boots didn't strangle my foot, heel height is comfortable, arch support is adequate and somewhat little to no struggle putting them on. You really do need to break them in before long time wear. I was surprised how quickly I did break them in (first day: on and off for 30min to 1hr intervals, second day: 10 hours constant wear). The boots feel and look sturdy, I'm worried about what other's are saying about the heel wearing out, but we'll see.

I bought these in the Pecan Boundary leather- gorgeous color. Overall I cannot say enough good things about these boots. The leather is thick and supple and does take some breaking in. The soles are very comfortable- especially for the heel height- and the stacked leather of the heels makes a wonderful difference in comfort. I can honestly say that these are the go-to boots I've been looking for for YEARS and complete many outfits. A subtle retro flair, flattering and comfortable heel height- and excellent quality that I'm planning on enjoying for many years.

Wear a size 7 and the 6.5 fits perfectly. They run about a 1/2 size large like most leather boots. The stitching and leather were as expected for a boot in this price range. Would buy again.

These boots are the best! The size is true, they are padded and comfortable and it barely feels like it has a heel. They do require a bit of breaking in, but I can tell by the quality that theses boots will last me a long time. For reference, I’ve always bought Frye boots, and I have to say, these might just be better! Worth the money in my opinion.

These are the exact boots I've been looking for. I need a pair of black ankle boots that I don't have to tie--with a heel over 1 " but no more than 2"--with a bitchen' sole like Vibram but stylish--that I can wear in the RAIN and SLOP and MUD with dresses or pants or whatever. I just want one pair of boots to do it all, and these are them.

I wear between a 7.5 and 8 – my Frye boots are 8s, my old Dansko boots were 7.5, for example. I have narrow feet and high arches/insteps. I first purchased the 8s and they were much too big; my heels couldn't stay in place for anything. I exchanged them for the 7.5s and while these are quite stiff and have the signature Red Wing break-in going on (though not as bad as some of their styles!) they're gorgeous and definitely will fit like a glove.

Size seemed great except for the width. I have a wide foot and these were way to tight. I wear a size 8 or 8.5 so opted for the 8.5 based on reviews and hoping that it would accommodate a wider foot but unfortunately still too narrow. The length was great so don't think sizing up to a 9 would work. The boots were great looking, nice leather and workmanship. Definitely stiff but I am sure would've been comfortable once broken in. Was tempted to try to break them in and see if that would correct the width, but they were too tight and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have given that much. Really liked them, sorry to have had to send them back.

These were bigger and clunkier than I expected, and also - HEAVIER. They made me feel like I had hooves instead of feet.

Cute boot, but did not fit in all the necessary places for my short wide foot. Bought a 1/2 size up and was narrow in toe area and had a short, funky foot feel. Did not think they would get comfortable with wearing. Maybe for a slim foot. But it was a cute boot.

I am consistently a 7.5 and these fit with thin socks. If I had winter socks or cotton socks, these would not fit. I really like them, but they developed, after 3 months of occasional use, a clicking sound. With every step they would make a loud click. I contacted Red Wing customer service via e-mail asking "will you make this right" I have never heard from them. Additionally, I only wear them inside for most of the day, exception is walking to and from vehicle, they are already pretty scuffed up. I would not recommend them, I intentional purchased them because they were made in the U.S. I didn't pay over $300.00 to have them fail at 3 months and no response from the company. Will never purchase Red Wing again, Thanks Red Wing for an inferior product.

Love the color pairing of black upper with mahogany heel!

I love the look of these boots. They go great with skirts and dresses as well as jeans. I was able to walk 2 miles on them on first wear and they’re constructed in a way where I never feel unstable even though they have a considerable heel. I did use my shoe stretcher for these, as the top grain leather is super stiff. I’m very happy with these boots.

Really cute boot - Was hard for me to just slip on, leather sturdy and I did not want the daily struggle to get into the boot

Not quite my style and requires breaking in

These are beautiful boots but the pair I got had leather bottomed soles, not lug soles as described. Also not shipped in cloth bags the way other Red Wing boots have been. Fakes perhaps? Sending them back.

I liked the style of these enough to try sizing up when my usual size 9 was too small. The 9.5 was better but still too narrow.
