I have a long, narrow foot (15, 2A) and have purchased the 2A width in the 990 series for many years. Versions 4 and 5 are obviously not as narrow as this shoe was previously. I wish New Balance would return to the narrower last so that the support would be better for those of us with narrow feet.

Quality is good, looks great, but I ordered a 6E extra wide and it didn't seem quite wide enough. Insert padding doessn't seem to provide great support

I walk a few miles each day. When I bought my 990v4's I fell in love. The shoes felt planted and gave me great support and "spring forward." I replaced them with a pair of 990 v5's and I'm disappointed. Neither pair of v5's felt as stable as the v4's and this second pair feels tighter than the last one in the toe box. Rest assured that I use the same socks as before.

The shoe feels good, looks to be constructed well, its just too plain! It looked to have more contrast, in the colors, in the pictures.

I use these for walking, work and everyday activities, so far I prefer the fit and feel of the V4 (previous model) to these V5's, the cut is different, in fact these are the noisiest sneaks when walking I have ever owned. I tried the 10-1/2 and it was snug, exchanged for a size 11 and they are huge, almost liek they aere intended for a six toed set of feet.

I own a 10 wide in dark blue purchased in 2019 and they fit perfectly. The same size (10 wide, in black) purchased in 2020 is too narrow. I guess I could order three or four pairs in 10 wide and hope one pair fits, but that just doesn't seem right. By the way, the 2019s are wearing like steel, I just wanted a pair in black. Maybe I'll try again in 2021.

Excellent urban walking shoe (3-6 miles), though expensive (I did want a made in the USA shoe). Solid but styling is dated and needs updating. That is the three stars- otherwise excellent shoes.

I purchased the same size (9.5 EE) in 990v5 as I was fitted for in one of your stores for my prior pair of 990's (M990GL4). The 990v5's appear to be built wider in genera and appearl to have stretched. I am concerned I will have to get re-fitted and replace them. I'm getting by for now, however. It is still a very stable show, which is what I need.

Very comfortable however the metal clip reinforcing the top two lace eye holes broke over time causing the lace to get stuck. This happened on the top outside hole on both shoes. Maybe I'll try leaving the top hole unlaced.

OK, I order this because it was made in the US. While the size is the correct, the shoe is uncomfortable after wearing for any amount of time, like over 3-4 hours. I have a high arch and tried wearing it as it came, but did not find the support I needed. I removed the insole and replaced with a custom sole with arch support. While it made the fit better, still after several hours I needed to change shoes.
Sadly I have purchases New Balance for years, but this shoe is not working out as well and after several months, it is my least favorite to wear.

The plastic eyelets at the top of the laces have all cracked. The tongue rides down despite running the laces through loop on the tongue. I have had 990 series before and was happy up to now. The V5 is poorly designed. It is not worth the premium price.

An investment grade runner that has superior ankle stabilization. A bit narrow towards the toe. Great for road runners. But I much look forward to putting on my 1400s instead.

since this is the only running shoe available in your lineup I wear them all the time. they squeak terribly with my orthotics. the overall quality has declined from 10 years ago and keeps going down. making an inferior design in the u.s.a. does nothing to inspire loyalty or increase business

I read a lot of great reviews about this shoe. I was disappointed when I wore them for the first time because they just did not feel right. I thought it might need a break in, but so far they are just not comfortable on my feet. There seems to be a high spot in the construction under the arch of my left foot that I am guessing my be a defect? I tried to message them to ask about it but their reply was very slow (several days) and they did not really answer my question. The Reebok shoes that they replaced were much more comfortable for me.

I have worn 990 series for more than 25 years. The V5 is the first to disappoint . The heel is not properly cushioned and the toe is WRONG. I got blisters. This is a real letdown from NB

They are comfortable, but not enough arch support. The styling and arch support of similar SAS shoes are far superior, even if they are a little bit heavier.
I'd also recommend:

For a walking shoe it is to heavy , I thought it would be lighter

I bought these shoes as a gift for my husband. I can't even speak on how comfortable they are because they made my husband's feet look really weird. Wish I could have gotten past how they looked to see if they were fabulous, but they looked so goofy we had to return them.

Ridiculous to plaster your Name and Made in the USA on the visible tongue
Not very attractive...I did not think I was buying a shoe and have advertising all over it...the NB is fine and you make a good shoe but stop the free advertising

I use for walking. It simply does not feel as comfortable as another brand that I wear. Your advertisement is what sold me on ordering these. Had I gone to a store and tried them on, I would not have purchased them.

I appreciate that these shoes are made in the USA. Good fit and seem to be made well.

I use New Balance inner sole inserts, with the originals removed.
But that should not cause 'the issue'. When you're walking through
a quiet lobby and the only sound you hear is sound of your left shoe,
"cweak, cweak, cweak, ... " that's pretty disconcerting and, frankly,
makes you feel rather CONSPICUOUS.
The footwear more impervious to this annoyance is the dark gray
MW877G Walking. But I'm looking for good higher limb protection
from real activity impact. I'm not sure the MW877G is fully up to that.
