Comfortable right out of the box! Cushy, good toe room, no break in period. Wear them for daily work and walks, haven’t taken them on a hike. I’d anticipate them to be great on shorter hikes 3 miles.

These are a slightly new fit for me. Took a little getting used to but once I got the laces tied right I found them to be extremely comfortable. Almost slipper-like. I am not a runner so I can’t speak to how they are for running. I will be using these for hiking and think they have enough support and cushioning for long days on rough terrain. I will be putting them to the test when I go to Colorado later this summer. I like the higher ankle support as I have a tendency to twist my ankles.

After reading many reviews, I figured I'd better order two sizes for comparison. I ordered my usual New Balance size (9.5) and a 10, which I've never worn in any shoe. Upon trying on the 9.5, I understood what all the reviewers wrote - definitely shorter than usual, kind of difficult to pull on without loosening the ties, and they come up high in the back. I was dubious about the style, but figured I should try the larger pair. They still take a little effort to pull on, and the back tab seems a bit stiff and high, but the footbed support and cushioning is so comfortable I decided to keep them. I typically wear New Balance because the front of the shoe is wide enough for my bunions, and these worked for me.

I generally order half a size up and a wide for athletic shoes as I like to wear thick socks, but these were huge, so I could have ordered a 9.5 regular width and would have been fine. The wide was very wide. The sole comes out, so that is excellent for those that have custom orthotics. I love the fact the tongue is attached, as somehow the tongue of all my sport shoes is always sliding around. Extra points for that. I am looking for a pair of run around shoes, not necessarily hiking shoes, so these don't suit my purpose. I didn't realize how hiking specific these are - kept tripping on my carpet with the rough sole. Perfect for the woods, not for my house.

While they are a little difficult to slip on your feet, they are very comfortable.

For was good - typical New Balance size 9W. But I didn’t care for the tongue being part of the shoe. Makes slipping on and off more difficult and less flexibility of tightness around top of the fit. So sadly I returned.

Run very small. I wear 9.5 or 10 and usually 10 is pretty roomy, but in this shoe 10 was too small, yet on the wide side. I have narrow feet so I didn’t want to get a size up, felt like it would make it to wide. The shoelaces are constructed the way that it’s pretty much impossible to make the shoe tighter/narrower. They are more for looks. Overall felt comfortable and extremely cushiony and is a good looking shoe.

Didn’t like them at first because I thought the back came up too high into my ankle but I guess I got used to it. They are a half size too small so order up a half size. They’re not the coolest looking shoe but I bought them only for work. Are comfortable but it is a little annoying that the tongue is attached making it a little difficult to get on but I only put them on once a day.

I really liked the look of these shoes...but there was very little arch support, they were a pain to get on and ofF since they did not have the traditional / regular opening, there is no loop on the heel to help with putting them on. So sorry, I retuned them.

It takes a long time putting them on because the tongue is all one piece and it is difficult for the smaller opening without stretchy. I want to return them now.

I love the arch support and extra heal cushion and fit that NB offers.Unfortunately, the fixed tongue makes this shoe difficult to put on and take off. Im afraid that it digs in a little causing some discomfort as well. This is probably because of my high arch. Sadly, I have decided to return.

Big problem with these shoes--getting them on. They do not have a separate tongue, you must slip them on, and the top is very tight. There's a reason why shoes come with a tongue and laces, people. I almost sent these back, but once they are on, they are nice. Just allow yourself 60 seconds to get your shoes on, and more if you're wearing socks.

Ordered a 7.5 Wide shoe and had to return. The toe area is extremely box shaped and narrow, not a "wide" shoe at all. Love the look of the shoe and was sad to return them.

I have other NB shoes so I was anticipating these shoes would be a plus. When I put them on they felt short in length and they seemed to come up high on my foot. Needless to say they are going back.

Loved the looks of this shoe and really wanted it to work for me. But, even with a Wide size, the toe box is just so small - uncomfortable. Of note, I ordered a few other models at the same time, and they all had the same problem. I've bought probably 50+ pairs of New Balance shoes over the last two decades, specifically because they have fit so well on my wide feet -- but over the past year something has changed in the way they are designing shoes, I end up returning quite a few models because the toe box is so narrow and low. Used to be I could just order 8W from New Balance and know it was going to be a great fit. I've bought some more recent versions of 1080s and 840s that still feel good, but other models seem to have shrunk. AND I see so many people commenting on this issue - c'mon New Balance, pay attention and go back to comfy, roomy toe boxes!

I tried two full size shoes and they still didn't fit properly. To narrow and the toe box is WAY to small. Although Zappo's was perfect in how they handled my returns and replacements! I'm a New Fan of Zappo's

So I purchased these in a wide and regular width - both 8 1/2. First off I did not like the tongue as it was difficult to get into the shoe. I ordered these to see if they would work with my bunion. Both were too wide and there was very little arch support. Unfortunately I returned both pair.

Cute and could have been comfortable but the fixed "tongue" came up very high and felt like a band around my ankle. I have a very high instep though so it might be fine for others.

I can’t really review anything about fit or comfort because I literally couldn’t get my foot in the shoe. Should have heeded all the reviewers who said that. It might be very comfortable on, but it’s not worth the effort to find out! They are going back. (Also, the color is pretty drab and unattractive.)

I really like New Balance Shoes. But the last purchase these shoes do not have a touge and are hard to impossible to get on. That is really to bad cause the shoe looks really nice I was excited to put them on. But with out a touge it was impossible for me to get the shoe on my foot the opening to put your foot into is small. It is smaller then a slip on shoe. I would not purchase these shoes and the next time I buy a shoe from them I will call in so I can ask them if the shoe has a touge or not.
