My son has usually gone with medium width. We ended up returning for wide which fit great. Like that New Balance does have a lot of wide options for our other son and that they have manufacturing in the US. This pair was made in Vietnam.

Great shoe for Kindergartener

Bought these for my teenage son who has fine motor skills issues. He says they're comfortable and he appreciates the velcro closure. He wears them mainly for PE class and other exercise activities, though occasionally he'll wear them for short errands as well.

These shoes are very durable for a little boy who loves to plan and has great support! He loves these shoes so much this is our 3rd time buying them!

The size and style look good and are true to size. Unfortunately the velcro band is very thick and my son says makes the shoe uncomfortable. It is slightly better when he wears a thicker sock but still not as comfortable as his other new balance shoes (which he loves so much, wears all of the time, and now have a hole).

My son has an avg foot size (size 11 for 5 year old). He has complained the top part of the shoe (where the laces are) is too tight. The laces cannot be loosened/tightened. The shoes are also a wee bit hard to get the foot into. The sole is great. Rubber, with great grip. Overall the shoe looks great, but we likely will return due to the pain complaints from my son.

My son started wearing these shoes on Monday to school. But Tuesday afternoon they looked like this. What a let down. He was so happy with his new red shoes. I never experienced an issue like this with new balance.
