I thought I had these in an 11 Men's, but they don't fit, going to go down a size.

I have been wearing this style for many years and the most recent pair had an unusual flaw - the tongue on the left foot was so long it rubbed my ankle - I had to return them. I understand things happen and hope that the pair I have ordered to replace them is okay. For the price of these great shoes, I hope this was just a one time mistake.

Though the shoes were very well made and nice looking, I had to return them because they were too snug for my feet through the instep and ball of the foot area, and my feet are not wide. Generally, New Balance are my favorite fitting shoes. Also, the shoelaces were too short to tie. I was so excited to order them because they were Made in America, a rarity for sneakers, so really wanted them to work out.

These are a very well made shoe but unfortunately, as soon as I took them out the box and felt the weight, compared to the Asic Kyanos that I'm used to running in, I knew they would be too heavy for me. I returned them right away. I am awaiting my refund in order to buy the #29 Kayano.

Favorite shoes. Until they tear. My last three pair have torn on the outside toe area and inside heel area within four months. New Balance, please fix this. They are too expensive to tear so easily after walking 3 miles a day. I had to stop buying them, which is too bad because for years the 990's were perfect for my 9.5 wide feet (after being fractured in soccer and other sports.) Now they are just a waste of money.

The black ones I had bought I had to put insoles in because they don't feel good on tile floor with the insoles they came with

I ordered my normal size. And the ankle area of the shoe is so wide my feet slip in and out of shoe :( sad because i love these shoes so much. Extremely comfortable

Unfortunately, after I wore these shoes, I realized the right foot is about a half-size larger than the left. So disappointed.

Fifth eyelet down from each shoe is not usable as the white inner lining covers it. Poor manufacturing on your part which I find very disappointing since I have worn 990s for years.

Love the sneaker, but the laces are cheap and make it difficult to tie the sneakers.

Purchased these shoes back in February and did so mainly for the style. However, I quickly realized that they were extremely comfortable! There is some weight to them but the construction of the shoe provided great support and helped correct my poor posture! I found myself walking upright and without slouching which others were able to notice as well. I'd like to say about a month ago, I started to develop lower back pain, my posture isn't as great anymore and the bottom of my feet would feel sore as if I was walking in flat sandals all day. I couldn't pinpoint why until a few days ago when I purchased a new pair of shoes for running and had these shoes on that day. The 990v5 no longer had the support, cushion and comfort it once had when I purchased these shoes six months ago which was a shocker, honestly. I believe with running shoes it's recommended to switch out your shoes after 200-300 miles and even if I were to apply that to these shoes, I don't think I've hit that mark yet. For a bit of background, I primarily wear these shoes for light walks/running errands and they get rotated between other shoes/sandals. Now when I put these shoes on and start walking around in them, I'll get so much pain and sensation in my lower back and feet. I haven't experienced this with my other shoes and I've had some for over 5-10 years. I do find it a bit interesting, I may just need a new pair and or perhaps insoles but for the cost of the shoes and insoles only to be replaced after six months of casual wear, it's questionable. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed them during the six months of having them but my back and feet are telling me I need to retire them and that's what we're going to do

Poor SupportGreat Support
So I've been using this shoe for a year now -- max 3 times a week jogging. It's been fine until just recently. I can't seem to adjust it soe that my arch in my right foot is happy. I had to go back to my old Brooks shoes that have a lower heel and maybe a slightly different cut than these. I'm disappointed in this because I've used New Balance running shoes FOREVER. But tings change.
I'd also recommend:

I wear this shoe when working, driving a truck delivering grain. I have had two pair now that have both developed a hole over my big toe and then they split on the side by the little toe. Too pricy to purchase again, they lasted about 6 to 8 months before developing the problems.

These fit too large overall for me. I'm always a size 7 in NB running shoes, but these were too long. They also come up higher around the heel/ankle, making it rub in a weird way that was uncomfortable. The width seemed to be normal. I returned mine due to sizing. There was not a smaller size in stock, or I might have given that a shot. Just in general, I hate foam (even NB fresh foam) insoles. One of the reasons I picked this shoe was that it did NOT have the foam insole. Sizing and fit aside, the feel of the insole, instep, arch, and support was AMAZING. I'd love to find a similar shoe that fits a bit smaller on my foot!

I normally wear a women's 11 in A or B width (my foot has been getting wider in the last few years). I ordered the 990v Core in 11 1/2 B because New Balance runs about 1/2 size short. It was long enough but too wide, so I returned it. Also, I didn't care for the look.

Is it just me or do these shoes make me look like I have clown feet? They're okay in terms of comfort. I certainly wasn't wowed. Biggest advice is get a half size smaller.
