These are decent shoes, but they AREN'T Jack Purcells. I've worn Jacks off and on for the last 40 years, and continuously for the last 15, and these aren't the same. What they really look like are a pair of Chuck Taylors with some detailing added to resemble Jacks. The toe cap is more like a Chuck, the stitching is like a Chuck (no sole-line stitching), and the soles, as others have noticed, resemble an old tennis shoe design. Bring back the real Jack Purcells!

I bought these shoes to replace my worn & tired (25 yrs +/- old) Jacks . I have searched the net and many shoe stores for a replacement pair . I was disappointed to find NO blue outter sole as advertised. They seem to be okay , but time will tell . Also there are no metallic string tips , or padded edge . I hope these Jacks outlast me , I,m 75 and have been wearing Jacks for 65 yrs .

Purchased these shoes in May from this page. Top notch. The insole IS removable. The person who answered the question was incorrect and must not have this exact pair. The sole is no longer blue for reference. Because the sole is removable, I'm able to slip my orthotics in and get the arch support I need. Top grade material and quality control after a month of wear.

Clearing this up! I bought these as well as the other Jack Purcells with the white laces and the marked down price. If you want the traditional JP look and feel, I recommend the others. Most importantly, these do not have the blue sole. They have a sole that looks like it came off some Stan Smiths or Shell Toes. The “pluses” are a nice border around the logo on the back and the ventilation grommets fully in the fabric, not the rubber edge. They also have a very easily removable “comfort wedge” insole but the surface of it is quite rough. This shoe is perfectly flat while the one with white laces has an upward curve to the toe. This shoe’s canvas is slightly heavier. I’d almost say that this one with the black laces reads as more “masculine”. Finally, this one is definitely a little bigger than the supposed same size of the white lace version. I’m not sure what the deal is, these two shoes are the same original price. I hope that this is not the “new version” since it is a shame to lose the blue sole.

The minute I slipped them on they were comfortable. Even better than the original converse. The only “con” I can think of is the squeak sound they make when I wear them on smooth surfaces. Other than that, I’d buy another pair in a heartbeat. I love these shoes.

Converse has ruined this classic shoe! Have worn this shoe for decades; not sure I will continue to purchase. JP logo removed from the tongue; blue out & insoles gone; canvas feels thinner; interior of shoe is now a dirty, yellowish-white color (looks dirty before being worn); rubber toe cap was modified, it's smaller and blue toe-tip is now black; overall profile has been modified and now somewhat resembles the Chuck Taylor shoe. Extremely displeased with these recent modifications.

For some reason, Converse had changed the sole for this shoe. Now, it just SQUEEKS every time I change directions. So irritating. Can't wear this anymore...LOUD IRRITATING SCREECHING SOUND! I wish I could have my money back!

I waited a long time before posting this to get good wear throughout the spring and summer. I wanted a pretty plain pair of all white sneakers that would pair up nicely with a suit or jeans. Enter Jack Purcell's. Never knew these existed but wow they're perfect. One thing though, there's not much in the way of cushioning so some may need a thin insole. But the style is just classic. Grab your blazer and slacks check. Want to wear with a polo and some jeans check. These pull double duty. Best of all I clean them up with a little detergent to prewash, slide a tube sock over them to protect them from the machine agitator and they're good as new. Let them air dry and you'll be steppin right once again.

Sizing has changed dramatically. This is my third or fourth pair and I have always worn a 5.5 and these were way too large. We’ll see how the 5 works out when they get here. The quality has definitely gone down too and where did the blue sole go? That was a signature! And what happened to the white laces? Why change an oldie but goodie! A little disappointed.

I have a pair of these in white that I purchased several years ago in a Women's size 6. Ordered black this week and am returning and re-ordering in a 5.5. They definitely run a little big!

These shoes are great. It’s been awhile since my last pair of Purcells. I can literally wear these all day and not feel tired.

I marked ‘no arch support’ because they’re pretty light on support. But compared to Converse Chuck Taylors or Vans, they’re supportive! They’re also a little more cushy and are wider at the ball of the foot than either of those other similar shoes. Overall, a great classic canvas sneaker!

Shoe fits well and is comfortable. Had to size down a full sneakers size. Sole is now white in this years model. Can confirm that the insoles are removable in this iteration. Able to wear with my orthotics and have complete support. Quality and durability appear to be good, but I only have a months rotated usage.

Been warring Jack Purcell's for over 40 years; still great. Thank You for having available size 14 shoes; very hard to find. And the trend continues.

They were very uncomfortable compared to the old style Jack Purcells. They rubbed my toes raw, even with socks on and even when I gave them time to 'break' in.

Converse ruined a stylish classic! Too long and too wide. The iconic Jack Purcell signature is gone from the tongue. Even the laces are way too long! Returned them. Please bring back the originals.

I ordered the Jack Purcell, upon recommendation from a friend. I wear a wms. size 8 and found it to be very large. I reordered a size 7.5 and that, too, was too wide and big. The quality of the shoe was pretty good except for the area where the tongue is attached to the shoe and the edge at that point is ragged. I ended up with the regular Converse Chuck Taylor white at 7.5 and am very happy. Zappos customer service was astounding and so helpful, thank you for that!!

Converses seem to fit me a half size too small. Classiest and most stylish white converse available in my humble opinion.

These were replacement shoes for the exact size, style, and color...They look and feel great...just as expected!
