I have been buying the Nike Free for several years to wear to the gym. I have always enjoyed their minimalist style, comfort, and functionality. However, this new design is not great. They fit very snug, as mentioned in other reviews. Normally that would not bother me, but this caused me so much pain by the end of my treadmill workout run. An area at the end of the laces pinched my foot so badly that the shoe is now permanently stained with my blood. I’m so disappointed in these. And more disappointed that I cannot wear them even just to walk around in.

Right shoe fit well; left side too tight. Sadly, returned.

The fit is fine for walking around, but the feel when running is a step back in quality and durability from previous versions.

Good, but only giving 2 stars bc after running in these shoe a couple times, the sole peeled right away from the fabric in the middle of the shoe. In the first week of wearing. Do not recommend buying. BUT called Zappos and they offered to swap, but then the shoe size was out of stock. So, they issued me a refund. Great customer service and we’ll be using that refund to buy a different running shoe from Zappos, again!!

The previous review that said these felt like cheap water shoes was spot on. Very plastic feeling. I thought they were kinda ugly but I didn’t care because I generally like Nike Free. They didn’t have that hug your foot feel that I’m used to. Sent them back.

Really was hopeful for this shoe, But unfortunately had to return. While the shoe fit true to size length, the ‘opening’ where the top of the foot sits is EXTREMELY tight and narrow and very uncomfortable after a few minutes.
So unlike my current free run Nike shoes.
Very disappointed

Nike Free have been my go to shoe for along time. No longer! They have ruined them. They once were a very comfortable shoe, this new style (2019 rn) is awful, the shoe is stiff and uncomfortable. They make you feel like you are walking in wooden shoes.

I used to wear the Free RN 2018 and loved them. (I bought 3 pairs of them!) Unfortunately, Nike decided to change their Free RN line to the Free RN 5.0. These are the most uncomfortable pair of shoes. With my Free RN 2018, I used to just get the new pair and go running right away with them- no breaking in necessary. I put these on and started walking down the hall out the door to go for a run, and had to turn around and take them off. Very uncomfortable.

I've been buying Nike Free RN 5.0 for years; this incarnation was a complete revision: very hard to get on (even though I got a size up) a bulky-wavey-odd sole, very thin fabric on top, lacing almost useless because of the tightness of the fit, and bunion-unfriendly rubber lace mechanism. I wanted to like them, and because of the 30-day running shoe deal tried wearing them on a long walk - by the end, they were so painful I had to switch shoes and I returned them. My last pair, the 2018 version was comfortable but the back of the sole started imploding from ordinary daily wear after 6 months.

I liked last years model better much wider toe box and more cushion. This shoe is too narrow for me and is not as comfortable.

I wish Nike would stop redesigning this shoe. This version is definitely not the best. They have a tight, non-flexible top toe area that is so tight that my toenails ache. The previous versions were so much better. These shoes also increasingly wear out faster. Originally they would last about 300 miles, I barely got 200 out of the last pair before I could tell it was time for a new pair. But hey...they look nice.

these run small and tight. you definitely cannot wear socks with them, which is fine if you don't want to wear socks when running. i like to wear socks when running, so these were not for me. they are thin and light, which is nice, but they feel very bouncy and weird on the bottom. i imagine they would take some getting used to. i ran in them twice, with no socks, and did not want to take the time to get used to them, so i returned them for a more traditional running shoe. my guess is that if you are used to a shoe that is very thin and light like a vibram five finger or something like that, these would be fine for you. i'm just not into that type of running shoe.

I've been wearing Nike FR for many years. These are a very different fit than all my other Free Runs. It was difficult to get my foot in the shoe, and once on, the fit was weird (don't know how else to describe it). It was not comfortable for me at all. I really liked the color combo and they look great, but they did not fit me and I had to return them.

I wanted to love these shoes. I love the colors, and they are not a clone of every other shoe. What I found:
Positives:
* color choices (teal and yellow are both beautiful)
* almost true sizing
Negatives:
*My right toe is slightly larger, so it didn't fit inside the shoe. Size 8.5 is what I normally wear; but when I sized up for the larger toe, the shoe was a boat. A full thumb larger in back and front.
* The upper is not flexible in the least
* The bottom feels like hard plastic. It flexes, but is hard as a rock on your bottom sole.
* The side seams dig into my feet, and they are not wide feet. I wear normal, or B width.
I also tried the Free RN flyknit 3.0, and had the same problems.

Nike shouldn’t have messed with a good thing. I have a high instep and getting rid of the tongue means I can’t wear these anymore. Bummed and now searching for older versions of the shoe that I love.

This is an ugly shoe as well as uncomfortably tight. I used to love the Nike Free shoe and have bought several pairs but not for a few years. The tongue of this shoe is sewn to the sides for some reason so you have to pull it on like a tight sock. Altogether it is a little tight for the size, but having the part over the instep sewn rather than adjustable with the laces is ridiculous. In addition, the shoe has a bright white sole that protrudes from the body of the shoe, in particular in a strange shape at the heel. Ugly, but especially if you have large feet like I do and like dark colored, streamlined shoes.

I do not like how the heal has the extra strap, it pushes my foot forward while running. Missing my Nike frees from the past years. They shouldnt have messed with a great shoe. Im still searching for a shoe to replace it.

Very tight fitting shoe. Really difficult to put on since there's no tongue. I used to love Nike Free but they just don't work for me anymore. Feels a whole size smaller compared to Adidas and Reebok.

These shoes were the right size but almost impossible to get on without a shoehorn, no place to grab the back and you can't unlace it enough. I couldn't go through that every time I put them on. Very little cushioning, unlike past Nike Frees I have had.
