The velcro flap split in half after a few days of wear. I do not recommend New Balance shoes for children. The same thing happened to my son's big kid New Balance shoes. Except his have holes in various places after only a few weeks of wear.

Horrible Shoe. Sadly, there's a little extra tab on the heel that rubs against my daughter's ankle / heel. she's worn them twice. got blisters.
